What the heck are you talking about? If the Midwest were to isolate itself, it would collapse economically. So would New York City for that matter. Medicare is 750 billion dollars for 41 million people. Lets extrapolate. 41×8 equals 328,000,000 people. 8×750 equals over 6 trillion dollars for medicare for all. PER YEAR.

The TOTAL expenditure in the US per year is about $3 trillion/year. That’s total. Private insurance, medicines, Medicare, Medicaid, deductibles, VA, co-pays… all in. Comes out to about $10,000/ person or about twice what other modern nations pay per person.
Your arithmetic is BS. Do current Medicare patients require more healthcare expenditures? What do you think? Of course they do. They’re older and sicker and private insurance wants no part of the market. So using that as a basis of your “calculations” is bogus as you know. How much do you think Medicare for seniors would cost on the open insurance market? Health insurance such as found in Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Japan, Israel etc would save working class Americans money, and give them some much needed peace of mind.
Regarding college… when GOPhers started their worship of the rich some 40 years ago, cutting taxes on the wealthy, besides increasing the debt (tripled under Reagan/Bush I), it also reduced money for states, who had to continually cut funding for public education to help with their budgets. Universities are cutting full-time professors and instructors, adding part-time (adjunct) faculty but ADDING more and more expensive administrators (deans, VPs, asst deans). In addition, there is more demand for college educations today, as more and more jobs require a college education. (Making a college education out of reach for the masses has always been a conservative objective). Do you believe only the wealthy should be able to attend college?
Maybe The Don can get Mexico to pay for it all.
