There Is No Al Qaeda In Iraq

Now, repeat that three times, and throw in a "they are only there because we are there"

BAGHDAD (AP) — U.S. forces detained 17 suspected insurgents in raids targeting al-Qaida in Iraq on Saturday, the military said, a day after the Pentagon announced the capture of one of the terror network's most senior and experienced operatives.

Elsewhere, U.S. fighter jets destroyed a truck bomb discovered in Anbar province, and an American raid south of Baghdad netted insurgent weapons apparently imported from neighboring Iran, the military said Saturday.

I question the timing (snicker)

The insurgent group has claimed responsibility for some of the deadliest attacks in Iraq, including the bombing last year of a revered Shiite mosque in Samarra, which touched off a cycle of sectarian killings.

Insurgent? Crack pipe meet AP.

The U.S. military in Baghdad said Saturday's raids targeting suspected al-Qaida in Iraq insurgents netted four people in Mosul; six near Karmah, 50 miles west of Baghdad; two near the Syrian border; two in the Iraqi capital; and three near Balad, 50 miles north of Baghdad. The statement linked some to al-Qaida in Iraq, including one who allegedly served as an intelligence officer.

"Al Qaeda insurgents attacked the World Trade Center and Pentagon." I'm sure the AP would love to print that, eh?

"We're achieving a deliberate, systematic disruption in the al-Qaida in Iraq network," Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, a U.S. military spokesman, said in the statement.

What the hell does he know? He's just some military goof. Better that people listen to folks like John Edwards, Harry Reid, and ABSCAM Murtha. They know the real score.

Teach, who is saying al-Qaeda is not in Iraq?

  2. John Ryan says:

Straw man argument, I guess you really showed them !!
uh, exactly who is thinking that al Queda is not NOW firmly in Iraq?

  3. beth says:

Nancy Pelosi said she felt sorry for the President that he thought al-Qaeda was in Iraq. She sneered about it.

I KNOW they are there and believe our boots on the ground. It’s a REAL war and one hell of a dangerous place.

  4. Silke, all over the left side of the ‘net, they deny Al Qaeda was ever in Iraq, and many deny that they are there now. Many Dem politicians deny it, as well.

John, cruise the Daily Kos, Huff Post, DU, etc, and see how they think it is all some sort of booga booga designed to scare the American public.

And, Beth, yup, you’re quite correct about Pelosi http://hotair.com/archives/2006/11/28/pelosi-defends-al-qaeda-chastises-bush/

  5. Silke says:

Beth, is this the comment you are referring to?…

“GEORGE W. BUSH, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: There‘s a lot of sectarian violence taking place, fomented, in my opinion, because of these attacks by—by al Qaeda, causing people to seek reprisal.

NANCY PELOSI (D-CA), SPEAKER-ELECT OF THE HOUSE: My thoughts on the president‘s representations are well known. The 9/11 Commission dismissed that notion a long time ago, and I feel sad that the president is resorting to it again.
We want to work in a bipartisan way with that, but if the president persists on the course that he‘s on, that will be more difficult.”

I think that’s very different from saying al-Qaeda is not in Iraq. I’m still interested in hearing whether John Edwards, Harry Reid or Jack Murtha actually said that.

  6. Silke says:

Teach, which Democratic politicians are saying al-Qaeda is not Iraq?

Al-Qaeda means ‘the base’ and OBL declared jihad ‘Against Crusaders, Jews and allies’ in February 1998! The word ‘evil’ IS evil and to parse words after the Islamomaniacs declared WAR on us / U.S. in 1998 is pathetic! A rattle-snake IS a poisonous snake and a rabid skunk is a rabid skunk.
Al-Qaeda’s ‘Holy Tuesday’ 9-11-01 jihad killed 2,996 innocent Americans, foreigners (120) and U.S. military personnel in three U.S. states in three hours, of which 1,100 victims have yet to be found or identified. What’s so F’N HARD about this whole war on terrorism to F’N understand? Wanna FLOW CHART the Islamomaniac slaughter processes??

  9. Silke says:

Teach, were you able to find any Democratic politicians who are saying al-Qaeda is not Iraq?

  10. Pelosi, Silke, for one.

For someone who tends to base their beliefs in documents that say “likely” and “very likely,” you are very demanding.

  11. Silke says:

Come on, Teach. Pelosi wasn’t saying there are no al-Qaeda in Iraq – that’s very clear when you read the full statement. Did you have any other examples?
