Beer Monday: Reid Files To Extend To Extend FISA

Happy Monday! The start of a new work week, time to get busy, shift a few paradigms, be your best and brightest. How ’bout a beer?

I’m not sure who is going to need a beer more, the Nutroots when they hear about this story, or Harry Reid when the Nutroots starts attacking him. Reid will probably need an aspiring from seeing all the ugly Pink that will be protesting him

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) filed another extension to the Protect America Act on Friday to avoid this week’s expiration of the law governing intelligence-gathering.

The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) sets guidelines for how the government can conduct surveillance for intelligence-gathering. At the request of the intelligence community, Congress passed updates to the law in August — those updates known as the Protect America Act (PAA).

Now, the rest of the article at CNS News paints Reid as “punting,” but what he is probably doing is working out a way to protect the Telecom companies, so, you have a combination of a law that the left hates, despite it being around for decades (FISA) – God forbid we should be able to spy on enemies of the USA – and giving telecoms retroactive immunity to prosecution and lawsuits. The anger of the Nutroots has forced any rationality from their brains. If Verizon and AT&T are sued constantly for large settlements, what happens to telecommunications in America? Service in all forms would go down, prices would increase. All to protect Islamic terrorists and the people they communicate with.

And yet they still get incensed when they are asked whose side they are on. Of course, like the question “do you want to win in Iraq,” the Nutroots doesn’t answer the question.
