Saving The Republic: Democrats To Delay Impeachment

Democrats keep telling us that impeachment is Very Important, that the very republic is at stake. That Orange Man Bad did very bad things. Yet, they refuse to take a formal vote on holding an impeachment investigation, block Republicans from being a part of it, do stuff in secret, don’t seem to want the so-called whistleblower involved, and…

House Democrats are facing a time crunch to quickly wrap up their investigation into allegations President Donald Trump abused his office in pushing Ukraine to probe his political rivals, prompting growing expectations that votes on impeaching Trump could slip closer to the end of the year.

Some Democrats had hoped that a narrow probe — focused on whether Trump put on ice efforts to bolster relations with Ukraine and provide US military aid to the country until it carried through with a political favor — could conclude swiftly, with a potential vote to impeach Trump by Thanksgiving.

But that has proven to be more complicated than it initially seemed, according to multiple Democratic lawmakers and sources. The reason: Each witness has so far provided more leads for investigators to chase down, including new names to potentially interview or seek documents from. (snip)

The challenge facing Democrats: They want to conduct a thorough investigation, but prolonging the probe will continue to consume Washington — and risks bumping into the presidential election season if proceedings drag into the new year. (snip)

“I think it’s more like between Thanksgiving and Christmas” for the end of the investigation, said one Democratic member involved in the probe. “After that, it’s a strategic decision about when to bring it to the floor.”

A committee source said that “putting an artificial time limit is the wrong way to run a credible investigation.”

The problem for them is, of course, that the whole Ukraine thing is disappearing from the public conscience, and while they say they will eventually hold public hearings and release transcripts from the secret ones, people will have moved on, as well as realized that this is international politics, heck, domestic politics, that it happens all the time. And they’re all afraid that they will have to vote at some point. That they won’t now shows that they are afraid.

The Democrats want to drag it out, hoping their pals in the news keep covering it. But, how did that work with Russia Russia Russia? Adam Schiff swore he had everything necessary on it, yet, provided nothing, and it all become a big nothing burger. Think Trump won’t remind people about that?

  1. Nighthawk says:

When all this started they planned on having their secret meetings done and cherry picked, out of context testimony to present to the full house. But again, Trump trumped them by releasing the transcript. Doing this screwed up their plans to lie to the House and the American people about what occurred during that phone call. Pelosi screwed up announcing these inquiries before knowing exactly how Trump would respond. Just like 2016, they gambled it all on one throw of the dice. And like 2016, they lost. Now they are in damage control mode and it’s glorious to see. AGAIN!

  2. Doom and Gloom says:

IF they bring proceedings to the senate the way they are doing things right now it will be the biggest crime in the history of the US House of Representatives.

7 people behind closed doors in secret are holding hearings and with an army of lawyers, they are listening to testimony and NOT ALLOWING THE GOP to question the witnesses nor bring in their own witnesses.

Trump screams they are not doing the people’s work but rather going after Trump. Let’s see if this is true.

Welcome to the one-party system of government:

The House of Representatives adjourned the 2019 regular legislative session Thursday having passed a total of 298 bills including measures to make reforms in our prison and bail systems, streamline.

Just terrible isn’t it but wait.

In 2018 when the GOP was in charge of the HOUSE:

House Speaker Paul Ryan said on “Face the Nation” Sunday that the House of Representatives has passed about 1,000 bills this session of Congress.

    NO WAY!!!

    Verdict: True

The House has passed 1,032 bills and joint resolutions in the current session, the third-highest number in the last 30 years. The number of bills that have become law, however, is low compared to the last few decades.

So again even with the house and senate and presidency in the hands of the GOP very few of 1000 bills passed actually became law and the left is moaning that the right won’t let any of the democrat’s agenda pass. HELL, they won’t let their own agenda passed.

Welcome to the one-party system. Nothing becomes law with the exception of a couple of high profile bills each year. IF we actually put into law everything passed by both sides we wouldn’t be able to walk the streets without being arrested for something.

TLDR: 298 bills in one year by the Democrats vs 1032 bills by the GOP. I report. You decide. Is Trump telling the truth when the Democrats arent doing the peoples work because they are too busy trying to impeach him?

  3. John says:

Teach do you like Trump believe that some clauses in our Constitution are “phony” ?
Trump in his oath of office swore to defend the Constitution but now he publicly stated that part of it it “phony”
As far as “ how did that work out” ? Trump is the least popular POTUS
The 2018 House election was a direct reply to your Dear Leader
And since then, his polling has been worse
Even Drudge is now reporting. Riyically on him every day

    • Doom and Gloom says:

I believe there are parts of the constitution that are phony. BUT they are in the constitution and therefore I will adhere to them and uphold them despite pinning for the day in which they might be changed or amended.

DO you remember Obama ordering his DOJ NOT TO UPHOLD THE LAW? No I didnt think so. He picked and choosed the laws he would uphold.

Did Barack Obama Fail to Uphold Constitutional Oath to Enforce Laws of Land?

We could point to numerous instances, especially regarding the Defense of Marriage Act and Obama’s immigration policy. In both instances, he ignored the law. With immigration, he decided to pick and choose what he would enforce and with DOMA he instructed his justice department to no longer defend it. However, a House committee held a hearing yesterday to challenge Obama for failing to uphold his duty as President, under the Constitution, to enforce the nation’s laws. Specifically, the committee looked at whether or not Obama sidestepped Congress and failed to enforce his own signature healthcare law, the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare.

Least Popular POTUS. Don’t you think that was probably Bush Jr. or NIXON. As for his numbers.

On April 12 and 13, President Donald Trump’s approval rating, according to the Rasmussen Reports, was 50 percent. At the same point in Barack Obama’s presidency, Obama’s approval rating per Rasmussen was 48 percent and 49 percent.

Seems OBAMA is the least popular president in History. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.

      How about the averages.

Gallup Poll: Trump Approval Higher Than Obama’s At Same Point in Presidency

Do you just randomly throw lies at websites hoping some dumbshit will believe you?

AS far as Druge….good. If the establishment GOP is after Trump HE IS DOING SOMETHING RIGHT. Good For Trump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Professor Hale says:

It’s all about the election. They need to time their unsupportable allegations closer to the vote. If they peak too soon, it will lose impact. It is all political. All partisan. Democrats will do anything to win.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Donald Trump is using the State Department, the DOJ, the military and who knows what other part of our gov’t as his campaign team. So yes, it is all about the election. Trump’s life depends on him winning.

He is creating distraction after international crisis as he searches for what he thinks will be a winning strategy.

If it looks as if he will lose (and it does, at this time), he’ll cut a deal and disappear.

      • Bill589 says:

“Trump’s life depends on him winning.”
Nope. He was doing great before winning the election.
        No ‘dependence’ on political office.

      • Doom and Gloom says:

Trump’s life depends on him winning.

So desperate, so hateful of a politician. Actually, this statement is totally in error. The moment he becomes a civilian again all of those evil charges against him can then be enforced. He has at most 5 more years before the hammer drops according to the Elwoods of the world and their wishful thinking.

Even when Obama refused to enforce the law. The House of Reps did not IMPEACH Obama for High crimes and misdemeanors nor want to throw their opponents in jail. The left has lost their minds. Quite literally.

  5. […] For the left, politics is a kind of fashion, where certain phrases, ideas, and approaches are either en vogue or outre. There is no absolute truth undergirding their reasoning, nor are there any ironclad alliances (witness the erasing of women, last season’s identity group); all that matters is whatever sticks to the wall this season to get them the power they desire. The Pirate’s Cove has the details on when this line is expected to be retired. […]

  6. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Whiny titty baby little Donnie Trump is a victim! Both he and the Belle of Charleston angrily call the Constitutional investigation of his crimes a “lynching”. Of course, lynching is illegal while impeachment is Constitutional.

USCS Const. Art. II, § 4

“The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors”.

Ambassador Bill Taylor: Trump solicited electoral dirt on a political opponent from Ukraine, withholding appropriated military funds to a nation under threat from Russia unless they investigated Biden.

OMB (headed by Mick Mulvaney who is also tRump’s Chief of Staff) was instructed to withhold security assistance funds intended for Ukraine unless the Ukrainian President stated he was investigating Biden.

Is Ambassador Taylor a commie traitor? Should tRump have him prosecuted?

    • formwiz says:

Clarence Thomas called his inquisition a high tech Lynching for uppity blacks.

This is what Democrats and Leftists do.

Ambassador Bill Taylor: Trump solicited electoral dirt on a political opponent from Ukraine, withholding appropriated military funds to a nation under threat from Russia unless they investigated Biden.

Try again. He says he was told that Hearsay.

Is Ambassador Taylor a commie traitor? Should tRump have him prosecuted?

      If he’s lying, yes.

    • Doom and Gloom says:

Taylor arrived in Ukraine a month after the abrupt ousting of Ambassador Yovanovitch and the inauguration of the country’s new president Volodymyr Zelensky. But following President Donald Trump’s phone call with the new Ukranian president, Taylor questioned Trump’s motivation in a text to Gordon Sondland, the United States Ambassador to the European Union: “Are we now saying that security assistance and WH meeting are conditioned on investigations?” Sondland told him to phone.[13]

On October 3, 2019, it was revealed that Taylor had expressed, in text messages, concern that President Trump may have withheld aid to Ukraine unless they investigated corruption in Ukraine and interference in the 2016 US election. According to transcripts released by the house impeachment probe, Taylor on September 9, 2019, at 12:47:11 AM texted, “I think it’s crazy to withhold security assistance for help with a political campaign.” He also texted that withholding military aid would be a nightmare because it sends the wrong message to both Kyiv and Moscow. “The Russians love it. (And I quit).”[14]

People are so fuking obsessed with the Russians.

Over four hours later, at 5:19:35 AM,[15] in his response to Taylor, Gordon Sondland, the United States Ambassador to the European Union, responded that the charge is “incorrect.” “Bill, I believe you are incorrect about President Trump’s intentions. The President has been crystal clear: no quid pro quo’s of any kind. The President is trying to evaluate whether Ukraine is truly going to adopt the transparency and reforms that President Zelensk’y promised during his campaign.”[15

He then suggested Taylor call the Executive Secretary of the United States Department of State about any concerns[16]: “I suggest we stop the back and forth by text If you still have concerns I recommend you give Lisa Kenna or S a call to discuss them directly. Thanks.“[17] In his testimony during the impeachment inquiry Sondland noted that it was only out of his deep respect for Taylor that he tried to address Taylor’s concerns.[18] Taylor gave a deposition before a closed-door session of the House Intelligence Committee on October 22, 2019

IF this was such damning testimony I would think they would vote today to impeach. There is nothing here other than someone quitting because he didnt like the order he was given. I went to the VA and saw a doctor who had just retired after serving 30 years in the US Airforce. He was a full bull colonel in the USAF and he brought that mentality to the VA with him.

He literally started screaming at me and telling me he didnt owe me a fuking thing because I was pissed at the VA for giving me a certain medicine for 17 years and then suddenly telling me to go fuk myself. Literally.

The point is when you are a military officer you tend to think only YOU have a fuking clue about anything. I saw it 24×7 in Vietnam. I saw it in 24 years in the US Army. I saw it in civil service after the army and now I see it whenever they bring in a retired military doctor who thinks they are GOD and by god you will stand at attention and take this butt fuking and like it because I AM GOD.

This is what I see in this Taylor Dude. He got pissed because he didnt agree with Trumps call and QUIT…….wah, wah, wah………I quit….I quit. I’m going to congress because all my democratic buddies are going down if I let this stand……..wah, wah, wah.

      • Doom and Gloom says:

“I wrote and transmitted such a cable on August 29, describing the ‘folly’ I saw in withholding military aid to Ukraine at a time when hostilities were still active in the east and when Russia was watching closely to gauge the level of American support for the Ukrainian government,” Taylor said. “I told the secretary that I could not and would not defend such a policy.

I wonder how much money he gets from the MIC. He is so concerned with Russia. BOO!!!! I bet he just crapped his pants. Another one seeing Russians behind every corner. This is fuking sad and like Noam Chomsky said in an interview. The whole world is laughing at the USA over their obsession with Russia.

Hey J-let’s not forget little baby Bill Clinton….

  8. After Trump wins re-election, will Jeff admit he was wrong? How about when Trump finishes his second term and leaves office without any drama? Of course not. Being deranged means never needing to admit you were wrong, even when it is plainly visible. And being a democratic party activist on the internet means being incapable of feeling shame. It would be interesting to go back through Jeff’s comment history in the Bush administration and see how many times Jeff was wrong then too.
