CNN Poll Finds 52% Want Iran Deal Defeated

Obviously, CNN tries to spin away the results that aren’t supporting The Precious

A majority of Americans want Congress to reject the recently-negotiated nuclear deal with Iran, even as President Barack Obama’s approval rating continues to stand in net-positive territory for the second month in a row, according to a new CNN/ORC poll.

The new CNN/ORC poll finds 49% approve of the way Obama is handling his job, 47% disapprove, about the same as in a June survey, which found the President’s approval rating at 50% for the first time since 2013. But on the President’s biggest accomplishment since then — the nuclear agreement reached between the U.S., its allies and Iran — most say they would like to see Congress reject it. Overall, 52% say Congress should reject the deal, 44% say it should be approved.

Some opposition to the deal may be fueled by skepticism. A CNN/ORC poll in late June, conducted as the deal was being worked out, found that nearly two-thirds of adults thought it was unlikely the negotiations would result in an agreement that would prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Some support of the deal may be fueled by Lefties wanting to support The Precious over the security of the United States.

The new poll finds a sharp partisan gap on whether Congress should approve the deal, with 66% of Republicans and 55% of independents saying Congress ought to reject it and 61% of Democrats saying it should be approved. Younger adults, who tend to lean more Democratic, are more apt to favor the deal: 53% of those age 18-34 say approve it, while 56% of those age 35 or older say reject it. There is also an education divide on the deal, with 53% of college graduates saying the deal should be approved, while just 37% of those with a high school degree or less formal education saying they think it should be approved.

So, the takeaway is that those who have more experience, more world knowledge, know better, and think the deal should be scuttled.

James Hansen: We’re Totally Living In The Doomy “Hyper-Anthropocene Age” Or Something

If anthropogenic climate change was so utterly real, so dangerous, and the science was so utterly sound, one would think that there would be no need for hyperbolic, over-the-top stories and pronouncements, eh? Here’s hyper-alarmist Joe Romm at Climate Progress

James Hansen Spells Out Climate Danger Of The ‘Hyper-Anthropocene’ Age

James Hansen and 16 leading climate experts have written a must-read discussion paper on what humanity risks if it can’t keep total global warming below 2°C (3.6°F). The greatest risk they identify is “that multi-meter sea level rise would become practically unavoidable.”

This is warning everyone should heed — not just because Hansen’s co-authors include some of the world’s top sea-level rise experts, such as Eric Rignot and Isabella Velicogna, but also given Hansen’s prescience on climate change dating back more than three decades.

In 1981, Hansen led a team of NASA scientists in a seminal article in Science, “Climate Impact of Increasing Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide.”

They warned: “Potential effects on climate in the 21st century include the creation of drought-prone regions in North America and central Asia as part of a shifting of climatic zones, erosion of the West Antarctic ice sheet with a consequent worldwide rise in sea level, and opening of the fabled Northwest Passage.”

Wow. A 35-year-old peer-reviewed climate warning that is 100 percent dead on. Is there anyone else on the planet who can has been right for so long about climate change?

Except, the “fabled Northwest Passage” is not open. Yes, it opened for a brief time, very brief, but, interestingly, it was also open during the “safe” time when CO2 was well below 350ppm, back between 1903-1906. Every prognostication of an ice free Arctic has failed.

Predicting drought? There are always parts of the world, including North America and Asia, that experience drought. Most non-alarmist scientists have noted that the West Antarctic melting is primarily occurring due to thermal heat underneath from volcanic activity.

Hansen has a long history of failed prognostications. His 1988 forecast was off by 150%. Manhattan is not under water. And so many more.

Hansen and co-authors deftly dismiss those ill-informed Pollyannas who use Orwellian terms like “good Anthropocene.” They explain that we are far past “the era in which humans have contributed to global climate change,” which probably began a thousand years ago, and are now in “a fundamentally different phase, a Hyper-Anthropocene … initiated by explosive 20th century growth of fossil fuel use.”

The “Hyper-Anthropocene” is a very good term to describe the unprecedented acceleration in global warming that humanity has set in motion with the explosive growth of fossil fuels and carbon pollution, as the recent science makes clear:

The Hyper-Anthropocene”!!!!!!!! Which has seen Mankind reach highs our ancestors never dreamed of. But, hey, you know, doom

The fact that 2°C total warming locks us in to sea level rise of 10 feet or more has been obvious for a while now. Heck, the National Science Foundation (NSF) issued a news release back in March 2012 on paleoclimate research with the large-type headline, “Global Sea Level Likely to Rise as Much as 70 Feet in Future Generations.” The lead author of that study explained, “The natural state of the Earth with present carbon dioxide levels is one with sea levels about 70 feet higher than now.”

Yeah, this is about the 10 feet of sea rise very very soon paper, not peer reviewed, and may never be, because his compatriots are not enthused by the paper. But, “climate science”needs lots of scary stories about future doom. It’s how they roll. Because the so-called science itself continues to fail spectacularly.

Meanwhile, James Hansen and the rest of the Cult of Climastrology refuse to give up their own use of fossil fuels. Weird, right?

Daily Beast Dredges Up Decades Old Divorce Rape Accusation Against Trump

Much like The Other McCain, I’m going to start out by saying I’m not a fan of The Donald, at least in terms of being the Republican presidential nominee. Heck, even running as a Republican. He may hold a few Republican positions, but he also holds, many, many Democrat positions, some that are way, way to the left. He’s the very definition of a RINO (Republican in name only). But, he’s leading in the polls (sigh), so Progressives have their knives out, as published at the Daily Beast by Tim Mak and Brandy Zadrozny

Ex-Wife: Donald Trump Made Me Feel ‘Violated’ During Sex
Ivana Trump once accused the real estate tycoon of ‘rape,’ although she later clarified: not in the ‘criminal sense.’

Donald Trump introduced his presidential campaign to the world with a slur against Mexican immigrants, accusing them of being “rapists” and bringing crime into the country.

“I mean somebody’s doing it!…Who’s doing the raping?” Donald Trump said, when asked to defend his characterization.

It was an unfortunate turn of phrase for Trump—in more ways than one. Not only does the current frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination have a history of controversial remarks about sexual assault, but as it turns out, his ex-wife Ivana Trump once used “rape” to describe an incident between them in 1989. She later said she felt “violated” by the experience.

I’m not going to defend Trump, but, I am going to wonder when the Daily Beast will run a story about Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton’s husband, William J. Clinton, and the women who have credibly accused him of rape and sexual assault. The media is all over Bill Cosby supposedly raping and sexually assaulting lots of women in previous decades, and have found him guilty. Yet, the same media covers for Bill Clinton, and the wife who apparently looked away.

(UK Daily Mail) A woman who has claimed she was sexually assaulted by Bill Clinton during his presidency in 1993 is going after his wife with a website chronicling ‘a scandal a day’ – and she’s looking for more sex-harassment victims.

Kathleen Willey testified in a lawsuit brought by Paula Jones against the former president that he groped her and kissed her in a small room near the Oval Office. The Clintons and their lawyers disputed that claim.

But now Willey says Hillary Clinton is ‘the most corrupt human being, the most corrupt politician that this nation has ever seen, man or woman.’

She’s working overtime to remind Americans – and to teach young voters who weren’t yet born in 1993 – of her husband’s reputation as a legendary lothario.

Willey told radio host Aaron Klein on Sunday that ‘in light of what’s happened with Bill Cosby,’ she plans to use her website to search for more women who might make sex-harassment claims against the former president.

‘If you or any one you know has been harassed, sexually harassed, assaulted or intimidated by Bill Clinton, please send your name and email address and you can be assured that your anonymity will be ensured … and we will make sure that you are safe,’ she said the language will read.

Rape and sexual assault activists have been saying that rape and sexual assault are never, ever, OK. And they’re right. They’ve deemed even little boys kissing little girls as sexual assault. Little boys have even been suspended from school. So, why do these same Lefties ignore Bill Clinton’s record, and how Hillary stood by her man, enabling his activities?

Unruly #BlackLivesMatter Crowd Gets A Taste Of Pepper Spray

This is like totally super horrible because a white cop (isn’t 5hat inappropriate profiling?) Pepper sprayed Blacks

(UK Guardian) A transit police officer has pepper-sprayed a crowd in Cleveland protesting the arrest of a 14-year-old at a Black Lives Matter conference inspired by police brutality.

The incident occurred near Cleveland State University in the city’s downtown where the first Black Lives Matter conference was taking place. More than 1,200 participants spent the weekend organizing and discussing a range of social justice issues.

According to the Greater Cleveland regional transit authority, its officers were taking an intoxicated teenage bus rider to a police station just as the conference was ending about 5pm. A large crowd blocked the squad car and tried to get the youngster out. One of the officers turned and began pepper-spraying the crowd.

The police were trying to help a drunk 14 year old, and the #BlackLivesMatter Crowd impeded official government business. What if the kid had a serious medical emergency? They got what they asked for.

Brain Eating Omeba Invading North Totes Due To Climate Change!

I blame people like Al Gore and Barack Obama for taking tons of fossil fueled travel

Fatal Brain Eating Amoeba Now Invading Northern US, Courtesy Climate Change

Global warming is pushing a dangerous brain eating amoeba north into the US, experts warn.

The recent death of a Minnesota teen has sparked debate whether warmer summers are facilitating survival of amoeba Naegleria fowleri in northern lakes and water holes. According to US News and World Report which quoted Dr Bruce Hirsch of North Shore University Hospital, NY, the ameba prefers warmer waters of the south but climate change is providing just that in northern regions which do not have a record of its presence until recent past.

Though dangerous, Naegleria fowleri infections are rare. There have only been 133 recorded cases of infections in the past five decades. Health officials recommend avoiding nasal rinsing and preventing water in untreated pools from entering the nose. Natural water bodies too are known to host the ameba.

Huh. Warmists are super worried about a few infections, yet, not concerned about the ever rising threat from radical Islam. But, hey, “climate change”!!!!!!!!

John Bolton: Obama’s Iran Deal Will Lead To War

Mr. Obama has been running around using his typical type strawman, namely that we have a choice between this really bad deal that gives the house away to Iran or war. Former Ambassador John Bolton writes in the LA Times that the deal actually makes war with Iran more likely

President Obama has made an art form of attacking his opponents rather than substantively defending his own policies, most recently regarding the Vienna agreement on Iran’s nuclear program. Essentially, Obama argues that we must either accept his wretched deal or go to war to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

As is typical, Obama posits the wrong choice, apparently to distract from the unpleasant reality that the agreement won’t work. It will not prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons. So the real choice we are faced with is dealing with the consequences of military action or the consequences of a nuclear Iran. Neither is palatable, but the latter is far worse. If the real objective is stopping Iran from getting nuclear weapons, preemptive military action is now inescapable.

Obviously, we all hope not. But, as Mr. Bolton notes, Iran has been cheating and blowing off sanctions for 30 years. What makes anyone think they will stop now? And, this “deal” only limits them for 8-10 years, at which point they can immediately resume all overt attempts to develop a nuclear weapon. What do we do when it is abundantly clear that they are developing a nuclear weapon, that they are close, and/or have already built them? Throw up our hands? Obama will be long out of office at that point. Will he blame himself? Will Democrats blame themselves, at least those who back this deal?

And, again, Liberals need to ask themselves: if this deal came from a Republican administration, would they be backing it, or would they look and say “holy cow, this a bad deal!”?

Some critics of Obama’s plan advocate scuttling the deal and increasing economic sanctions against Iran instead. They are dreaming. Iran and the United States’ negotiating partners have already signed the accords and are straining at their leashes to implement them. There will be no other “better deal.” Arguments about what Obama squandered or surrendered along the way are therefore fruitless. As for sanctions, they were already too weak to prevent Iran’s progress toward the bomb, and they will not be reset now. To paraphrase Bruce Springsteen, “These sanctions are going boys, and they ain’t coming back.”

That point stands on its own.

If diplomacy and sanctions have failed to stop Iran, diplomacy alone will fail worse. Like it or not, we now face this unpleasant reality: Iran probably will violate the deal; it may not be detected doing so and if detected, it will not be deterred by “snapback” sanctions. So we return to the hard question: Are we prepared to do what will be necessary to stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons?

Will we have the willpower? Will the “international community” of which Obama speaks so much about?

American weakness has brought us to this difficult moment. While we obsessed about its economic discomfort, Iran wore its duress with pride. It was never an even match. We now have to rely on a tiny ally to do the job for us. But unless we are ready to accept a nuclear Iran (and, in relatively short order, several other nuclear Middle Eastern states), get ready. The easy ways out disappeared long ago.

Obama had long talked about having discussions with Iran with no preconditions. Well, Iran had lots of conditions, and they won. Make sure to read the entire piece in full.

Woman Who Made Massive Fossil Fueled Travel An Accomplishment Really Worried About Climate Change

The question here is, is Hillary Clinton serious about “climate change”, or is she just pandering to the unhinged Lefty base? While she has included Hotcoldwetdry in negotiations and pronouncements previously, she has never seemed very passionate about the issue. During her time at State, it seemed more of a box check and an extension of Obama’s beliefs

(Bloomberg) Hillary Clinton on Sunday set two “bold national goals” to combat climate change, promising that if she’s elected president, she would set the United States on a path toward producing enough clean renewable to power every home in America within a decade.

She would also initiate a process that would bring the total number of solar panels installed nationwide to more than half a billion before the end of her first term, her campaign said in a fact sheet released Sunday as it also posted a video in which Clinton lays out her ambitions.

“We cannot wait any longer” to act on climate change, the Democratic front-runner says in the video. “It’s time we stand for a healthier climate, stand for cleaner air, for science, for innovation, for our children, for reality, for the future.”

Say, I wonder how many solar panels are on her homes? I’m betting she won’t answer. Right now, though, she has gone all in on this patronizing push

Nothing says “environmental concerns” like covering up the ground with solar panels and placing concrete pads (concrete is considered to be bad for climate change) for wind turbines despoiling nature.

Says the woman who flew almost a million miles during her tenure at State, and considered that to be a Major Accomplishment. And will take quite a bit of fossil fueled flights and auto travel as she runs for President.

Notice the cute little change of her “H” symbol

About a dozen orange-shirted members of NextGen Climate Iowa, the state branch of the super-PAC founded and funded by billionaire investor and climate activist Tom Steyer, watched Clinton speak on Sunday and then waited in line to pose for a group photo with Clinton. Steyer is using his wealth to support candidates and groups that back his approach to climate change, and has already given the primary maximum $2,700 to Clinton and hosted a fundraiser for her at his San Francisco home.

Ah. It’s about the outside money from uber-Warmist Tom Steyer. Her campaign will supposedly release more information on her invented positions in the months to come. I wonder if this will include giving lots of taxpayer money to companies, many of them backed by the Chinese government, that will fail?

Does she support solar and wind farms that kill lots of birds? Does she approve of putting a solar farm in the Mojave Desert, something Democrats have already blocked? How about hydro-electric dams? That’s a sticky-wicket, since the enviro-wacko base is dead set against that type of renewable energy.

NY Times: Transgender Bathroom Debate Totally Like Civil Rights Era!

Alternate headline: Paper Of Record Very Concerned Over Girls Pretending To Be Boys Forbidden From Using Boys Bathrooms. These are the types of things that keep Lefties up at night, rather than concerns over terrorism, Iran getting a nuclear weapon and a sweetheart deal, joblessness, and so on

For Transgender Americans, Legal Battles Over Restrooms

Gavin Grimm sat quietly in the audience last November as dozens of parents at a school board meeting in Gloucester County, Va., demanded that he be barred from using the boys’ restrooms at school. They discussed the transgender boy’s genitals, expressed concern that he might expose himself and cautioned that being in a men’s room would make the teenager vulnerable to rape. One person called him a “freak.”

When Gavin, 16, got his turn at the podium, he was remarkably composed. “I didn’t ask to be this way,” Gavin said. “All I want to do is be a normal child and use the restroom in peace.”

On Monday, Judge Robert Doumar of Federal District Court in Virginia is scheduled to consider whether the school board’s decision to prohibit Gavin from using the male restroom is unlawful discrimination. The case addresses one of the main unresolved battles in the fight for transgender equality.

Gavin is a girl. She may “identify” as a boy, but she has all the girlie bits. At least we should assume that, because nothing in the article states that she has had any sort of reassignment surgery. She may not have asked to be this way, but, she is this way, and needs to use the girl’s bathroom.

It is interesting to note that, suddenly, the opinions of dozens of parents is unimportant, when, normally, something must be totally stopped, usually having to do with religion, Christmas stuff, Halloween stuff, Easter stuff, and so on, because one parent Is Offended.

A favorable decision for the student would be the first time a federal court has ruled that refusing transgender students access to proper restrooms is discriminatory. Any other outcome would reinforce cruel policies that deny dignity to some of the most vulnerable students and subject them to more bullying and stigmatization.

Really? What about the dignity and privacy of girls being subjected to boys pretending to by girls using the girl’s bathroom and visa versa? Does the NY Times Editorial Board actually think that kids will suddenly stop being cruel because of bathrooms?

Here’s the kicker

Access to public restrooms has been a divisive issue in past civil rights struggles. During the 1950s, African-Americans challenged Jim Crow laws that barred them from so-called white restrooms.

There’s a vast difference between Black men and women being barred from using, respectively, certain men’s and women’s bathrooms, simply because they were Black, and people pretending to be the opposite sex and wanting to use those bathrooms. The former is certainly about respect and stopping discrimination, the other is about pandering to a tiny, tiny interest group, placing opposite sex members in the wrong bathrooms.

And right next to that bit is a button asking this tiny minority group to “share your story”. No, really.

The Department of Justice has submitted filings supporting both plaintiffs. The plaintiffs and federal officials argue that preventing transgender students from using restrooms that match their gender identity is a violation of Title IX, a federal law that bars discrimination based on gender in schools that receive federal funding. The Justice Department’s statement of interest in Gavin’s case notes that singling out transgender students makes it more likely that they will be bullied and harassed.

This is the same Obama DOJ which essentially ran guns into Mexico which resulted in the deaths and injuries of hundreds (that we know about) and no one was prosecuted. A DOJ which has virtually ignored the IRS targeting Conservative groups. A DOJ that sides with releasing criminal illegal aliens onto the streets of America. A DOJ that has ignored many, many subpoenas. A DOJ that refused to investigate voter intimidation by the New Black Panthers in Philly. A DOJ that stated it would not uphold duly passed laws, such as DOMA and marijuana. A DOJ that has essentially decided to enforce some things and ignore others.

But, hey, people pretending to be the other sex using bathrooms is apparently a good use of the DOJ’s time.
