We’re One Step Closer To A Space Force

But, not really worth it

White House, Democrats strike tentative deal to create Space Force in exchange for federal parental-leave benefits: report

The White House and House Democrats have reportedly reached a tentative deal to authorize the creation of the Space Force, a priority for the Trump administration first outlined in an executive order by the president earlier this year.

The Washington Post reported Sunday that Democrats and White House negotiators had struck a bargain that would authorize the creation of the agency in exchange for a policy establishing 12 weeks of paid parental leave time for federal workers.

It isn’t clear if the plan will be able to win enough Republican support to pass the Senate, according to the Post, but the plan appears to have the backing of both President Trump and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), a rare moment of compromise amid the House’s impeachment hearings.

“Trump doesn’t like the so-called ‘deep state’ and I doubt that he’s going to bed at night saying, ‘Look what I did for federal workers,’ Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) told the Post. “But it was a trade-off for him. And it’s good policy.”

Guess who gets to pay for all this? Must be nice to take a job where you know what the benefits are then get government to provide you with more benefits that Someone Else pays for.

  1. I find it amazing that the democrats think that the one thing that is wrong with America is “not enough paid time off for the government employees”. It’s like they are writing campaign commercials for Republicans.

  2. Elwood P. Dowd says:

    Space Force!

Ivanka and Donald both support parental leave. It sounds like a compromise.

Trump will renege soon, of course.

    • Doom and Gloom says:

Its not the Donald or the democrats. Its the fringe loons on the right who want to save a few million bucks each year while spending a trillion.

Gotta be seen as hating on those social programs and especially women. You see Elwood.

Its a one party system. Run by Billionaires. Right now both parties and I do mean both are beholden to the billionaires that run this nation and this world.

A space force. Paternal leave…..guess what. It’s meant to get you and me fighting while the rich keep destroying middle America.

Don’t believe me. Look up Sidney, Nebraska and Cabella’s and how a GOP billionaire destroyed an entire TOWN for 90 million dollars. The mother^#$&%@.

      • Professor Hale says:

So? Save your pennies and become a Billionaire. Then you can decide which towns get a corporate HQ.

        • Doom and Gloom says:

Says the MIC defender. So what you say is that a billionaire gets to decide who lives and who dies?

So your okay with George Soros spending billions in America to destroy the fabric of our society because he IS A BILLIONAIRE?

Awesome. You are definitely a MIC employee.

          • I do not defend the “MIC”. I have a decades long record saying that the DoD is just another bloated bureaucracy and that the US military needs to be cut at least in half. Understanding something does not make me a supporter of it.
If you own the company, you get to say where the company puts it’s offices. The moral of your story could just as easily be: Don’t build anything in a small town because you will get blamed if they lose their jobs. This has nothing to do with “deciding who lives or dies”. Hostile takeovers can only happen if you publicly trade your company. In other words, the owners cashed in. That’s what happens when you sell your company. Someone else gets to call the shots. No town has a moral right to have a corporate HQ. They only have a right to a Wall-mart if they buy enough to justify keeping it open.
I don’t care about George Soros. Plenty of other people do. Go chat with them about it. The fabric of America has lots and lots of groups tearing at it. No need to give all the credit to one guy. But you go right ahead if you want to. Everyone needs a hobby. I’ve never met Soros, but from his picture, that looks like a problem that will take care of itself pretty soon.

        • Doom and Gloom says:

For the rest of you who might be interested. Cabella’s was doing just fine. Earning a 2 billion per year profit. This Bastard hedge fund vulture bought 11 percent stake in Cabella’s and then told them to sell or he would do a hostile take over even though they were doing fine and making money.

So they did out of fear they could not stand against a billionaire with friends. Bass pro Shops bought them out and relocated the entire business in Sidney, NE to wherever. The town of 8k lost 2k jobs almost overnight because of this Vulture.

This Bastard then sold his share and made 90 million dollars and he was off looking for the next company to destroy. He is a major GOP contributor and the GOP is afraid of this Ahole. This is what runs America. Not your elected politicians. Billionaires and the Deep state own and operate America. The rest of us just rent space here.

    • formwiz says:

The two are not mutually exclusive.

Notice what he doesn’t want to talk about.

  3. John says:

    Teach
If you had decided to work for the Feds ( some people call that public service) you would be ready to retire with 30 years !
    You sound a bit envious
Of course it was your fav POTUS Who expanded the Federal workers by 1.2 million workers

    • formwiz says:

some people call that public service

I can assure you nobody who’s ever done it has or anyone who’s seen that “service” (remember, it’s what the bull does to the cow).

And, no, he’s not envious. Any moron can work for the government. Look at Gropin’ Joe.

Of course it was your fav POTUS Who expanded the Federal workers by 1.2 million workers

And Zippy ought to be sent to a Haitian landfill for the rest of his life for it.

    • Doom and Gloom says:

Hey, John have you ever heard of saving money? Its called a 401k or a Roth IRA or a regular IRA. If you invest the maximum in the IRA you will have well over 2 million in the bank in 30 years.

      Are you envious?

If you work for a company that has a 401k and contributes on top of what you earn you put in the maximum in each year, you can have between 5-10 million in 30 years.

      Are you envious yet?

In other words. I worked 24 years in the Military and got a percent of my base pay when I retired for life because I retired long before the current changes have been instituted. It is hardly like saving my own money for retirement.

However, during that time Both my Wife and I contributed to a regular IRA which we did not touch until I was 65 and we have over 2.2 million invested.

Its called working and saving John. Are you envious yet?

But that being said. I have no problem with the women getting extra paternity leave.

Federal employees who give birth or adopt a child can use up to three months of unpaid leave under FMLA. U.S. federal government employees do not receive a single week of paid parental leave after the birth or adoption of a child and must use available vacation or sick leave

So letting them get paid will boost Trump’s stock with women and that cant hurt in 2020 and the cost will be trivial. If you want to offset it how about we take some of HALES money away to pay for it. You know the MIC who is spending countless billions in Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Saudia Arabia, Yemen and missions in Central Africa.

      .

      • D&G,
What a total hypocrite you are. You retired from the military after 24 years. You are every bit as much of a MIC member as I am. We should take back YOUR money to pay for swamp paid time off.

  4. John says:

    Who pays for this ?
Trump will just put it onto the trillion dollar deficit

    • formwiz says:

You mean the one Zippy left him?

Notice the one thing Hypocrite Hare doesn’t want to talk about.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

No one left Stumpy a trillion dollar deficit, he has created his own – every year for as far as a Repub can see into the future. Is it your contention that only Democratic deficits are bad?

        • formwiz says:

          No, Zippy created nothing.

He gave a contract to a publishing company to write the Common Core texts and they gave him a huge book contract (how will he write it without William Ayers to tell him what he thinks).

          I’d call that a Quid Pro O.

Is it your contention that only Democratic deficits are bad?

They seem to be the ones that create them. Let’s abolish entitlements and find out.

  5. Nighthawk says:

EVERY federal worker gets 12 weeks of paid parental leave?

I somehow think that the ONLY federal workers worth a shit won’t be getting this and that’s our military men and women.

    • Professor Hale says:

Your bias is astonishing. There is nothing sacred or special about the uniformed services that makes them different than any other part of the Federal government “swamp”. The DoD, and all of it’s parts are just as much a huge bloated bureaucracy as is HHS, Dept of Ed, and the EPA. More so just based on their size alone. The US Army has only ten active duty divisions, and yet has over 400 generals on active duty. Just among uniformed service members, the tooth to tail ratio is still about 1:9, with the tail being the largest. It includes not just logistics and medical people, but also ceremonial troops, entertainers, and more chaplains than you can shake a stick at. Then there are the HQ troops. No one can waste money like the uniformed services.
