(Washington Post) Locations around the globe will soon reach climatic tipping points, with some in tropical regions — home to most of the world’s biodiversity — feeling the first impacts of unprecedented eras of elevated temperatures as soon as seven years from now, according to a study released Wednesday.
On average, locations worldwide will leave behind the climates that have existed from the middle of the 19th century through the beginning of the 21st century by 2047 if no progress is made in curbing emissions of heat-trapping greenhouse gases, said researchers at the University of Hawaii at Manoa who sought to project the timing of that event for 54,000 locations.

Researchers said at a news briefing that their estimates are “conservative,†based on mountains of data from 39 models and accurate within five years in either direction for any of the locations they studied.
They say some will hit this point earlier, some later. All are decades in the future, when people will have forgotten about another scary prognostication. Remember this?
According to July 5, 1989, article in the Miami Herald, the then-director of the New York office of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), Noel Brown, warned of a “10-year window of opportunity to solve†global warming. According to the 1989 article, “A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000. We’ve heard about these “tipping points” ever since. Yet, they don’t ever actually happen, at least as prognosticated. Remember when they grew great wine grapes in England during the Medieval Climate Optimum? Well before fossil fueled vehicles and when CO2 was “safe” below 350ppm. They can’t do that now, not without gen modification. It was warmer then than now.

As I argued here the other week, there is more than enough solid evidence now to demonstrate to any neutral party prepared to cast half an eye over it that the doomsday prognostications the warmist establishment has been trying to frighten us with these last two decades are a nonsense. So, if climate changes on a scale of a millenia, then if the drastic never-before-seen changes in the tropics in 7 years… shouldn’t we start seeing those changes by now?

Question, if life before now was either so much HOTTER, and thousands times more CO2, or MUCH COLDER, then how did life survive? How did we get to those HOT periods? How did we get to those COLD periods? If man was not around emitting his CO2, and only his CO2, then how did climate change? And, if most of the last 500 million years had CO2 above, WAAAAAAYYYY above 400ppm, then how did anything survive? how did humans evolve to what we are now if CO2 was much higher during the most delicate mutation phases?
Or….. (looks around surreptitiously) … was it the HIGH CO2 that caused our mutations? And our current overlords are trying to prevent the CO2 from returning so as to prevent our next EVOLUTIONARY EVOLUTION!!!?!?!?!
By the way, I think from now on, anytime anyone cites or mentions or is even asked about the IPCC, we should just state, “they are a joke and I will not dignify them and their joke of a report with any comment”. You’re delusional if you think mankind has released only small amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere. Atmospheric CO2 is higher now than at any time in at least the last 500,000 years. I don’t know of anyone who thinks climate change is “causing every weather even, hot, cold, wet, dry, snow, ice, etc, plus volcanoes and earthquakes and everything else…”

Man-made climate change is real. A rational discussion over what we should do (if anything) about it is welcomed. But first you should face reality.

And, notice how you pick 500,000 years as your cutoff point. Yet, CO2 was much higher before then and we had no issues. For most of Earth’s existence, CO2 was much much much higher up to 7,000ppm. So, you can take your version of reality and go somewhere else with it. WE live in realz-ville here. And here, only a less-than 400ppm CO2 at 0.03% of the atmosphere is nothing, NOTHING at all to be worried over. It is incapable of doing much of anything to our global atmosphere.

If you think most folks are laughing at the idea of global warming, you need to get out more. You repeat the misconception that the concentration of CO2 is too low to cause the greenhouse effect. How does a lower concentration of CO2 cause the Earth to warm but a 40% higher concentration has no effect?

And so much more. they minimize, at best, the effects of the Sun, moon, water vapor, and other natural processes.
Perhaps you missed where the highly politicized UN IPCC just said that mankind is 95% responsible? Obama, Gore, Waxman, etc and so on all Blame mankind. Hansen, Mann, Prince Charles, Joe Rommel. You favorite cult leaders and IPCC have said as much. They’ve claimed that since the sun’s output is fairly static over the short term, then it can’t explain the warming over the long term, thus they say that the sun does not correlate to “global warming”. Yet, there is a strong correlation between the sun’s activity and Earth’s temperature. Also, that belief belies the sun’s addition to any natural variability. The sun.. is a major player in our greenhouse warming, with our own Earth the other component.
So, the fact that your cult does not believe the sun plays a role in our greenhouse, means your side does not practice science.
No they are not. Majority of folks who follow the science believe that the world has warmed. What we laugh at are those who believe man can change the global climate in any serious way. Or that we should eliminate our economy and our technological way of life for the chance that a reduction of CO2 production will in any way affect the natural CO2 production cycles or affect the world’s climate.
Wanting to reduce our world’s CO2 levels from 0.04% to 0.03% (and believing that will have a reversal affect on global catastrophe that WILL occur in a few years) when our worst storms occurred at the lower levels, reducing the CO2 plants feed on, and in the hopes of reducing our world’s natural warming cycles is not science.
Glad you asked. It was much worse than now. People dying from wild animals. A struggling colony of humans trying to find food and water to survive a few short decades. False question. A concentration of CO2 at 0.03% does not cause the world to warm up any more than a concentration of 0.04% does. CO2 has very little impact upon the world’s temperature since CO2 has very very very little concentration in our atmosphere. CHanging CO2 concentrations by 0.01% does nothing when compared to the real greenhouse gases. And the little impact that it does have has already occurred due to CO2’s logarithmic warming nature.
