European Union Reveals Plan To Get Off Russian Fossil Fuels

Hey, remember when President Trump put sanctions on Nord Stream 2? And warned Europe about being reliant on Russian oil and natural gas? That they should purchase from the U.S.? And Germany laughed?

(I’m hoping the tweet will show, having problems in admin panel)

How’s that going?

Climate change: EU unveils plan to end reliance on Russian gas

As countries scramble to reduce their reliance on Russia’s oil and gas in the wake of its invasion of Ukraine, few places are as exposed as the European Union.

The EU gets roughly 40% of its gas from Russia: According to figures from research group Transport & Environment, this dependence costs around $118m a day.

But moving with a speed few thought possible, the EU has now laid out a strategy that could cut reliance on this fuel source by two thirds within a year.

The REPowerEU plan aims to make Europe independent of Russian fossil fuels by 2030, but the initial efforts focus solely on gas.

The roadmap essentially proposes finding alternative supplies of gas in the next few months and boosting energy efficiency while doubling down on greener sources of power in the medium to longer term.

Well, good luck with this! Where will it come from? Iran? Venezuela? Biden hamstrung U.S. production, so, we can’t export that much more. Trying to replace 40% of gas with “energy efficiency” and “greener sources” is unrealistic, unless they plan to cut down a lot of trees?

Anyhow, it’s totally shocking that Trump was right yet again.

We are producing more domestic oil now than when Trump left office
No matter how much we extract all that comes out is sold atvthe world market price
If our production doubled the value of domestic oil would be the world market price
The demand is figured on what the world will pay for our oil
    Lol
We don’t get any discount from mti national companies they can ship it anywhere in the world for 10 cents per gallon fro 5000 miles

    • Hairy is Fake News says:

Everything Hairy just said is a lie.

Untrue. Falsehoods and easy to debunk.

1st of all any country or oil producer can sign a contract with anyone to provide them with oil at a set price. Abu Dhabi which is part of Opec just signed a large deal with China to provide them oil at a fixed price.

The USA could easily say we need all our oil and sell it to all our refiners. However because our refiners lack the capacity most of the oil hits the world market.

It however does not have to do so. The USA could easily say all oil produced in the USA is going to go to the USA and sign a deal with the hundreds of oil producers for such an action.

AS for producing more oil than when Trump left office this is Technically true when you consider the world was in lock down, the pandemic was raging and oil wells were being turned off at record pace.

Right now in West texas there are 1000’s of oil rigs that could be turned on and begin pumping oil into the system. Why don’t they? Because the minute they spend millions to fire these bitches back up they will be sued into silence by some leftist judge who jacks off to AGW in his closet daily.

National oil companies (NOCs) operate as extensions of a government or a government agency, and they include companies such as Saudi Aramco (Saudi Arabia), Pemex (Mexico), the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), and Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. (PdVSA). NOCs financially support government programs and sometimes provide strategic support. NOCs often provide fuels to their domestic consumers at a lower price than the fuels they provide to the international market.

      Why are NOC’s important?

Ask Hairy and Dowd. They have probably never heard of them before as they furiously pound their keyboards.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Fake Mews typed: As for producing more oil than when Trump left office this is technically true…

So it’s only technically true? LOL. We suspect you were trying to put this fact into context, right? Conservatives don’t believe in context, calling it an excuse. Fake’s excuse for trump’s poor performance was the trump virus.

But ask Fake why the US was still importing oil from Russia in 2020? We heard trump crowing about being energy independent.

        • Facts Matter says:

But ask Fake why the US was still importing oil from Russia in 2020?

          I shall answer this question.

Remember I said Russian Oil was dirty. Literally?

When oil refiners talk about crude, they generally ask two questions. First: How easy is it to break up the hydrocarbons to produce, say, gasoline or jet fuel? (In oil speak: How light is it?) Second: How much sulfur is in the oil? If there isn’t much, it’s called sweet crude.

“Higher sulfur content, more sour crudes actually are cheaper to purchase,” said Hugh Daigle, associate professor of petroleum engineering at the University of Texas at Austin.

That’s because they take longer to process and need specialized refining equipment. This cheap, lower-quality crude comes from Canada, Venezuela, and Russia, among other spots. Back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, it was the product U.S. refiners were buying.

Still this does not answer DOWDS question.

“A lot of refineries, especially in the Gulf Coast, made a very expensive bet to invest in this equipment that would allow them to save money on input costs by processing, you know, lower-quality crude,” said Richard Sweeney, an assistant professor of economics at Boston College.

Then came the fracking boom. Fracking produces light, sweet crude that can’t be refined with that equipment.

Hence why the US buys Russian Crude and EXPORTS THEIR OWN LIGHT< SWEET< CRUDE to the world market.

Ask DOWD what he even knows about oil and natural gas and coal.

          • Facts Matter says:

Fracking actually produces sweet crude and is much healthier for the environment. The left should be ecstatic with fracking not trying to get it banned.

But of course, we know the left wants to destroy the West and particularly the USA’s ability to have POWER because Energy is POWER.

Fracking produces CLEAN(Relatively speaking) fossil fuels. Not the dirty shit coming from Russia, Canada, and Venezuela.

WHY do you think the USA wanted an oil pipeline from DIRTY OIL CANADA to the GULF COAST. Unlike Hairy who claims this OIL will go onto the open market, it will in fact go directly to the gulf coast refiners who are set up to REFINE DIRTY OIL.

There are currently over 600 rigs actively drilling about 50% more than when Trump was POTUS
I love it when people call me a liar especially when they are too lazy themselves to bother to check primary sources.
    Statista.com
Active oil and gas rigs in the USA
    March 1 2022
    N. Sonnichsen
This is 2x as many as were Active during most of Trumps presidency
All oil producers dell st or near the world market price because thstvis the highest price they can get. Russia is discounting 20% but no takers.
Norway also sells its oil to its country at a lower price BUT all those countries fake news mentioned are not selling into the global market .
As for judges shutting down oil rigs pls notice that fake news provides no citation I do when I say and show 650 rigs currently drilling AND all the previous months showing less.
While technically correct that the Saudis sell some oil to their own population that is not realky significant. The world oil market encompasses 7 billion while the discounted Saudi oil goes to less than 35 million
Total pil production this year will exceed q2mil bpd
    Trump never reached that
    And pls
Call me a liar about that zfske News so I can rub your nose in my citation

    • drowningpuppies says:

Not only a liar but stupid too.

The current level of U.S. crude oil production as of February 2022 is 11,600.00 thousand barrels per day.

    • Facts Matter says:

Hairy you are just stupid and misunderstood. I don’t think you are a liar. You just spread fake news. I think you are old, blind, and use a cell phone to do your research and hence you are unable to do proper research.

During Trump’s presidency and OBAMA’s as well. OBAMA’s too!!!! There were over 1000-1200 oil rigs pumping. Hell Obama was the king of OIL.

TRUMP is NO LONGER PRESIDENT HAIRY. This shit that’s happening is ON YOU and the LEFT.

600 rigs are sad. 1000’s of rigs have been shut down for over a decade because of the price of Oil. They could easily start up again but will not because some leftist judge will just shut them down after they spend millions trying to bring these rigs back online.

Wall street is full of woke financiers who will not fund oil production anymore. So we have that to deal with. In fact the United States is on the verge of collapse since most of the Nickel needed for batteries comes from Russia and China and the nickle in the USA cannot be mined because of WOKE AGW advocates.

Within the United States today, it has been reported that there is currently only one operating nickel mine – the Eagle Mine, in Michigan, USA, which is expected to be mined out in 2025. Talon Metals has indicated that within the USA, they are currently the only undeveloped high-grade nickel sulphide project within the USA.

What materials are needed to make EV batteries?>

Lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) NMC batteries are probably the most common type used to power EVs.

Where do we get COBALT FROM??

Congo, Australia, Cuba, Russia, Canada and Phillipines are the 6 largest suppliers of Cobalt and only two are really American Allies. Congo is in bed with China, Russia and Cuba certainly are not our friends and the Phillipines has a schizophrenic government.

So hairy who you gonna call when its 30 below or 100 degrees and those windmills aint working cause the winds not blowing?

  4. Hairy says:

Germany gets 8% of its total energy needs from gas. More than 50% comes from renewables.>

    • Hairy is FAKE NEWS says:

50 percent and 8 percent aint 100 percent hairy. 100 percent minus 58 percent leaves 42 percent of the country UNPOWERED.

Why did you not finish this post, instead of posting this interesting but telling bit of information?

This is why I call you Fake News.

Petroleum Energy is required to heat homes and provide electricity. …23 percent.
Natural Gas? the use of natural gas declined somewhat in Germany. …
Nuclear Power Nuclear power provides about 13 percent of Germany’s energy needs. …
Hard Coal Hard coal currently provides about 12 percent of Germany’s total energy demand

    • Jl says:

Great job, John- and Germany has probably the highest energy prices in Europe. So much for cheap unreliables. So unreliable that they have to burn more fossil fuels. And again, if they’re so great, why do they have to be mandated? https://notrickszone.com/2021/11/27/weather-lulls-germany-forced-to-burn-20-more-coal-the-very-energy-source-thats-to-be-phased-out/

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

        Great job, Jill –

Would you just once cite something other than the unreliable notrickszone? Pierre Gosselin is a science denier.

Note that the increase in energy costs is in part a result of the invasion of Ukraine by Vladimir the Great and the sanctions against Russia. Germany receives significant natural gas from Russia, so the sanctions impact that.

Germany obtains 80% of its electricity from renewables, largely windfarms.

It’s not surprising that science deniers use the Russian invasion to further their opposition to the transition from fossil fuels to renewables.

Why do American cons support Putin and not America??

        • Jl says:

Great job, Elwood-if you could refute what the article says, you’d do it. But of course you cant, so out comes your patented “attack the messenger instead of the message”. By the way, Gosselin wasn’t the source of the information. Information like that is terribly difficult to find, though most people do it by simply reading the article. “The increase in energy costs is in part due to the invasion of Ukraine.” Gee, thanks for the tip, but if you look very, very closely you’ll see the article was written long before the invasion-11/27/2021, so the increase in energy costs had nothing to do with the war. Other than that, spot on!

Democrat millionaires and billionaires are greatly concerned now that the criminal Hunter has lost his money laundering contacts in Ukraine. All the corrupt Democrats from small time punk celebs like Jussie Smolette to big time power barons like Gates and Soros are now shuffling their ill gotten gains to secondary sources like Togo and the Seychelles for cover.

It’s a mad dash similar to the one where they moved hundreds of 12-15 year old boys and girls from Epsteins Democrat sex island when it was discovered and made public.

It’s hard to figure out the Democrats priorities sometimes, whether it’s more important to butt bang a 14 year old boy, rape and sodomize a 12 year old girl, sell a child into Middle East slavery or squirrel away another billion in stolen taxpayer bucks. The pressure is tremendous so they just declare another “emergency” and screw the working man again.

  7. Elwood P. Dowd says:

    No.

Apples and oranges. Nordstream 2 is a natural gas pipeline from Russia to Germany by way of the Baltic Sea.

The Keystone XL pipeline was planned from Alberta CA to Nebraska to carry tar sand crude (heavy, sour crude) from Alberta to the US. The US continues exporting crude from the Gulf coast to India, China and Korea.

14% of US exports are petroleum products. 18% of Canada’s exports are petroleum. Nearly half of Russia’s exports are petroleum products.

The tar sand crude for Keystone XL come from Canada, not the US. Trudeau’s government is considering trade sanctions against the US.

Some in the US consider $4/gal gasoline a national emergency and urge the federal government to take control of the private US petroleum import/export.
