Maryland Decides Their Voters Do Not Matter

Declaration of Independence? Constitution? What are they?

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Maryland is poised to become the first state to approve giving its electoral votes for president to the winner of the national popular vote, rather than to the candidate chosen by state voters.

The plan, passed Monday by the state House, would take effect only if states representing a majority of the nation's 538 electoral votes adopted the same change.

The final vote in the Democrat-controlled House of Delegates was 85-54, with only one Republican endorsing it. The Senate has already passed the bill, and Gov. Martin O'Malley, a Democrat, plans to sign it, said spokesman Rick Abbruzzese.

Only in Liberal World. If the national vote has a Republican winning, and the Maryland voters gave a majority to a Democrat, the electoral votes would go to the Republican. Think that will happen?

This measure could easily reduce the Maryland people's votes to irrelevance. How, you say? Easy. There is no reason for a candidate to spend any time what-so-ever in Maryland if they are just going to give their electoral votes to the popular vote winner anyhow. Which completely defeats the purpose of the Bill

Delegate Jon Cardin argued that the measure would make Maryland more relevant in the presidential campaign.

"If you want Florida and Ohio to continue to have all the attention, all the money and all the interaction with presidential candidates, and have us be overlooked, then don't vote for this bill," said Cardin, a Democrat.

What incentive will there even if the majority of states do this? Candidates will still go where the most votes are for the shortest time spent, and will pour their money into those areas.

Maryland is your typical blue state. They got rid of two fine Americans in Governor Bob Erlich and Lt. Governor Steele, a great patriot and an African-American. His mother worked THREE jobs to put her son through college and he’s truly a great American. Mr. Steele told the NAACP that “I live in America and nobody tells me who to vote for” in reference to him being a Republican. And with the District of Columbia being 93% black, of which 20% can’t read nor write correctly, it’s no wonder their former mayor was a crack-head! And Philadelphia’s mayor is a former hot dog vendor…..go figure? Survey say’s: BLUE STATE!
