Democrats Release Draft Plan For COVID Stimulus Payments

If getting relief to citizens who are suffering is so darned important, why not simply put forth a stand-alone bill with the stimulus payments?

Stimulus checks would be capped at $100,000 income under Democrat plan. What we know

House Democrats unveiled a proposal Monday that would cap direct payments for individuals making up to $100,000 a year and couples making up to $200,000.

House Ways and Means Chairman Richard Neal, a Massachusetts Democrat, released legislation that would provide $1,400 checks to individuals earning $75,000 a year and married couples earning $150,000 a year — the same income thresholds in Biden’s $1.9 trillion emergency plan released in January. The plan has a faster phase-out than in previous proposals, capping payments at $100,000 for individuals and $200,000 for couples.

The plan by House Democrats may not be the final version of the income eligibility requirements as lawmakers negotiate a bill they hope to pass before Mar. 14, the day that $300 weekly unemployment benefits approved in December’s coronavirus package expire. That timeline has added to lawmakers’ desire to go with the budget reconciliation route, a process that allows for “expedited consideration” of legislation on spending, taxes and debt and would enable Democrats to pass the bill without any GOP support.

“While it is still our hope that Republicans will join us in doing right by the American people, the urgency of the moment demands that we act without further delay,” Neal said in a statement.

What’s so urgent about March 14? That’s over a month away. Democrats knew they would have majorities months ago, yet seemed to have no actual plan ready to go. Unless the plan is to use the pandemic and economic devastation caused partially by locking down the economy, then continued by mostly Democrat rulers keeping states and cities locked down, to jam through a far left wish list. Because there will be few Republican votes in the House, and Democrats have to play games in the Senate by using reconciliation to get it passed. They’re still planning on jamming through the minimum wage hike to $15, which would kill millions of jobs.

A group of 10 Republican senators, led by Maine’s Susan Collins, released a plan on Feb. 1 that includes $1,000 direct payments to Americans instead of the $1,400 checks proposed by Biden. The plan would provide $1,000 stimulus checks for individuals making up to $40,000 a year and phase them out completely when income reaches $50,000. Joint filers would get $2,000, with the payments phasing out beginning at $80,000 a year with an income cap at $100,000.

That does make more sense, especially in terms of who would get the money. Do we really need it for higher earners? If they were smart they’d be on TV and social media and stuff constantly saying they’d be willing to compromise but that it’s super important to pass a stimulus immediately, and that it should be voted in a standalone bill which is “clean”, meaning it is solely about stimulus checks.

Not so much stimulus as payoffs, money laundering and looting the federal treasury. Only a small part will go to the checks to families.

  2. Elwood P. Dowd says:

If the DemCommie plan was to lockdown cities, counties and states to defeat tRump who, according to GOPNazis, won anyway… why have the restrictions and lockdowns continued? Common sense, always in short supply with conservatives, dictates that the DemCommies would quickly re-open and let the good times roll. Just possibly this was another GOPNazi conspiracy tale proven false.

Let’s see… SARS-CoV-2 wasn’t a CCP plot to “get” tRump. It’s not just like the flu. Covid-19 was not a hoax, exaggerated by Fauci et al to “get” tRump. City, county and state Dems (and weak GOPhers) didn’t employ restrictions to wreck the economy to “get” tRump. It turns out it was the American VOTER who “got” tRump.

      The esteemed Mr Dowd asked:

Let’s see, in foul, fetid, fuming, foggy, filthy Philadelphia, Mayor Jim Kenney is now going to allow increased indoor dining. Los Angeles just allowed outdoor dining to resume. Governor Andrew Cuomo has just announced that restaurants in New York City can reopen on February 12th. (Already have two links, so no more documentation.) Chicago is allowing indoor dining again.

So, yes, it seems as though the restrictions and lockdowns are being eased.

But, of course, not all the way, because the authoritarians want to keep on authoritarianing.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Mr Dowd ignores that cities have been allowing and disallowing restrictions throughout the entire pandemic, usually based on local conditions.

To their governor’s credit, foul, fetid, fuming, foggy, filthy Kentucky is doing a good job distributing vaccine. Pristine Missouri, with our incompetent Governor, is dead last in distribution. Gov Parsons is allocating vaccine to sparsely populated red counties while withholding from St. Louis and Kansas City areas.

Although we’re still seeing some 3,000 deaths every day, national new cases have declined some 75% since the early January peak! 75%. Of course, we understand that the right-wing conspiracy argument (sans evidence) will be that the Deep State CDC is now underreporting new cases to make Biden look good, but the reality is that masking, social distancing and awareness is working (not to mention 10% of Americans have been vaccinated). We know deaths lag behind new cases, so deaths should drop after new cases drop. But we’re hardly out of the woods, with the more contagious and more deadly UK variant now in the US population. Fortunately, the vaccine appears effective against the new variant.

Right out of the CCP playbook, huh, Rimjob?

Lockdowns are not public health measures to reduce the spread of a virus. They are political instruments, which is why Democratic Party officials who put their constituents under repeated lengthy lockdowns, like New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, are signaling publicly that it is imperative they be allowed to reopen immediately now that Trump is safely gone.

  3. Elwood P. Dowd says:

And if you missed the video shown by the Impeachment Managers at yesterday’s session:

Warning: The tRump mob uses the “f” word a lot.

tRumpublican Senators such as Paul, Lee, Cruz, Rubio wouldn’t watch and doodled or fumbled papers during the video.

tRump’s lead attorney argued that tRump LOST the election.

The Senate voted 56-44 that the proceedings WERE Constitutional.

    • The Xiden Junta says:

The Senate is NOT the arbiters of Constitutionality, dipshit. Basically it’s just another show trial with a stacked jury. Your typical fascist modus operandi.

Again, read the transcript of Trumps 1/6 speech, I did. He made no threats nor advanced no idea that anyone should go to the Capitol and riot. He called for a peaceful and Patriotic protest and that is all.

Truth don’t matter to fascist liars.

      • Professor Hale says:

Nothing says peaceful transition of power like rounding up your political enemies for show trials and promising to persecute their families and ruin their businesses.

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Nothing says “peaceful transfer of power” like refusing the transition team, like accusing the winner of fraud, cheating and stealing the election, like trying to influence GOP state legislators and election officials to overturn the election and find him 11,780 votes (GA), like urging your violent mob to storm the Capitol and stop the certification.

Although trump’s lawyer admitted that trump lost, the ex-prezzy has yet to admit it.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

        Mr XJ,

The Senate had a vote on whether they considered the trial Constitutional. They voted 56-44 to go forward, shitlips. You may not be aware but the tRump “case” (such as it was) was to persuade the Senate that the process of convicting a former president was unConstitutional, shitlips.

I’ve read and listened to trumps 11,000 word, 44 min speech. If you don’t believe he was urging his mob to violence, read and/or listen again.

The Senate will decide if trump incited violence.

The DOJ may also pursue charges.

        • drowningpuppies says:

Elmo P.(for Pussy) Rimjob wants to prosecute people for thought crimes.
          How CCP can one get?

          How’s that impeachment trial going?

        • drowningpuppies says:

It’s over, Rimjob. Have a clue for once in your miserable little life.

There’s no way that the 44 senators who (correctly and righteously) voted that this proceeding is an unconstitutional farce will then somehow vote to convict. Not gonna happen, never was gonna happen. Meanwhile, Trump remains as popular as ever.

  4. Hairy says:

Teach will never admit that he was wrong for cheerleading the invasion and occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan and he will never admit tgat he was wrong tgat Covid was “fake news”

    • Dana says:

According to our host’s archives, his very first post was on July 22, 2004, well after the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s kind of difficult to claim that he was “cheerleading” for something after it already happened.

    • Jl says:

And John will never admit that he has no clue on what “Trump should have done” in regards to the pandemic.

  5. Leftists are Liars says:

You’ll be pleased to hear the feds made a second visit to my sons house this morning, Elwood. They told him they are “following up” on people who they believe may “pose a threat” because they attended the Stop the Steal rally. he told them exactly what he told me. There were about 30,000 people around the Capitol of which about 3,000 of whom were at the barricade. The Cops opened the barricade and let some in, maybe a few hundred who walked between the velvet ropes and looked around then left. Meanwhile about 30-40 militants (mostly Antifa) broke the windows at the side and went on a spree inside. That’s all he can say because he did not even get to the barricade let alone into the building.

The feds stated they were “investigating” because the protesters were part of a terrorist organization and when my BLACK son asked which one they told him “White supremacists” which both he and I thought were individuals not a Club like the Kiwanis. It was at that point my son asked “do I look like a White supremacist?” and the feds having no sense of self awareness (like every fascist) replied “we can’t be too sure”. They gave him more fed business cards and left with the warning that if he is found to be involved the response would be hard on him. He thinks they were hinting they would go to his employer and tell him my boy is a terrorist. But that’s just his feeling about the interview.

So there you have it Elwood. With any luck the foster son of anon-essential deplorable may be “disappeared”. Don’t you feel safer now knowing how your illegal “government” is handling all these black White racists?

    • Professor Hale says:

Glad to see the FBI is back to their old tricks of targeting imaginary threats instead of actual criminals. MS-13, Antifa, and the democratic party money laundering and bribery machine have nothing to worry about.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Crimes were committed at the Capitol, so it’s proper for the FBI to investigate.

By all means report what you know about money laundering and bribery to the FBI.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

It sounds as if your son may have lied to the FBI. If he never got close how could he know how many went in? How could he know if they were antifa (they weren’t)? How did he know what they did inside the Capitol? He may have lied to you about what the agents asked him as well. Or you’re making up the entire tale. Who knows, as you lie so much.

      • The Liar Junta says:

You are the quintessential reprobate, Elwood. You have zero worth as a human being and you have the empathy of a viper.

My son was there with two other friends (I believe I said this before). He and one guy stayed at the barricade because they saw the Antifa people (they wore Antifa shirts under their jackets, so they were!) and stayed behind while Tony went in for a look see. When the Antifa split off and started smashing windows he took off. He told them what went on and my boy related it to the feds. The feds also interviewed the other two guys. My son is not like your family and I am not like you so your need to project by saying he and I are lying because that’s what you do holds no credibility.

In fact the very idea you said that indicates to me and I’m sure the rest of the guys here, that you have been and still are lying to us. Projection is the mask liars wear Elwood.

        • david7134 says:

Whatever you do, keep your son from talking to the FBI without legal help. The reason for getting multiple statements is to make him lie. A lie is as simple as getting times mixed up or who he talked with. That is what nailed Trumps friends. The reason is to bring a false charge, then make him say bad things about principal targets. People think they are being helpful, but the cops have a different agenda.

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

So your son relayed what Tony saw to the FBI? Got it. antifa shirts, LOL.

  6. Leftists are all Liars! says:

Thanks for you concern and advice, david7134. My son and I spoke at length after dinner tonight about these things. I cannot go into detail here due to the fact that I wouldn’t trust Elwood as far as I could throw him and he is just the type to drop a dime. My son (and his friends) are aware of the minefield talking to enemies of freedom whose allegiance is to the régime rather than the Constitution or the US. We pretty much concluded that if there is another visit nothing will be said without a lawyer. As you say they deliberately try and make you contradict yourself then you end up being perp walked in your undershorts at 3 am by 12 SS troopers with automatic weapons.

    • david7134 says:

We have secured Trumps address and a number of us are writing thank you notes to his place in Florida. Might consider passing that along.
