Woops, for some reason, this did not post yesterday at 12:00 pm like I had set it for, so, a bit late.
On 1, Oct. 19, 1976 Congress passed an amendment to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which gave the Courts the power to award attorney’s fees in civil rights cases to the prevailing party. ‘The Civil Rights Attorney’s Fees Awards Act of 1976’ was passed with high hopes, and the good intentions that it would help provide relief for individuals that might not otherwise be able to afford the expenses of defending their civil liberties if they were violated. The ACLU, and other judicial activitist have completely turned the intentions of this amendment on its head.
Whenever the ACLU fights voluntary prayer in school, a war memorial because it’s in the shape of a cross, ten commandment displays, or keeping the boyscouts from military sponsorship, and they win, you pay for their attorney’s fees.
What was intended to protect people from having their civil rights violated has been twisted by the ACLU to use as leverage when they threaten small schools and communities that can’t afford to defend themselves from the well funded, and well staffed ACLU bully. Yes, legislation intended to protect civil liberties is often used to supress religious expression by the likes of the ACLU.
There is currently legislation in the House introduced by Representive Hostettler that hopes to remedy its abuse. It is an amendment that limits the attorney fees in Establishment Clause cases to injuctive relief only. In other words, if the ACLU wants to pick a fight over someone praying in public, or a ten commandments display that offends one sensitive athiest, they’ll have to dig into their own deep pockets, and it will not come from yours.

More fallout from the Air America Deadbeat/Gloria Wise "loans." The New York Post (free reg req’d) reports:
The embattled Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club in The Bronx — under investigation for taking $875,000 from programs for kids to help fund the start-up of Air America radio — was booted yesterday from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
The national board of the Boys & Girls Clubs voted to yank Gloria Wise’s charter, barring them from using the much-heralded organization’s symbols and fund-raising clout because of a breach of ethical standards and failing to file audits.
Evan McElroy, a spokesman for the national organization, said officers at Gloria Wise had ignored repeated requests to file annual financial reports. "We gave them plenty of chances," he said.
"Our clubs are run according to ethical business practices that were, in the view of our board, breached," McElroy said of the Gloria Wise club based in Co-op City. (ouch!)
Yet not a peep out of the New York Times. Hmmmm. Is this the way that Liberals, er, Progressives, act? Improper loans to cover a shady radio network that didn’t have as much start up capital as originally stated? Then ignore the issue, and hope it goes away? Now what happens to those under-priveledged children who now are bereft of a great program? Eventually, I am sure that someone will step in to the vacuum, but how soon?

PPS: Brian Mahoney at Radio Equalizer has an article up about the desparate pleas by Air Deadbeat for money. I recieved that same email, which is the only one that I have recieved from AD since signing up for their email list. So sad.

BEIJING – A rubber company in China has begun marketing condoms under the brand names Clinton and Lewinsky, apparently seeking to exploit the White House affair that led to the impeachment of America’s 42nd president.
“The Clinton condom will be the top of our line,” he (Spokesman Liu Wenhua of the Guangzhou Rubber Group) said. “The Lewinsky condom is not quite as good.”
I wonder if the Lewinsky condom will be blue? It’s sure going to end up with a similar stain.

Hey, y’all, Jebediah here. During a recent trip to the Sargasso Sea, where someone *cough Dave cough* forgot to fill the gas tanks, and we had to try and sail, the mates used the abundence of time to conduct a poll on the most important technology of the past 10 years. The data breaks down as such:
According to the follow up questions, we have learned that the Automated Checkout Scanner (ACS) was considered the most important due to them giving men the ability to get tampons and other feminine hygiene products without people noticing, and without the need for the cashier to put out a call for the price over the PA system.
The cell phone answer came from men who were p-whipped. And one transvestite prositute. Tag Body Spray and Vibrating razor answers were apparently given by men who think higher of themselves then they should, and buy into the TV bullshit. Don’t know apparently came from Democratic hippies. We think one was John Edwards.

It is truly pathetic to watch a former rented democratic presidential contender (not talking about Soros) flounder about and dodge his responsibilities. Of course, that is nothing new for Monsieur Kerry. He tried to dodge Vietnam by going to Paris to study. He dodged his responsibility to the woman he was married to when someone richer came around. He dodged he last 20 years in the Senate. And he dodged his promise to fully and completely release his Form 180's. When he signed them, he released a deleted version, and only to 3 newspapers. We want the whole thing, Frency. Funny how Kerry wants ALL of John Roberts records. Would that be irony, or just stupidity? Of course, what with his schedule of slurs at Bush, and forgetting to offer any sort of Bills (like that is new!) on the Senate floor, I guess he is too busy to keep his word.
Also, I guess Tim Russert enjoys looking the fool. It was on his show that Kerry promised to sign his 180's. Make sure you email him!
All you have to do is just sign and release your 180's in full, John. Not too hard, is it? You made your promise on 1/30/05, 233 days ago. Then again, you make lots of promises you never keep.
Go here to an old post to read what it is all about. I'll wait. See that, folks? It wasn't just about signing, but about releasing all his records. He did sign them. But he hasn't released all his records to the public. He released a deleted version. We want to see the whole thing.
