Marxist Health Group Demands Indefinite Masking Because Raaaaacism

What’s the end goal here? Why are they pushing this? Is there some sort of deep motive, or simply a kneejerk reaction with little thought behind it?

Far-Left Health Advocacy Group ‘People’s CDC’ Calls for Continued Mask Mandates

A far-left (borderline Marxist) group calling itself the “People’s CDC” has called for more radical coronavirus policies like indefinite mask mandates and social distancing, charging that America’s relaxed pandemic policies stem from a racist eugenics impulse beholden to corporate interests.

Profiled at length in the New Yorker, the People’s CDC can best be described as a “ragtag coalition of academics, doctors, activists, and artists who believe that the government has left them to fend for themselves.” Founded by Mindy Thompson Fullilove, a professor of urban policy and health at the New School, the group has thousands of supporters who receive weekly newsletters and emails highlighting the latest pandemic trends while advocating stricter policies.

How much do you want to bet that these are the same people who voluntarily wear a mask but leave their noses uncovered and it’s so loose that it would be less than worthless?

While the group puts up a science-oriented front on its website, the rhetoric from some of its top members suggests Marxist leanings. For instance, not only does the group claim that the CDC relaxed pandemic policies to appease corporate interests under President Joe Biden’s leadership, but it also suggests that those relaxed policies had racist intent. Per the New Yorker:

The People’s C.D.C. strongly supports mask mandates, and they have called on federal, state, and local governments to put them back in place, arguing that “the vaccine-only strategy promoted by the CDC is insufficient.” The group has noted that resistance to masks is most common among white people: Lucky Tran, who organizes the coalition’s media team, recently tweeted a YouGov survey supporting this, and wrote that “a lot of anti-mask sentiment is deeply embedded in white supremacy.”

This kind of accusation is common for the People’s C.D.C. Their messaging has the unmistakable inflection of activist-speak, marked by a willingness to make eye-popping claims about the motivations of politicians, corporations, or anyone in power. “To name it clearly, the CDC’s policies are eugenic,” the Weather Report team wrote, in August. “They rely on and promote the indefensible stance that disabled and elderly, poor and working class people are disposable, unworthy of care, and unworthy of participation in society.” Eugenic policies have a long and ugly history, commonly associated with the Nazis, white supremacists, and others who advocate the racial purification of humanity. I asked Thill whether she truly believes that the C.D.C. is eugenicist, along these lines. “Just because a charge is difficult or impactful doesn’t make it a wrong charge,” she said.

They’re welcome to wear masks. As usual, these far left folks want to get government to force everyone to comply. Anyhow, it’s cute that mask resistance jumps right to white supremacy. What about vaccine resistance? Blacks were one of the groups with the lowest rate of getting vaccinated. Does that mean vaccine resistance is black supremacy?

I have no problem with people asking others to wear masks; that’s within their freedom of speech. But these clowns want to do much more than ask:

The People’s C.D.C. strongly supports mask mandates, and they have called on federal, state, and local governments to put them back in place, arguing that “the vaccine-only strategy promoted by the CDC is insufficient.”

They want to force people to wear masks. You know how it is: scratch a liberal, reveal an authoritarian.

  2. Elwood P. Dowd says:

You can’t control what others do so, when indoors in public, wear a well-fitting N95 mask to reduce your likelihood of contracting Covid. Pretty simple. And continue social distancing. And get vaccinated.

As predicted, Biden’s requirement that Chinese travelers have negative Covid tests is pointless, just like tRump’s. The new, more infectious variants are already in the US and expanding. Thanks to the People’s CDC for pointing this out. In the past 3 months, BA.1 has dropped from 80% to 5% of new cases. XBB.1.5 has increased from 0% to 40% of new cases! Hospitalizations for Covid are increasing; Covid deaths holding steady around 400/day (~ 145,000 deaths per year). There is no evidence that XBB.1.5 is any more deadly than the earlier variants, just more transmissible and more immune evasive. Those of you who are fully vaccinated/boosted are still less susceptible to infection and severe responses than the unvaccinated.

The Covid omicron XBB.1.5 variant has nearly doubled in prevalence over the past week and now represents about 41% of new cases in the U.S., according to CDC data.
XBB.1.5 is highly immune evasive and appears to bind better to cells than other members of the XBB omicron subvariant family.
Scientists at Columbia University have warned that the rise of subvariants such as the XBB family could “result in a surge of breakthrough infections as well as re-infections.”

Teach calls the group Marxist. They may accurately be called leftist, crazy, pollyannish, silly, improbable… but what makes them Marxist?

Marxism examines the historical effects of capitalism on labor, productivity, and economic development, and argues that a worker revolution is needed to replace capitalism with a communist system.

It should not be surprising to the denizens of the Cove that corporate well-being was/is taken into consideration as part of the anti-Covid policies. The vaccines were developed cooperatively between corporations and the gubmint and manufactured by corporations. Trillions of USD were given to companies, giant and small, by the US gubmint. Masking, shutdowns, social distancing impacted business. Did the poor and minorities suffer more than the middle and upper class? Of course. Was this the objective of the Trump and Biden administrations? Doubtful.

Anyway, policy recommendations (and enacted) are what matter, not what some person in the organization says. Unlike Karl Marx, this group recommends mask mandates.

Mask…..do nothin or at best trace influence.

Social distance…..Made up by Fauci and group, again, no influence.

Vaccine… who knows, certainly we are not getting adequate information.

I agree with everything Elwood P. Dowd stated in his insightful comment. I have been vaxxed twice and so far have received four boosters. I had Covid in 2021 and again in 2022 and both times it was mild because of my vaccines. Although the second bout was very mild no more than a bad cold. At my age (28) I still have the resiliency to fight off most disease.

I got this years flu shot last November with my last booster. So I’m pretty protected. Should another booster be recommended I’ll get that too.

I also wear a mask when in public and keep distancing. I haven’t been to any real social events in two years. My x-partner was the social one and when she and I broke up I just stopped socializing.

It is important that we all do our part to keep this monster pandemic in check. If we don’t work together we will all die. It’s that serious.

      Hana,
You need help. Seek out a good psychiatrist, soon..

Jeff has never, ever been right.

To be sure, I looked at my most recent CME regarding the COVID, no firm recommendation on the government forcing us to use a useless mask.

As to our working together, I recommend you prepare for the worse, it ain’t happening.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

        david b,

Why do you lie about masks?

Please share a link to your CME.

      • Dana says:

Mr 7134, I’m guessing that “Hana She/Her” was someone’s idea of a parody. In fact, I regard any biography in which a person specifies his/her/its pronouns to be, if not complete stupidity, an intentional parody.

        • david7134 says:

          Dana,
It is your friend Jeff. He has yet to understand the concept of voice in writing. And he needs a shrink bad.

  5. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Masks… all masks help to some degree, while well-fitting N95/KN95 masks significantly reduce spread of Covid

Social Distancing… germ “theory” disagrees…Covid is spread by airborne particles/droplets spread person to person, if you never get close to anyone, you rarely contract Covid…

Vaccine… controlled trials showed a significant reduction in transmission… the protection is diminished with time, but lasts 4-6 months… unvaccinated people are more likely to die from Covid than vaccinated… that said, the new variants, e.g., XBB.1.5 now circulating in the US, are not as sensitive to the vaccines as earlier variants

Wash your hands or use hand disinfectant when out
