Pennsylvania court says undated ballots won’t be counted as RNC claims ‘massive’ legal victory
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court banned the counting of undated or misdated absentee ballots in the upcoming midterm election.
In an order issued Tuesday, the court told the Pennsylvania county boards of elections “to refrain from counting any absentee and mail-in ballots received for the November 8, 2022 general election that are contained in undated or incorrectly dated outer envelopes.”
The court said it was “evenly divided” on the issue of whether failing to count the undated ballots is a constitutional violation, and so ordered that all the misdated or undated ballots be segregated and preserved by the county boards of elections.
Ronna McDaniel, chairwoman for the RNC, reacted to the court order in a Tuesday evening tweet, claiming a “massive” legal victory. “The PA Supreme Court agrees with us that incorrectly or undated mail ballots can not be counted in next week’s elections,” McDaniel tweeted. “Republicans went to court. Now Democrats have to follow the law.”

Democratic acting secretary of state, Leigh Chapman, who ignored the Supreme Court and the duly elected Pa. General Assembly in telling counties to count the improper mail-in ballots.

PA has been counting these for weeks. Even after the Supreme court said no earlier and are being sued by several GOP groups for breaking the supreme law of PA.

Why would any sane person acknowledge events that haven’t happened yet? I suspect very few people are able to see into the future. How about they instead just show their ID to prove they are an eligible voter and attest that their own vote is valid? And when it comes to denying votes, let’s expand that list to include everyone who the courts have decided are “unsuitable” to participate into the public square. Like, for instance, anyone previously convicted of a felony.
And as long as we are just making shit up, let’s change the laws so that anyone who participates in a party primary automatically grants their general election vote to whoever wins that primary. And further, track each individual by name when they cast their vote to prevent unscrupulous (republicans) from casting a second vote for that person. With current technology, tracking the voter status of under 200 million people should be trivial. Then early or late voting would be just as valid and each voter could check to see if their vote has been counted and only in their home jusrisdiction.

IF someone from the GOP cheated, that person should be found and prosecuted and suffer the full penalty of the law. Elections need to represent the actual votes cast by real eligible voters, or they are pointless. Creating fake ballots and counting them as if they are real is an attack on democracy itself. Voting rules and restrictions exist to ensure the ballots that are presented are more likely to be valid. Anyone from either party should be in favor of strict voter qualification efforts. I am sure Jeff isn’t actually defending voter fraud just because it seems to always benefit just one political party.
