Say, What Will “Hellish Global Warming” Look Like?

It’s doom worthy, as they trot out yet another tipping point fable

This Is What Our Hellish World Will Look Like After We Hit the Global Warming Tipping Point

the de facto assumption of climate change policy is that the world must limit the increase in global temperatures to 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit (2 degrees Celsius) above pre-Industrial levels, or risk hitting a tipping point where the impact becomes irreversible. The figure dates back to 1975, when economist William Nordhaus suggested that more than 3.6 degrees of warming would “take the climate outside of the range of observations which have been made over the last several hundred thousand years.” By the 1990s, 3.6 degrees gained traction in the scientific community and then in politics, when the European Council argued in 1996 that 3.6 degrees should be the United Nations’ red line for global warming. It wasn’t until four years ago, at a climate conference in Cancun, Mexico, that countries finally committed to “hold the increase in global average temperatures below” 3.6 degrees.

Yada yada yada. Anyhow, what does it look like?

Sure looks pretty cold and snowy, eh?

Anyhow, in a sidebar to the story, another cat is let out of the bag

A paper in Nature in October argued that we should instead measure various “vital signs,” like looking at extreme events around the planet. Negotiators at the December climate talks in Lima, Peru, have recognized that the proposed cuts mean accepting warming anywhere between 4 and 10 degrees. While many point out that 3.6 degrees is unrealistically low, scientists are meeting to reconsider whether this target is already too high.

NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies climatologist Gavin Schmidt likened the 3.6 threshold to a speed limit: Going over the speed limit doesn’t ensure disaster, but it certainly raises the risk of it. “It means the faster you’re going around that curve, the more dangerous it is going to be,” he said. “What any one person might judge as a level that can be adapted to is going to be very dependent on where they’re coming from, what their culture is, how resilient they are, and how much money they have to adapt.”

Hence, all the reliance on “extreme weather” and blaming every weather event on “climate change”.

Tax Cheat Charlie Rangel Unintentionally Calls Leftist Protesters Insane

What Tax Cheat Charlie Rangel wants is for cops to focus on “gun control”, but inadvertently lets the cat out of the bag regarding, not just those protesting over Michael Brown (criminal) and Eric Garner (criminal, though I still maintain that charges should have been forwarded for a jury trial), but most leftists

Dem: Cops should focus on gun control

Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) on Monday said police union leaders should be more focused on keeping guns from the insane than pointing fingers at politicians over the murder of two New York City policemen.

Rangel offered criticism of New York City police union leaders who have directed their ire at New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.

“They should be conducting interviews mourning those that they lost and their family, talking about how do insane people get firearms and not criticizing but seeing how we can stop insane people from getting an opportunity to get firearms to kill anybody,” Rangel said on MSNBC’s “The Rundown.”

Who was the “insane” person who shot the NYPD officers? Ismaaiyl Brinsley espoused the same dangerous rhetoric that other Leftists did. He certainly had some clinical mental health issues, but was not insane. Just violent. Like many Leftists. Who were calling for the deaths of cops. Who have burned, looted, destroyed, and assaulted during protests. These are the people who vote for Charlie Rangel and Democrats.

Sure would be nice if the NYPD was still allowed to stop and frisk, though, when it comes to keeping people from having illegal guns, eh?

Anyhow, remember when Charlie Rangel declined to criticize following Sandy Hook? Oh, right, he blamed the NRA. His first thought on the Capital Hill chase and shooting was that Republicans were at fault. And was quick to blame Officer Darren Wilson for the violence in Ferguson. Let’s not forget that Charlie Rangel, way back in 1972, early in his political career, took the side of people who assaulted and shot NYPD officers.

It should also be pointed out that New York, and further NYC, have some of the toughest gun laws in the nation.

Anyhow, thanks for calling your base insane, Charlie.

Odious NYC Mayor Advises Protesters To Cool Their Jets Till After Funerals

Previous NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg was termed “loathsome”. A better word for current NYC mayor Bill De Blasio would be ignominious, but, that doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue

NY mayor: No protests until after officer funerals

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called Monday for a temporary halt to protests over police conduct as he faced a widening rift with a force preparing Christmastime burials for two of its own and decrying the demonstrations as a factor in the officers’ cold-blooded executions.

“I think it’s important that, regardless of people’s viewpoints, that everyone step back,” de Blasio said in a speech Monday at the Police Athletic League. “I think it’s a time for everyone to put aside political debates, put aside protests, put aside all of the things that we will talk about in all due time.”

Where was Odious Bill when protesters were calling for dead cops? Why did he not call for people to “step back” at that point? As far as political debates go, OB was right in the forefront of those slurring the NYPD. Will OB say that #CopLivesMatter? Will he acknowledge that the shooter was pushed by the outlandish and dangerous rhetoric of the protesters?

Climate Change And Christmas Are Totally Linked Or Something

The annual Christmas Warmist pastime of self flagellation flagellating Other People continues

Christmas and Carbon: What’s The Connection?

The Christmas-New Year holiday season is here and it may not be a good time for serious energy talk. However Christmas and carbon footprint does have a close connection. The period between Thanksgiving and New Year sees the largest number of shoppers – both online and offline in the United States. According to Terry Rayner, the General Manager of cardboard recycling company in Dallas, this is the busiest season of the year. His company, Pioneer Paper Stock Company has been processing 2000 tonnes of cardboard a week. A lot of this cardboard goes in the packaging and delivery of gifts and other online purchases made during this season.

Not all of the cardboard and paper necessary for shipping and delivery is recycled material. According to statistics released by the Food &Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, countries like Australia, Brazil and Indonesia have each lost more than 2.5 million hectares of forest cover between 2005 and 2010. A huge chunk of the deforestation is to cater to the demands of the paper manufacturing industry.

The evolution of the shopping trends from offline to online is a unique case study as far as climate change discussions go. While the retailers have been saving energy wasted on commuting, lighting and inventory holding costs, they are also consuming more paper and cardboard due to the hard packaging of every individual shipping. Not accounting for the energy costs in shipping products, one positive aspect of this evolution from a consumer aspect however is that the consumption of non-renewable gas resources have now been replaced with higher consumption of renewable resources like cardboard.

So, any Warmists out there engaging in gift giving, you are the problem in cause the temperature to spike some time in the future, and it’s your fault for all the extreme weather. It rained today, and it’s chilly here in Raleigh, so I blame you. Because that never happened before.

Paper consumption is one metric that the government must monitor intently – because, a growth here would mean a loss for earth climate as a whole.

Gee, more government power. Who would have guessed?

LA Times Wonders If Resident Non-citizens Should Be Able To Vote

What, exactly, is the end game for the Democrat push for “comprehensive immigration reform”? What about Obama’s executive action giving illegals legal status? Is it about compassion? About doing “the right thing”? Many, including myself, have noted that the ultimate end game is to grant these folks voting rights, creating yet another boxed Democrat voting group, pandered to and given stuff via other taxpayers. Democrats are already pitching giving those affected by Obama’s non-amnesty amnesty measures, and here comes the LA Times Editorial Board

Editorial: Should non-citizens in the U.S. vote?

As of Jan. 1, 2012, an estimated 13.3 million lawful permanent residents lived in the United States, and 8.8 million of them were eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship but had not done so. In California, 2.48 million out of 3.4 million green-card holders were eligible to apply but chose not to. And, of course, not all non-citizens residing in this country are “lawful.” An estimated 11 million people live here without permission, though President Obama recently took action to defer the deportation of as many as half of them.

America obviously would benefit if more non-citizens living here — including, eventually, undocumented immigrants — took on the responsibilities and privileges of citizenship. But what if they don’t? Non-citizens are still members of their communities. They pay taxes and in many cases send their children to public schools. Should they be given some greater say in the decisions of the local governments, school boards and judicial systems that make decisions for themselves and their children?

Many Americans consider it unthinkable that non-citizens — even lawful permanent residents — would be allowed to vote in elections. Gov. Jerry Brown agrees with them. Last year, in vetoing a bill that would have allowed non-citizen permanent residents to serve on juries, Brown said, “Jury service, like voting, is quintessentially a prerogative and responsibility of citizenship.”

They go on to note that prior to the 20th Century, non-citizens voted. Of course, that was a vastly different time of people coming to the United States to be a part of the Great Melting Pot, looking for a new life and new opportunities, most of whom came legally and wanted to be citizens.

We agree with Brown that voting is and should be inextricably tied to U.S. citizenship. But we also believe that more needs to be done to encourage people who have decided to live in this country to participate fully in its political life at every level of government. It is not healthy if large numbers of permanent residents, workers and taxpayers are excluded from voting. But the answer is not to sever voting — or jury service, for that matter — from citizenship. It is rather to expand the circle of citizenship.

See what they did there? Rather than allowing non-citizens to vote, they want to just make them all citizens, which would immediately confer voting rights on these folks. But, we can easily assume that they are really looking at the population of illegal aliens (say, what about all those that make up the California prison population, in some cases, being 2/3rds of certain prisons?) to turn into new voting citizens. People who came illegally, often do not bother to learn English in order to communicate with American citizens, help cause wage deflation and stagnation, commit serious crimes, and demand social system benefits, like schooling and welfare, clog up our health system, even causing emergency rooms to close. They want signs, forms, phone prompts, and other things in their language. They aren’t humbled, and do not seem to want to be a part of America. Many are demanding that parts of the Southwest US be returned to Mexico, a nation that didn’t want them in the first place.

This is the goal: create a new dependent citizenry beholden to Democrats.

Former Assistant FBI Director Places Partial Blame For NYPD Shooting On “Race Provocateurs”

Whenever a big shooting happens, Liberals love to assign blame, typically on race or Republicans/Republican policies. Or both. Not long afterwards, we find out that the incident had nothing to do with either, and often we find that the perpetrator is actually a Leftist or the incident had nothing to do with politics. Though, of course, Liberals have already established their narrative. In this case, we know that the NYPD shooter, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, was reportedly a member of the prison gang Black Guerrilla Family, which espouses Black nationalism and Marxism, and declared open season on the NYPD following the Grand Jury decision in the Eric Garner case. This is not to blame Liberal ideology, but, certainly, Liberals have not helped the situation over the past 6 months or so, moving from a position where they were concerned about the use of military vehicles, weapons, and body armor by police to simply slamming and slurring the police, end with the shooting

(Daily Caller) Ronald T. Hosko — a former assistant director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and current president of the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund — issued a statement Sunday condemning the brutal murder of two New York Police Department officers and placing the blame for their deaths on “race provocateurs.”

“While the criminal who shot these officers down is ultimately responsible for their murders, a thoughtful society must examine the social circumstances that fostered such outrageous criminal conduct,” Hosko stated. “To those who have chosen to incite violence against law enforcement through the reckless vilification of police officers — shame on you.”

Hosko then went on to single out racial activists, the media and even government officials for fostering a hostile anti-police sentiment that led to the deaths of two officers Saturday.

“From race provocateurs looking for five minutes of fame, to those in the media who wantonly mischaracterized and sensationalized recent criminal cases, to the government officials who have repeatedly made statements designed to undermine legitimate law enforcement efforts across our nation – it’s time to reexamine your own words and actions and take your share of responsibility,” the statement continued.

He refused to name names, but, they know who they are. Of course, being Leftists, they’ve probably convinced themselves that they are In The Right, and Not To Blame. Nor that the protesters are to blame. Rudy Giuliani names names

(Politico) Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is condemning President Barack Obama for anti-police “propaganda” in the wake of the murders of two New York City police officers in Brooklyn.

When asked on “Fox News Sunday” if he had ever seen the city he once governed so divided, Giuliani shook his head and said, “I don’t think so.”

Giuliani said blame rests on “four months of propaganda,” which he said started with Obama, “that everybody should hate the police.” He said the nationwide protests against several recent police-involved deaths lead to one conclusion: “The police are bad. The police are racist. They’re wrong.”

You can add bad actors like Attorney General Eric Holder, race hustler Al Sharpton, NY Mayor Bill De Blasio (when you’ve lost Mike Lupica…), Democrat members of Congress, and so many more who, instead of being thoughtful and rational and calm, have fomented division and hatred, creating an atmosphere that was ripe for the execution style killings of the two NYPD officers.

To Save Australia From Hotcoldwetdry, We Need To Kill All The Rabbits

Recently, we learned that beavers and ground squirrels are Bad for “climate change”. The obvious solution is to kill them in order to reduce nature caused changes to the climate. Now, myself and Jo Nova are being facetious. Not so for some Warmists when it comes to rabbits in Australia

The rabbits of Christmas past: a present that backfired for Australia

On Christmas Day 1859, the Victoria Acclimatisation Society released 24 rabbits for hunting, to help settlers feel more at home.

Given the millions of dollars in damage to agricultural productivity that ensued, as well as the impacts on biodiversity as the rabbits bred and spread to cover 70% of the continent, this could be seen as Australia’s worst Christmas present.

Now, given our current climate change commitments, controlling rabbits could be “Santa’s little helper” in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The rabbits eat vegetation, which means less plants, which causes climate change, blah blah blah, and planting trees and plants is expensive, so

Some significant gains might also be achieved by reducing the damage caused by some of our most serious pest animals.

That’s right, said Warmists want to kill off the rabbits. Not all of them, mind you

Rabbits inhabit most of the 143 million hectares of Australia’s Mulga woodlands. If their populations can be controlled, then there is considerable potential for natural carbon sequestration to help us meet our greenhouse gas reduction targets.

Just enough to deal with the fake issue of anthropogenic “climate change”.

Anyone else have a link or hotty-fest going on? Let me know so I can add you to the list. (BTW, since someone asked, the reason I leave links for the previous week up (or you might see a *) is because they are place holders for later in the day or for next weeks. Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.
