Kerry Sign His 180’s Yet?

Image hosting by Photobucket Seems as if Monsieur Kerry has a difficult time finding things (other then rich women to marry). Besides his sanity, he has had trouble finding the Senate Floor, where he was supposed to bloviate about the DSM and Karl Rove, and he has had trouble finding a pen that works on the “undeleated line” of Form 180. When he signed them, he released a deleted version, and only to 3 newspapers. We want the whole thing, Frency. Funny how Kerry wants ALL of John Roberts records. Would that be irony, or just stupidity.

All you have to do is just sign and release your 180’s in full, John. Not too hard, is it? You made your promise on 1/30/05, 184 days ago. Then again, you make lots of promises you never keep.

Go here to an old post to read what it is all about. I’ll wait. See that, folks? It wasn’t just about signing, but about releasing all his records. He did sign them. But he hasn’t released all his records to the public. He released a deleted version. We want to see the whole thing.

Powerline has visual copies of the 180’s that Kerry reportedly signed. Deleted versions.

The folks at Conservative Friends (whose site was hacked, so the original post is gone) have recommended a Tuesday blogburst. I have sent mine in. Send yours in by going here for the Form 180. Then, email the link to Kerry at this address. He has tried to dodge by changing that email forms web address. Like we wouldn’t find it again. Cass at Villainous Company has an excellent insert for the email. Click on the link.

Furthermore, email Tim Russert, whose interview with Kerry prompted this whole issue. You can email him at MTP@NBC.com. Send it off to other stations, as well, if ye want.

Cao’s Blog is hosting the Blogburst. Here is the link to Cao’s 8/2/05 post. Head over, and let her know if you want to be included. Spread the word. Others blogging:

Sore Losers, part 8 Gajillion

The poor New York Times. Once again, their liberal and apologist agenda has been trumped. Today’s editorial by, well, no one, sounds like a whiny recalcitration of the Leftist doctrine of smear people, stand up for the enemy and other bad people, and, for good measure, forget to do research.

If there’s a positive side to President Bush’s appointment of John Bolton as ambassador to the United Nations yesterday, it’s that as long as Mr. Bolton is in New York, he will not be wreaking diplomatic havoc anywhere else. Talks with North Korea, for instance, have been looking more productive since Mr. Bolton left the State Department, and it’s hard not to think that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s generally positive performance in office is due, in part, to her canniness in dispatching Mr. Bolton out of Washington.

There’s the start of the smear, with a shot at SoS Rice, for good measure. Funny how they work in North Korea as going well. Today’s story on North Korea shows that no progress is being made at the table. Oops. And, BTW, well, let me just call the unkown writer, say, Brave Sir Robin, President Bush stated that Bolton is an "important part of (his) State Department team" yesterday.

But the appointment is, of course, terrible news for the United Nations, whose diplomats have heard weeks of Senate testimony about Mr. Bolton’s lack of respect for their institution and his deeply undiplomatic, bullying style of doing business. Senator George Voinovich, the Ohio Republican who became one of Mr. Bolton’s strongest critics, said yesterday that he planned to send the new ambassador a book on how to be an effective manager. It couldn’t hurt, but this may be the first time a world superpower has used its top United Nations post as a spot for the remedial training of a troublesome government employee.

The first part is correct, they should be worried. Cox and Forkum did it best (click photo for full size):

050413chinashopx

The second part is pure crying, something Voinovich is used to.

Mr. Bush had been unable to get Mr. Bolton’s nomination confirmed by the Senate, so he waited until Congress left town and used his constitutional power to make recess appointments. This is a perfectly legal tactic, though one that has seldom been used to fill this kind of position. A recess appointment is particularly dicey for a major diplomatic post, where a good nominee should carry an aura of personal gravitas and legitimacy.

Is the appointment of a Supreme Court Justice ok? I would guess so, since George Washington did that. So did Ike. Perhaps Brave SIr Robin should Google "recess appointment." He might learn something. The Senate treason lobby wouldn’t allow an up or down vote.

The United Nations could certainly be improved, but Mr. Bolton is a poor candidate for a reformer. To make the institution better, the Bush administration would first have to show that it has a vision of what the U.N. could be. That vision has to begin by accepting the fact that nations other than the United States have a right to have a say, and sometimes take the lead.

You mean that August body that has those champions of human rights, China, Cuba, and Sudan on their Human Rights Commission? Brave Sir Robin and the rest of the Treason Lobby would prefer that we run away without even employing the Holy Hand Grenade.

Seether TV on the Air

With all the issues going on with Air Deadbeat (Michelle Malkin has the roundup, and mentions my pet name for Air America), it doesn’t look like many people have notice that Current TV, the Al Gore seether network, has gone live today. That’s not quite fair to good old Al, I guess I should watch it before making the seether comparison. I’ll take the "over" on it being vastly left wing, though.

BTW, Current TV’s website is horrendous. Half of it doesn’t seem to work. And I cannot seem to find a list of who carries it. Sure not around here in Raleigh.

Anyhow, Will Air Deadbeat repay the $800K? Will they stop hemming and hawing long enough to let us know what they are really going to do? Or, was this the cash infusion that they were looking for, and now they want to keep it?

It’s gonna be a seething kind of day

Not for me, though. (via WRAL)

Fed up by a five-month fight with Senate Democrats, a senior White House official said President George W. Bush will install John Bolton Monday to be his new ambassador to the United Nations.

How soon will the Kosbat Kids, Du’ers, and those pesky Congressional Democritters take before the pure seething starts? That reminds me, I gotta check Google Earth, see if red clouds start to pop up around the "Blue" areas. I wonder if there is a real time temperature meter available?

Update: the Kosbats are (predictably) having litters of kittens (feral ones). One post is called "It’s Official, Bolton Is In…(planet doomed), and the other is about Bolton being irrelevant, which is just a typical Kosbat whiny ass sore loser post.

Bush claims that Bolton will be a force for reform at the UN. Problem is, Bolton has been foisted upon the UN without any consensus in the Senate. He has only a shred of legal authority to the post, and no moral authority. His tenure is necessarily limited to a year.

Actually, sparky, the authority is derived from Article II, Section 2, of that pesky (to libs) thing called the Constitution. I suggest you try reading it some time. If the Left would have stopped stalling and given Bolton the up or down vote he deserved, wouldn’t have been a problem.

And, BTW, Sparky, his tenure is till the next Congress takes seat in January, 2007. That is a little longer then a year. More often then not, people who are appointed during a recess stay in their jobs. See previous post here.

More: In a monumental ode to Cluelessness (had to be capitalized), Swimmer Ted stated:

"The abuse of power and the cloak of secrecy from the White House continues. … It’s a devious maneuver that evades the constitutional requirement of Senate consent and only further darkens the cloud over Mr. Bolton’s credibility at the U.N."

I guess Ted doesn’t read the papers, watch the news, or cruise the ‘net. Or have anyone on staff who could do it for him. Hell, we all knew this was coming over a week ago, and have been speculating for at least a month. Furthermore, I suspect Ted isn’t familiar with the Constitution. Or the fact that his brother, John, you know, that President guy, appointed Thurgood Marshall, you know, that Supreme Court fellow, to the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals in a recess appointment. JFK was worried about Southern Senators stopping the nomination, one of whom was, drum roll please, Robert Byrd.

I’ve been waiting to trot that one out :)

What’s with the Lefty protests?

Lefties love their petitions and protests, don’t they? They will whip one out for any slight issue. And they dearly love protesting war. But wait a second. Could that be true?

Vietnam: while there was an anti war movement prior to 1969, the real protest marches and loonacy did not start till 1969, when there was a, you guessed it, Republican President. One who wanted to get us out of the mess that 2 Democratic administrations got us in to.

During Reagan’s years, they had issues with Grenada, Beruit, and the Lybian operations, not to mention the way Reagan prosecuted the Cold War. They were simply apoplectic over Reagan calling the Soviet Union the "evil empire." Which made the Lefties happy, of course. If they aren’t seething, they aren’t happy. Lots of marches during those years.

They protested the Gulf War, both before and during. Republican President in office. Their favorite saying was "no blood for oil." I remember one guy who needed a shave and a clean shirt getting off a bus and being asked why no blood for oil. He said it was wrong. The reporter asked him about how much oil the bus used. No joke, not making this up, he said that the bus used gas, not oil. But boy howdy, did protesting make him happy.

And we have seen the protests during the Bush 43 admin. They went ballistic pre-Iraq war, and are still going strong. They were the trouble makers durin both the Democratic and Republican Conventions, in Boston and NYC, respectively. Those weren’t Republicans smearing feces on themselves so the police wouldn’t touch them. And the petitions. The internet has empowered them to knock one off for any little slight.

However, I cannot seem to find much on Democratic protests during Carter or Clinton’s years. Of course, Carter did nothing, especially when the Iranians took our people hostage. No Dems protesting what Iran did. Did the Lefties protest Bill’s adventures in Somalia, Bosnia, Haiti, and Kosovo? Nope. Military adventures that had no purpose. None of them slapped together a petition for Bill to come clean about Monica, Paul, Whitewater, lying to a Federal Grand Jury, subjorning testimoney, influence pedeling, etc.

And the protests over Vietnam pre-1969? Doesn’t matter what Oliver Stone wants you to think, the Lefty scene was rather quiet during the LBJ years, subsisting on some music and yapping press. If a Dem were to win in 2008, and invaded another country, such as Iran, do you think the Lefties would have issues?  I doubt it. The Left only protests when Republicans are in Office.

No thongs?

Say it ain’t so. This cannot be right (or good) for pirate thongs

Image hosting by Photobucket THONG sales have collapsed by nearly 20% in the past year, signalling a backlash against a symbol of “chav” culture.

Now, however, retail industry data indicate that sales nationally have fallen by 17% in one year. At some retailers the fall is even sharper: Harvey Nichols, the department store chain, sold 43% fewer thongs in April to June this year compared with 2004.

Fashion experts believe the thong is being rejected because women are looking for more comfortable and less revealing alternatives, such as cut-off “boy shorts”. It is part of a move away from overtly sexual clothing such as push-up bras, crop tops and low-cut jeans.

That is so wrong. Except for the “wonder bra,” which is false advertising and the makers should be sued (I wonder if John Edwards is available?), thongs are great, thongs are cool. Especially pirate thongs. On adults, mind you. “Chav,” BTW, means uneducated lowlife’s, prone to anti-social behavior. Who better to wear a pirate thong? Actually, how about the young lady above? And we must have our patriotic thongs:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

But, maybe instead of referring to thongs, the story was referring to John Kerry type thongs.

Recess Appointments: Only Bush, huh?

Before the Kosbat and DU kids getting going to far, getting their talking points together, regarding President Bush’s possible recess appointment on John Bolton, let’s review.

The US Constitution (that thing that the Lefties want to rewrite) states in Article II, Section 2:

The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.

Could pretty much stop there, don’t you think? But let me forge ahead a bit. If Bolton is appointed, it will be some big deal to the Moonbats. You know the normal cast, Pelosi, Boxer, Kerry, Kennedy, et al, plus Kosbat, MoveOn, etc, will have calfs (kittens are tiny). Has this ever been done before?

  • Over 300 judges have been appointed to the bench through recess appointment.
  • George Washington appointed John Rutledge to the Supreme Crt this way, as the Chief Justice!
  • President Eisenhower appointed Earl Warren, William Brennan, Jr, and Potter Stewart to the Supreme Court.
  • 20 percent of JFK’s appointments to the Bench were through recess appointments.
  • Carter appointed Walter Heen to the Bench on December 31st, 1980. This is less then a month before Carter would be out of office, having already lost the election to Ronald Reagan.
  • Clinton averaged 9 recess appointments per year. He appointed Roger Gregory to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals less then 3 weeks prior to leaving office in 2000.

The point of recess appointments was to fill vacancies that occur while Congress is in recess, so that the job continues to be done. However, Presidents generally use this power to appoint someone who may not be approved by the Senate, or where it would take the Senate a long time to get through the confirmation process. Such as Bolton. The Dems will continue to pontificate on Bolton, and we need someone at the UN.

Here is the big point. The majority of recess appointments were confirmed during the next Congressional Critter session. Fait Accompli. President Bush would not have to consider doing this if the Senate Dems would follow Mom’s advice: "Play nice." But they are more involved in smearing anyone President Bush nominates. Poor losers.
