Sigh: Trump Talks About Running Third Party

This won’t help. It would just split Right leaning votes between 2 candidates, and Biden, or whomever they replace him with, would easily win

Trump Appears To Float Third-Party Threat If GOP Won’t Back Him

Former President Donald Trump has appeared to float the idea of running a third-party campaign if increasingly disgruntled Republican leaders don’t get behind his 2024 run for the presidency.

Trump signaled the possibility by posting an article on Truth Social Wednesday ? “The Coming Split,” by Dan Gelernter, in the right-wing journal American Greatness ? promoting just such an option.

Gelernter believes such a move would torpedo Trump’s chances of winning the White House. But it would also wipe out Republican hopes, which Gelernter argued would be a deserving punishment for rejecting the popular former president.

“Do I think Trump can win as a third-party candidate? No,” he wrote. “Would I vote for him as a third-party candidate? Yes. Because I’m not interested in propping up this corrupt [GOP] gravy-train any longer.”

Gelernter claimed that the “Republican machine has no intention of letting us choose Trump again: He is not a uniparty team player. They’d rather lose an election to the Democrats, their brothers in crime, than win with Trump.”

He asked: “What should we do when a majority of Republicans want Trump, but the Republican Party says we can’t have him? Do we knuckle under and vote for Ron DeSantis because he would be vastly better than any Democrat? I say no, we don’t knuckle under.”

The problem is, even if a large majority of Republicans want Trump (which I seriously doubt at this point), he won’t get the Independents, squishy Republicans, and squishy Democrats who are tired of the Democrat insanity. It’ll look much like 2020. Even without all the Democrat cheating, there is no path to 270.

I suspect that a lot of Republicans who like Trump’s ideas and policies are done with him, because he cannot win. There is no surprise like 2016. This is about his ego at this point.

    Democrats cheating?
    Election fraud?
Great claims require great proofs, Teach has proofs to show. He is simply echoing the claims of his master, Donald J. Trump

H, like all leftists you are morally bankrupt and deliberately blind, deaf and dumb.

So going on three years of millions of Americans saying the election seemed rigged isn’t enough “proof”? BTW, we don’t need proof till we get to court. Right now we just need prima face evidence of wrong doing.

Stifled investigations, abandoned prosecutions and aborted audits almost as ubiquitous as joe bidens lies can’t get you curious?

And now all the lies revealed by the Twitter Files can’t even stir you to an inquiry as to why they had to hid the cheating and corruption of Hunter or lose the election?

At this point H you and your leftist pals are so invested in the lie no evidence will ever be enough. You know it and so do we. You all love living the lie because to you all that is important is being right.

    Millions of Americans believe…. ?
Well I am sure that statement is true. But millions of Americans believe in Santa Fe butClaus and the Easter bunny and Guardian Angels. That certainly isn’t “proof” is it?
Clarence Thomas’s wife Ginni recently said under oath that even she, has no proof.
There was no evidence presented in any of the court cases sufficient to prove the fact of fraud (prina facie).
    Lol “morally bankrupt”? thank you.

60% of all votes cast in 2020 were mail in votes.
Many states require witness(es) and notary stamps.
Many Americans chose to vote with mail in ballots, some can not vote in person because of a variety of read of reasons, (out of state on voting day, deployed military, physically unable, working) all of these Americans you believe should forfeit the right to vote?
Remember in some Dem cities polling places are limited (by a GOP state government) forcing primarily Dem voters to wait up to 3 hours. Lol, and with laws passed to prohibit anyone from even giving out free bottled water to those in line
Dems have tried to pass laws mandating that election day be made a federal holiday to increase voting participation, but these are regularly defeated by the GOP which always tries to restrict voting.

This is about his ego at this point.

This is strategic positioning. It is how Trump won the first primary. The establishment Republicans were desperate then to get him to swear to support whoever won the primary, but he remained aloof then too. It is how he gains concessions from the establishment Republicans to play fair in the primaries. The Republican party doesn’t have a system of “super-delegates” who pick their candidates no matter who the primaries select. Nor can Republicans simply manufacture as many votes as they need in the middle of the night in major cities. In deal-making 101, this is called the poison pill. By floating this out there at this point in the primary, he gets other potential candidates to sit out.

Trump’s real problem is the same one he had last time. Even if he wins, he needs the establishment Republicans to govern and they have already demonstrated that they will undermine his potential administration every chance they get. So, he wins the election, but then has another failed administration.

It’s not really about his ego, other than anyone who thinks the country can’t get along without them must have a massive ego. Clintons, McCain, Bushes, Romney, Obama, Biden all share this characteristic equally.

No establishment candidate can win without Trump’s vigorous endorsement. He knows that and they know that. By making this statement, he is reminding them that he knows that.

It will be fun to watch and see who the Democratic party activists in the media start supporting as a “reasonable Republican candidate”. My 2 cents is Liz Cheney, daughter of the guy they all hated during the Bush adminsitration.
