LOL: Newsom Signs Legislation Blocking ICE From Wearing Masks

Newsom signs legislation banning ICE agents from wearing masks in California

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) on Saturday signed a first of its kind bill banning Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from wearing masks while conducting operations in the state of California.

Newsom said ICE agents would no longer be “hidden from accountability” arguing masks prevent “transparency” for citizens and hinder “oversight.”

“That’s Trump’s America but that’s not the America we’ve grown up in. And so we are pushing back,” the governor said during remarks at a local high school.

Newsom said many residents are living in fear as the Trump administration cracks down on communities of illegal immigrants. Twenty-seven percent of Californians are foreign-born.

I’m all for federalism and State’s Rights, but, Los Federales have primacy when it comes to immigration, and federal law enforcement outranks state, county, and local when it comes to federal matters. Illegal immigration is a federal matter. I remember when Gavin banned all San Francisco (he was mayor at the time) city employee travel to Arizona in 2010 over the “show your papers” law. Not sure why so many employees were traveling to Arizona on the taxxpayer dime, but, Dems said SB1070 usurped federal power.

Newsom’s office also took aim at Noem in its announcing of the legislation, which drew a backlash from the administration.

“Kristi Noem is going to have a bad day today,” Newsom’s press office tweeted. “You’re welcome, America.”

“This reads like a threat. This is ugly, @GavinNewsom,” Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin tweeted in response.

See, Democrats in the PRC want to ban law enforcement from protecting their identities, thereby allowing the unhinged nuts in the Democrat party to retaliate against them and their families. Violently. But, the PRC general assembly won’t restrict criminals from wearing masks.

(AP) Bill Essayli, acting U.S. attorney for Southern California, said on the social platform X that the state does not have jurisdiction over the federal government and he has told agencies the mask ban has no effect on their operations. “Our agents will continue to protect their identities,” he said.

Good luck with any attempted arrests of ICE and others, guys. You’ll be going to federal prison.

The new law prohibits neck gaiters, ski masks and other facial coverings for local and federal officers, including immigration enforcement agents, while they conduct official business. It makes exceptions for undercover agents, medical masks such as N95 respirators or tactical gear, and it does not apply to state police.

It’s all performative theater.

Saturday Metal: Epica – Sirens Of Blood And Water

I usually hate those posts which say “I’m obsessed with…”, but, this is a metal song I’m obsessed with, especially this live version

For those not familiar with Epica, they are primarily a Symphonic Metal band. But, they weave in lots of different types of metal. Take this song: it has such a positive view, eh? The gorgeous ladies wearing dresses, their lovely voices, smiling. Performed in B minor, giving it a brighter feel. The chorus, the orchestra. But, wait, it’s actually based on the old, old little mermaid fairy tale, and, remember, the originals tended to be pretty dark. In this case, the sirens/mermaids are telling their sweet sister to take the dagger and kill the prince, and maybe some others, per the chorus

If she doesn’t take the dagger the sirens may kill her. The 2nd stanza right before the chorus

NY Times: Being An Un-Funny Comic Is Dangerous Today Or Something

Jimmy Kimmel said ““We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.” Where’s the joke? Where’s the punchline? Dude has a reported 200 people working on the show, did none write any comedy?

Being a High-Profile Comedian Right Now Is No Joke

You can’t joke about anything anymore.

It’s a refrain we’ve been hearing from certain comedy circles for the last decade. The danger of cancel culture is a running theme of “The Joe Rogan Experience.” Dave Chappelle has repeatedly spoke up for free speech in the face of fierce criticism over his jokes about trans issues or the politics of Israel. The world’s richest comedy nerd, Elon Musk, told us comedy had become illegal.

Now that the talk shows of Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel — two late-night hosts who made jokes about President Trump the centerpiece of their programs — have been canceled and suspended, respectively, what are the heavy hitters of the comedy community doing? Would you believe they are heading to Saudi Arabia?

Let’s note that it was the Left which was killing comedy, and this goes back to the early 2000s. Let’s also note that making non-funny jokes about Trump was just about all Colbert and Kimmel did. They got applause lines, not laughter. Steve Martin made fun of Nixon and Carter during his schtick on not being able to play a sad song on a banjo. Funny. Original SNL made fun of Nixon, Ford, Carter, and Reagan. Funny. Gerald Ford liked Chevy Chase’s bit so much he had Chase at his presidential library dedication. Funny.

Starting next week, many of the most popular American stand-up stars (Chappelle, Bill Burr, Kevin Hart) will perform at a huge new festival in Riyadh, hosted by a government not exactly known for its openness to dissent. The optics were never great, but the timing is now especially awkward.

Tim Dillon, a comic and podcaster with an aggressively nihilistic sensibility who boasted on Rogan’s show about getting paid $375,000 to perform at the festival, announced yesterday that he was fired from the event for comments on his podcast. In a grim echo, he also addressed the crackdown on comedy in this country, criticizing the suspension of Kimmel. “It’s wrong to pretend it’s because the show sucked or because it was losing eyeballs or money,” Dillon wrote, likely aiming his comments at right-leaning comedians who didn’t like Kimmel. “Clearly it was a politically motivated hit job.”

See, Trump is just like the repressive nation of Saudi Arabia. Perhaps it was due to his negative comments about SA? Was Kimmel being funny when he yammered on about wanting those who didn’t take the COVID jab to die?

It’s easy to roll your eyes at late-night comedians getting applause for mocking the president. Many people, myself included, found some of those jokes pandering. But that now seems a little glib. When Kimmel joked about the president, he knew that a target was on his back. President Trump, who has already effectively mounted pressure campaigns against universities, law firms and media networks, had made this clear, calling for Kimmel’s show to be canceled long before ABC’s decision Wednesday to pull him off the air.

In his first monologue after “The Late Show” was canceled by CBS, which cited a “purely financial” decision in an explanation that looks less and less credible, Colbert responded to the president’s social media reference to his fellow talk show host (“I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next,” Trump posted) by waving his finger at the screen: “No, no, absolutely not Kimmel,” he said. “I am the martyr. There’s only room for one on this cross.”

Funny stuff! Maybe they were tanked because they aren’t funny and turned their shows into political shows, where every guest is bashing Trump and half the country, where there is no light-hearted late night entertainment, and the shows lose lots of money? Where advertisers in smaller markets saw no monetary value to having the shows on? Someone show me the humor. Was it the insane pro-COVID dance skit that Colbert did?

It’s a long, long, whiny piece. Where were the complaints when actually funny people like Rosanne Barr, Dave Chappelle, and Tim Allen were getting cancelled. Where were all the jokes about Obama and Biden? They had a ready made joke in Kamala Harris with her cackle and word salad, but, nothing from Colbert and Kimmel. They got cancelled because not only are they not funny and unhinged, but, losing money. The View won’t be cancelled, because, despite being unhinged and polarizing, they make money. You want funny?

That’s funny.

As a final considering, not that the media is more concerned over a couple guys getting canned from their shows than a wacko liberal assassinating Charlie Kirk. There’s barely any focus on the actual assassination, and how things can be dialed back. It’s almost like they neither care nor want to tone it down. They want the Democrat base to be unhinged and violent.

Youts Sue Federal Government Over Hotcoldwetdry

The Youth Activists Suing Trump Are Fighting Climate Change and Authoritarianism

Does the United States Constitution guard against executive abuses of power that deprive children and youth of their fundamental rights to life and liberty?

That was the fundamental question Julia Olson, an attorney and the founder of Our Children’s Trust, posed to Judge Dana Christensen this week during a two-day hearing in a federal courthouse in Missoula, Montana.

The case, Lighthiser v. Trump, began in May when 22 young climate activists, aged 7 to 25, filed a lawsuit in the District of Montana asking the court to declare three Trump administration executive orders unconstitutional and prevent their implementation. The plaintiffs say the orders show the Trump administration’s intention to increase fossil fuel development, block renewable energy, and terminate congressionally mandated climate change science and research—all “under the false claim of an energy emergency, while the true emergency is that our fossil fuel-based energy system is polluting the air, water, lands, and climate on which Plaintiffs’ lives, liberties, and personal security depend.”

In some ways, Lighthiser v. Trump is the logical next step for OCT and the U.S. climate litigation movement, which aims to compel the government to take meaningful action to address the climate crisis—or prohibit it from making the crisis worse—through the judiciary. The lawsuit follows two of OCT’s recent wins, Held v. Montana and Navahine v. Hawaii Department of Transportation, and “further builds American constitutional jurisprudence on fossil fuel activities infringing the fundamental rights of youth,” according to the nonprofit law firm.

Sadly, the government lawyers never asked “have you youts given up your own use of fossil fuels and made your lives carbon neutral?” But, in fact, the Chief Executive does have the authority to put out those EOs, in the same way Biden apparently had authority to go the other way.

In other ways, Lighthiser is unlike anything that has come before. For one, this week’s hearing marked the first time a U.S. federal court heard live testimony in a constitutional climate change case. And, as Mat dos Santos, one of the OCT attorneys representing the plaintiffs, told me, “Lighthiser goes beyond the traditional climate cases that Our Children’s Trust is famous for, because it’s really a case about our democracy and whether this president has the power to act on his own initiative without any regard for how that power was supposed to be divided up amongst the other branches of government.”

Yeah, and it is all about force every American to comply with the insane, doomsday beliefs of the cult, while very few actually practice what they preach. They couldn’t really convince people to act in practice via 35 years of scaremongering. They couldn’t get as much legislation passed as they wanted. So, now they sue. If this makes it to the Supreme Court the cult will lose.

Who’s Up For $100K A Year H1-B Visas

Trump imposes $100K fee on H-1B visas in new immigration action

President Donald Trump signed an executive action on Friday to impose a $100,000 application fee for H-1B visas — in an effort to curb what his administration says is overuse of the program.

“We need great workers, and this pretty much ensures that that’s what’s going to happen,” Trump said from the Oval Office, where officials detailed how the measure would incentivize companies to employ American workers while still providing a pathway to hire highly skilled foreign workers in specialized fields.

The proclamation will restrict entry under the program unless accompanied by the payment.

Now, this is not something that the visa holders pay, companies pay. There is also some confusion as to whether this is per employee or for a multitude. What it is meant to do is have American companies hire Americans, rather than bring them in. The question now is “does the Executive Branch have this authority?” Quite frankly, I’d rather see a lower fee, like, say, $20K per visa holder, and restrict the visas to 3 years with no renewals. Because now they get renewed over and over again, and the holders bring their families, their parents, their cousins.

The moves mark the latest in a series of efforts from the administration to crack down on immigration and place sharp new limits on the types of foreigners allowed into the country. They threaten to significantly impact industries that depend heavily on H-1B workers.

Maybe they should be focusing on hiring Americans.

More than 400 arrests made so far in Chicago area enforcement operation, top ICE official says

Immigration enforcement officials have arrested more than 400 people as part of an operation in the Chicago area that launched a little less than two weeks ago, a top Immigration and Customs Enforcement official said Friday.

Marcos Charles, the acting head of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations, gave the figures during an interview with The Associated Press. The figure, which has not been widely reported, offers an early gauge of what is shaping up as a major enforcement effort that comes after similar operations were launched in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

For all the caterwauling, protesting, agitating, none of it mattered in Sanctuary City Chicago. ICE knows who they are and where they are.

Buffalo Is Not Sure It Can Be A Climate Doom Refuge Or Something

Buffalo Tests its Status as a Climate Refuge

At a Puerto Rican cultural center on Buffalo’s West Side, young dancers in bright skirts swayed to the sound of drums in an Afro-Carribean tradition carried across generations.

Eighteen-year-old Darnel Davila maintained a steady beat, striking his drum in time with each snap of the skirts.

Davila and his family came to Buffalo in 2017 after Hurricane Maria, one of the deadliest disasters in Puerto Rico’s history. It ripped through his hometown of Loiza, tearing the roofs off of buildings, and caused the longest blackout in U.S. history. (snip)

They chose to move to Buffalo, where an aunt had already settled. When he first arrived, Davila, then 10 years old, spoke no English, and the harsh, snowy winters were unlike anything he’d seen before.

Little did the family know, Buffalo’s leaders would soon start branding the city as a climate refuge after a Harvard study revealed that Buffalo and Duluth, Minnesota, were the most suitable cities in the U.S. for people looking to resettle away from the risks of the warming globe, such as sea level rise, hotter temperatures, fiercer storms and wildfires.

Um, it snows a lot in those two cities – though the wackadoodles did call the last few massive blizzards in Buffalo as proof of ‘climate change.’

Over the years, Buffalo’s leaders advertised the city as a place where people could be spared the worst outcomes of climate change, pointing to its fresh water supply from the Great Lakes and relative insulation from heat waves and wildfires.

The label gained widespread traction in 2019, when Buffalo mayor Byron Brown declared Buffalo to be a “climate refuge city for centuries to come,” in his State of the City address.

Six years later, the claim remains contested, with critics questioning whether Buffalo has the climate and infrastructure to still call itself a refuge.

They’re serious. No, really. They are seriously discussing this claptrap. Loony tunes. Buffalo could not survive without fossil fuels.

Hamas Loving Senate Democrats Introduce Resolution Recognizing Palestinian State

Democratic-led US Senate resolution seeks recognition of Palestinian state

A group of U.S. senators introduced on Thursday the first Senate resolution to urge recognition of a Palestinian state, further signaling a shift in Washington sentiment toward Israel nearly two years into its war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The Democratic-led measure is unlikely to pass the chamber where President Donald Trump’s Republicans have a 53-47 majority. Trump said on Thursday he disagreed with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer over whether to recognize a Palestinian state and no Republicans have joined efforts to do so.

Democrat Jeff Merkley of Oregon, who is leading the effort, said in a statement: “America has a responsibility to lead, and the time to act is now.”

The resolution urges U.S. recognition of a demilitarized Palestinian state alongside a secure Israel and would offer both sides hope while boosting prospects for peace, Merkley said.

In the House of Representatives, Ro Khanna of California is circulating a letter hoping to rally support for recognition of Palestinian statehood.

Demilitarized? Good luck with that. The only way that happens is if Israel is allowed to finish the job in Gaza. Still, after that the violent, Jew hating Palestinians will surely see a resurgence of Hamas. Or Hezbollah. Or some Islamic terrorist group. Democrats are essentially rewarding Hamas and the Palestinians they rule and who support them for a terrorist attack against civilians. For decades of terrorist attacks.

The Palestinian death toll from the war surpassed 65,000 on Wednesday, Gaza health authorities say. About 1,200 people were killed in the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack that triggered the war and 251 were taken hostage, according to Israeli tallies.

Israel says 48 hostages remain in Gaza and around 20 are still alive.

The Gaza “health authorities” are Hamas. This is who Democrats are listening to. Offering statehood as a reward for horrendous behavior is a bad idea. But, the Democrat base hates Israel and hates Jews, so, this resolution will make them happy.

Hageman, Tiffany Introduce Bill To Protect US From Climate (scam) Reparations

Congresswoman Hageman Introduces Legislation to Protect the American Taxpayer from Climate Change Reparations

Today, Congresswoman Harriet Hageman (WY-AL), alongside Congressman Tom Tiffany (WI-07), introduced legislation protecting the American taxpayer from attempts by international courts to impose climate change reparations on the U.S.

In July, the International Court of Justice (ICJ), one of the six principal organs of the United Nations (UN), issued an advisory opinion contending that international climate change treaties are binding on UN member states, and that breaching these agreements is an “international wrongful act.” According to the ICJ, countries that produce or consume fossil fuels could be subject to orders demanding they cease all “climate change” activities and pay full reparations to harmed nations.

Reps. Hageman and Tiffany’s bill would block the use of federal funds to pay a demand for reparations issued by any international bodies or courts for alleged violations of international law.

“The UN’s war on affordable and reliable energy is well known. This is just another effort to push forward with radical policies that have no basis in fact or science. Pursuant to the ICJ theory, every single country in the world would be subject to paying reparations, as every single country consumes fossil fuels. Yet, we know that such an outcome isn’t the UN’s intent. This is just another effort to force America to prop up the economies of failed states and impoverished nations. American citizens are not going to be forced to pay reparations based on vague, speculative claims about so-called climate damage,” said Rep. Hageman. “This bill protects both U.S. sovereignty and Congress’s constitutional authority. It guards against financial risks born of international lawsuits or opinions built on unproven assumptions.”

If other nations want to pay, have at it. It’s very sketchy as to if the US is even subject to the ruling by the ICJ, which is also non binding because it was just an advisory opinion. It makes the lawyers happy, though.

But, what if a Democrat wins in 2028? That wacko could start directing US money to the scam. This law could stop that.
