Finally, a Democrat and the House have done something for the greater good
While most of Washington was focused on Tuesday’s election results, the House was busy doing something else: Passing a resolution about beer.
House Resolution 1297, sponsored by Rep. Betsy Markey, supports “the goals and ideals of American Craft Beer Week.”
“We’ve got quite a number of microbreweries and entrepreneurs that are creating jobs, and we wanted to celebrate that this is a craft,” Markey told POLITICO.
“I think beer has been a tradition since this country was founded,” said Markey. “We wanted to celebrate entrepreneurship — and good beer!”
There’s just one problem: American Craft Beer Week started on the 17th. Probably would have been beerter if they had passed it Monday, or last week, but, hey, at least they got it passed. The Dem led Congress let a resolution supporting Mother’s Day languish for over a year. Heck, they let a resolution supporting the people of Greensburg, Ks., after that monster tornado in 2007, sit in committee for 8 days.
In fairness, the resolution was introduced April 22nd. Oh, wait, that’s worse. Just take a vote, peeps!
My favorite beers are Michelob Light, Carolina Pale Ale, and anything served by a pretty woman in a bikini. What are your faves?
Amstel Lite, Victory Festbeir, and of course Guinness.
Colt 45, Labatts Blue (I live in Canada, though I came up from PA), Coors Extra Gold, and Guiness.

Now that’s my kind of resolution! This is probably the most worthwhile proposal Congress has come up with this year
I saw this earlier and couldn’t quite figure out how angry I was. I knew I was pissed and highly upset that they would waste our time like this…… but then I realized… Heck, par for the course.

Favorite beers? Too numerous to count for me! There is a marvelous bar here in Memphis,TN called the UFO that claims to have every beer from all over the world. They give out prizes to those who drink every beer on the menu. It’s called the UFO so come to the south, bring your beer “bucket list” Yo Ho!
Manbearpig- you need some new insults, chief. So repetitive.
Screech- the beers I mentioned are just fine for me. No prozac needed. Funny that a guy who believes in “intelligent” design suggests that someone else needs psychoactive medication. You’re the one that’s delusional, genius.
FV- Memphis is a toilet. There isn’t enough beer in Shelby county to hide this fact. And I highly doubt your place has “every beer from all over the world”, as a good number of brews from “all over the world” aren’t imported to the U.S.
Of course Memphis is a toilet and of course no amount of beer can hide that fact. But we have fun trying!
