If I understand correctly, these two legislators want to pass a bill that will require the executive to take action without a law passed by the legislature.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) introduced legislation on Thursday that would require the president to declare a national emergency on climate change.

Declaring a national emergency would give President Biden more power to combat climate change, including the ability to direct extra funding to the issue.

The long-shot resolution follows a statement from Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) suggesting that Biden could declare a climate emergency to be able to take additional actions using emergency powers.

However, it would face an uphill battle to cross the 60-vote threshold to become filibuster-proof and could also face opposition from moderate Democrats.

It would basically give China Joe all sorts of extra-Constitutional powers. I wonder if AOC and Comrade Biden even considered that if a Republican wins in 2024, that person could use that power to do things like impose massive new taxes on high carbon polluting cities, build nuclear power plants which Dems are against, and increase domestic drilling because the “carbon footprint” is smaller than if fossil fuels are imported? Probably not.

I also wonder if AOC and Comrade Sanders have given up their own use of fossil fuels since there is a climate emergency. And will any reporter ask them hard questions on their own carbon footprints? Doubtful.
