Government should have no control over our bodies
    Except for abortion
    ?????

    • Dana says:

The difference is that an unborn child is his own body, and no one else’s.

It was many years ago, but Patterico asked the question: if the technology were developed to transport an unwanted, unborn child into an artificial womb, would the pro-abortionists still support killing him. It seemed that many would.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Mx Dana typed: if the technology were developed to transport an unwanted, unborn child into an artificial womb, would the pro-abortionists still support killing him. It seemed that many would

I think that’s a misconception on Mx Dana’s part. If an embryo or fetus could be magically transported to a magical womb, either to a woman who wanted to have a baby, or to an artificial womb where the fetus could develop, most pro-choice people would say, OK. Of course, the concern would be for the welfare for the child that came from a magical artificial womb, wouldn’t it? Would anti-abortionists agree to help pay for placing and supporting those children? Would poor people be able to adopt the newborns?

What does Mx Dana believe/feel abortion is about? It’s certainly not a end in itself.

    Our esteemed host mentioned:

DC Clothesline highlights police in Austin, Tx, quitting over Woke policies

Now it seems as though violent crimes and homicides are on the rise in Austin! But I’m sure that those two things have nothing to do with each other, nothing at all!

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Another correlation is that America had record gun sales in Jan 2021.

Although the humiliated John Lott still claims More Guns, Fewer Crimes!

      Have crimes without firearms increased?

      How about suicide by firearms?

Rimjob likes to ask irrelevant questions without addressing the topic and then make up his imaginary correlations.

“Another correlation is that America had record gun sales in Jan 2021.”

Criminals cannot legally buy guns so where is a correlation? You think honest citizens like me (who did buy another weapon in Jan) caused a rise in crime?

“Although the humiliated John Lott still claims More Guns, Fewer Crimes!”

If you claim someone is “humiliated” best you look in the mirror first.

        “Have crimes without firearms increased?”

        Yes.

        “How about suicide by firearms?”

Who cares? If someone chooses to kill himself what business is it of yours as to his method? Or do you think people who shot themselves wouldn’t kill themselves if guns didn’t exist?

You’d be better off answering these questions:

Why do you hate White people?
        Why do you hate Christians?
        Why do you hate America?

        WHAT ARE YOU HIDING????

The very sincere Mr Dowd wrote:

Another correlation is that America had record gun sales in Jan 2021.

Well, that’s certainly true, and might be interesting, except for the fact that the homicide wave began last year. Chicago set homicide records, while the City in Which the Brothers Don’t Love Each Other Very Much missed it’s record, set during the crack cocaine wars of 1990. by just one dead body. But, not to worry, Philadelphia was at least 33 homicides ahead of the even 100 set on April 9th of last year, and the long, hot summer, when killings usually pick up, hasn’t started yet.

Lexington, Kentucky set its own homicide record of 34 last year, but with 12 murders in 99 days, the city is on a pace for 44 killings this year. But, not to worry: us white folks don’t have that much about which to worry, ’cause it’s young black guys killing other young black guys.

      • Dana says:

        Mr Dowd asked:

        Have crimes without firearms increased?

Well, that’s just it: the police departments across the country are telling us that other crimes are decreasing, but I don’t buy it.

The Philadelphia Police Department and District Attorney Larry Krasner like to claim that, overall, crime has decreased in the city. The obvious question is: is that true?

There are two kinds of crimes: crimes of evidence and crimes of reporting. If a man rapes a woman on the streets of Philadelphia, as far as the police are concerned, if it wasn’t reported, it didn’t happen. It is commonly assumed that most rapes go unreported, with some guesstimates being as high as 90% not reported. Crimes like robbery might go unreported if the victims do not trust the police or think it will do any good, or are fearful of revenge by the criminals. When your city is stuck with a District Attorney like Mr Krasner, who doesn’t believe in prosecuting criminals, or sentencing them harshly when they are prosecuted and convicted, what reason is there to report that you were robbed?

But murder is different: it is a crime of evidence. It isn’t easy to dispose of a dead body in a way that it won’t be found, especially if you haven’t carefully planned things. You’re looking at 100 to 300 pounds of dead meat, bone and fat, and something which will put off a strong and nasty odor after very little time. The vast majority of dead bodies get found.

Of course, in Philadelphia, a whole lot of murders are open and in public: drive up or drive by shootings, essentially public executions, in which the shooters are only concerned with escape, not hiding the fact that someone was killed.

So when I read that most crime had decreased in Philadelphia, I just flat don’t believe it. Murder isn’t normally an entry-level crime; guys who shoot other people have usually been bad guys before that. And if they’ve been bad guys before that, District Attorney Krasner and his ‘social justice’ prosecution policies don’t really believe in getting them locked up for long anyway.

        • Kye says:

Dana, the Red commentator’s question wasn’t has crime itself increased or decreased but if crimes without firearms have. Big difference. Overall crime may very well decrease while crimes with guns increase and vice versa.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

also in the DC Clothesline article:

Preston (PJ Media) points to increased homicides in 2020 versus 2019 as proof that defunding APD was a mistake. However, APD had not yet been defunded at that time, and those increases in deaths probably had more to do with the Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) lockdowns and George Floyd mayhem than anything else.

Besides the timing being off, the APD was never defunded.

The murder rate in Austin so far in 2021 is 3.25/100,000 population (32 murders). There are some 80 Texas towns with higher murder rates so far this year. The rates are higher in Arlington, El Paso, Abilene, Killeen, Dallas, Corpus Christi, Waco, Forest Hills, Houston, San Antonio, Odessa, Port Arthur, Fort Worth, Texarkana, Kilgore, Galveston, Lubbock… you get the idea. For a city of 1 million Texans, Austin is not very violent, is it? And isn’t Texas a Red, Red state?

Obviously Rimjob knows very little about Austin.
