Yes, I am catholic* but never a Catholic! As a Catholic child was ‘Mr’ Dana sexually abused by clergy? Did Catholic grooming of children create pedophiles or damaged adults as the children matured?
I knew of a Lutheran minister (now deceased) back in the Ozarks who was discovered ‘messing’ with adolescents, in fact trading drugs for sex with them. A railroad security guard (with whom I used to hunt) caught HIS Reverend in flagrante delicto and reported through the church, who removed the minister to a KC Lutheran ‘home’. Over the years more victims came forward. No police, no jail.

We have our major cities plagued with rampant crime, including Mr Dowd’s hometown of St Louis where the homicide rate is 68.19 per 100,000 residents (200 murders in 2022 ÷ 2.93310, the population of the city in hundreds of thousands), the vast majority of those killings are of black people by other black people, and the city itself has lost 2.74% of its population from the Census of 2020 to the Census Bureau’s population guesstimate for 2021.
Our prisons are full of men who had no fathers present in their lives.
Let’s face facts here: the accumulated wisdom of humanity which the left have rejected has played out in worse outcomes for our society as a whole. More, in our major cities, in which the left are more politically dominant, the outcomes are worse than in the suburbs, small towns, and rural areas.
Oh, but Mr Dowd will claim that the cities are the economic engines of our society, and in one way, he’s right: economic productivity, as measured in dollars, is higher in urban areas. But not only are the social outcomes poorer in our urban areas, the economic outcomes have not been better, as the higher wages in the cities have been matched by the higher costs there.
