Climate change denial on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and TikTok is ‘as bad as ever’

The climate is changing, but misinformation about it on the major social media platforms is not.

Climate change falsehoods, hoaxes and conspiracy theories are still prevalent on Twitter, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube despite pledges to crack down, a new report says.

Social media posts and videos denying climate change, disputing its causes or underplaying its effects not only can still be found on these platforms, they are often missing warning labels or links to credible information, according to Advance Democracy, a research organization that studies misinformation.

Climate scientists say they’re frustrated by the lack of progress in stemming the tide of climate change misinformation. For years, they’ve urged social media companies to identify, flag and take down the misinformation and the accounts that spread it.

You darned free thinkers!

If they could prove that the climate has changed mostly solely due to the actions of mankind, few would not believe. They wouldn’t need to attempt to censor people.

But, says Michael Mann, director of Penn State University’s Earth System Science Center and author of “The New Climate War,” “it’s as bad as ever.”

A guy who refuses to debate.

John Cook, a postdoctoral research fellow at the Climate Change Communication Research Hub at Monash University who advises Facebook, says the proliferation of climate misinformation on social media reflects the torrent of misinformation coming from a combination of science denial and skepticism about climate policy and renewable fuels and technologies.

The guy who came up with the super sketchy 97% agree study.

“One element of climate misinformation that seems to be particularly prominent on social media is culture war type posts that attempt to paint people concerned about climate change as belonging to some separate social group intent on impinging on people’s freedoms,” Cook said. “This is a particularly damaging form of misinformation as it exacerbates public polarization on climate change, making progress more difficult.”

Weirdly, that’s exactly what the climate cult is attempting to do.

I don’t think that’s really it at all. The problem for the warmunists isn’t whether people believe in global warming climate change emergency, but whether people are resisting the warmunists’ plans to address it. They don’t f(ornicating) care if you believe global warming climate change emergency is real or not, or in what causes it, as long as they can impose their will on you regardless.

And that’s the rub: in countries in which the wished of the public matter, the warmunists are deathly afraid that the riff-raff will manage to block their policies!

Think about plug-in electric vehicles: the warmunists know just what our host has told us, many times: only a small percentage of actual new car buyers are want to buy the silly things. The vast majority choose gasoline-powered vehicles due to their initial costs, and charging and range concerns. So, instead, we have the Biden Administration trying to put in policies which would require all new cars sold in the US to be zero-emission by 2030 or 2035, whatever date they pick — Joe Biden campaigned on 2035; Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren campaigned on 2030 — so that new car buyers would simply have no choice!

This is why we need a Republican-controlled Congress and a Republican President, to pass a law which strips from the President and executive authorities to unilaterally impose such a regulation.

    The climate is ALWAYS changing.

The need for some to dictate to others how they may live is constant.

The [ughh!] Magnolia Network is, at this very moment, running reruns of This Old House, season 41, originally broadcast in 2019-2020, a major, expensive, remodel of a home in Westerly, Washington County, Rhode Island. Westerly is a beach resort town which in the 2020 election gave 55.6% of its votes to Joe Biden; Washington County as a whole voted 58.57% to 39.20% for Mr Biden.

And what did the obviously wealthy homeowners, in liberal Rhode Island, in a show originally meant for the liberal Public Broadcasting System, choose for this project? One episode shows the installation of a 1,000 underground propane tank, for their heating system, their water heater, their range, and their fireplace.

The homeowners chose comfort, the homeowners chose fossil fuels!
