REPORT: Biden’s Latest Reelection Gambit May Be Declaring National Climate Emergency
White House officials are weighing whether to declare a national climate emergency several months out from the 2024 election, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg.
President Joe Biden’s top advisers have returned to conversations about declaring such a national climate emergency, though those in discussion appear to be divided on the move, the sources told Bloomberg. While the move, the sources say, would stunt offshore drilling and curb greenhouse gas emissions, others think the move would help energize youth voters, particularly those with a focus on climate, Bloomberg reported.
“President Biden has treated the climate crisis as an emergency since day one and will continue to build a clean energy future that lowers utility bills, creates good-paying union jobs, makes our economy the envy of the world and prioritizes communities that for too long have been left behind,” White House spokesperson Angelo Fernandez Hernandez told the outlet while not commenting directly on the reported discussions. The Sunrise Movement, Fridays For Future USA and the Campus Climate Network, all youth climate activist networks, are planning protests surrounding Earth Day in an effort to put pressure on the president to declare a climate emergency, Bloomberg reported.

Yeah, he might energize the youts a bit, but, when energy prices skyrocket people will directly blame Biden, so, the declaration would have to come early enough to get the youts to vote but late enough that the energy pain would come after election day.

Andrew, the strength of the Demnocratic party is their pretense at legitimacy in the acts they perform. Legitimacy for them comes from election results. This isn’t Ukraine where the President can just not hold elections and stay in office. The time honored way Democrats stay in power is to stuff the ballot boxes with manufactured votes. They have done this for longer than anyone remembers so we can expect them to do it again in 2024. That tactic has been successful for them for too long. They are not about to try something new at the last minute.
Further, while Democratic party leaders and voters may viscerally hate Trump for real and imaginary reasons, they do not fear him. They all know that even if he gets elected, the worst he can do is slow the gravy train. He has no ability to derail it. The deep state and disloyal republicans will blunt most of Trump’s agenda, just like they did the last time. Even in the very worst case of Trump serving a very effective term, he is out in 4 years and no new Trumps on the bench to take his place. At the most, a Trump presidency delays the destruction of America for only 4 years. Democrats can easily wait that long and won’t feel any pressure to do anything special to keep him out of office.
Even the unending malicious prosecutions are only intended to tie Trump up and force him to campaign less, possibly convince the Republican party to pick someone else at the convention (that ship has sailed), and gets some convictions right before the election so they can claim he is a Felon, even though it is obvious the convictions will be overturned on appeal. It is all about the optics and making good campaign commercials. Under Alvin Brag’s own rules, this trial is an in-kind contribution to the Biden campaign.
