Krugman: Terrorism A Deflection From The Real Issues, Especially ‘Climate Change’

This is why Islamic radicalism spreads so easily: liberal “intelligentsia” are constantly minimizing the danger, and, again, I’m not sure why, when everything the Islamists want is in direct opposition to what Liberals want. Anyway, here’s Excitable Paul Krugman, who lives a nice 1%er life in a McMansion well away from the areas that Islamists would attack

Fearing Fear Itself

….

So what was Friday’s attack about? Killing random people in restaurants and at concerts is a strategy that reflects its perpetrators’ fundamental weakness. It isn’t going to establish a caliphate in Paris. What it can do, however, is inspire fear — which is why we call it terrorism, and shouldn’t dignify it with the name of war.

The point is not to minimize the horror. It is, instead, to emphasize that the biggest danger terrorism poses to our society comes not from the direct harm inflicted, but from the wrong-headed responses it can inspire. And it’s crucial to realize that there are multiple ways the response can go wrong.

You can certainly see the Leftist idiocy in those two paragraphs, but, I have thrown them in as highlights leading up to this

Finally, terrorism is just one of many dangers in the world, and shouldn’t be allowed to divert our attention from other issues. Sorry, conservatives: when President Obama describes climate change as the greatest threat we face, he’s exactly right. Terrorism can’t and won’t destroy our civilization, but global warming could and might.

See? All these Islamic jihadis and their attempts to sow fear (and, really, they are just the violent arm of the Islamist movement. It’s really the non-violent ones, who use our laws and societal mores against us that are the bigger danger) are just tiny things when it comes to Hotcoldwetdry!

So much so that Warmists will run all over the nation and world putting out vast amounts of carbon pollution.

Black Lives Matter Activists Trot Out Messages Of Hate For Paris

For a group that complains about hate, they sure have quite a bit of it in their hearts (language warning)

(Breitbart) Resentful black activists and their comrades started a backlash against the huge public sympathy for the Parisian victims of the Islamist terror war. On Sunday, they used Twitter’s hashtag #FuckParis to reveal their emotional reaction to their loss of attention.

Breitbart News’ Milo Yiannopoulos reported, the social media backlash began almost immediately by Black Lives Matters activists upset about how the historic terror attack by ISIS that left over 120 dead had stolen the media spotlight overnight on Friday.

A small sampling of the tweets show no sympathy towards the killed and wounded in Paris. Instead, the left-wing activists described the slaughter in France as retribution for the Western colionialist, imperialist, racist, and white culture. The tweets cited included France’s long history with Haiti and Africa, as well as France’s popular ban on Muslim’s Afghan-style face-covering ‘niqab’ cloaks.

The #FuckParis hashtag also was retweeted by radicals in both America and Europe who supported the Islamist attack and open borders for refugees.

As we all learned in school, the best way to catch flies is with vinegar, amIright? Of course, reading the tweets at Breitbart and Twitter, it looks like quite a few of these folks never learned more than 1st grade English.

Here’s my favorite tweet

If only Black lives mattered to Black people. They comprise less than 14% of the population yet are responsible for 50% of the yearly murders. Of the over 300 murders in Baltimore this year, almost every single one was Black, and mostly Black males. Same in Chicago, Newark, Camden, St. Louis, etc. The majority of murders of Blacks are perpetrated by other Blacks.

Days After Terror Attack By Islamists In Paris, NY Times Uses Occasion To Demonize Right Wingers

I bet you thought this kind of thing only occurred in bat guano insane sites like Salon and Islamist defenders on social media. Negative, though at least the NY Times Editorial Board waited till Monday to post their screed, which is long on complaints against those who stand against the radical Muslims, and short on actually blaming the radical Muslims

What Will Come After Paris

The terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday, along with twin bombings in Beirut on the day before and the downing of a Russian jetliner over the Sinai Peninsula on Oct. 31, show a new phase in the Islamic State’s war against the West, a readiness to strike far beyond areas it controls in Iraq, Syria, and increasingly, Libya.

The challenge for threatened countries is huge. The sort of attacks the Islamic State, or ISIS, has launched are hard to anticipate or prevent, yet in Europe each one intensifies the raucous xenophobia of far-right nationalists ever ready to demonize Muslim citizens, immigrants and refugees, and shut down Europe’s open internal borders. The Islamic State must be crushed, but that requires patience, determination and the coordination of strategies and goals that has been sorely lacking among countries involved in the war on ISIS, especially the United States and Russia.

Got that? Europe has long been a hot-bed of importing radical Muslims, and allowing them to practice their extremist beliefs which include destroying Western society and killing Westerners. And now they are streaming in to European nations in huge numbers, the majority being young men, the exact type of recruit radical Islam likes. At least one of the Paris attackers had a Syrian passport. I think there’s a pretty darned good rationale for wanting to be damned cautious about the potential for Islamists.

President François Hollande of France defiantly declared the attacks in Paris “an act of war” and vowed a “pitiless” response. On Sunday, French warplanes bombarded Raqqa, the Syrian city that is an ISIS stronghold. Mr. Hollande is expected to offer other proposals when he addresses the French Parliament at a special session in Versailles on Monday. France already has some of Europe’s most intensive antiterrorist policing; adopting draconian measures of the sort demanded by far-right nationalists like Marine Le Pen of the National Front can only further alienate France’s Muslim population of five million, without offering any assurance against more attacks.

Only in Liberal World are they concerned with alienating people who have been showing that they do not want to integrate, but want Western nations to conform to their regressive beliefs. For the life of me, I don’t understand the Lefty position, since virtually everything the Islamists stand for is 100% against what Leftists stand for.

The NYTEB ends their missive thusly

The attacks in Paris sent a major shockwave around the world, and the Beirut bombings and the downing of the Russian civilian jetliner were every bit as horrific. ISIS has demonstrated that there is no limit to its reach, and no nation is really safe until they all come together to defeat this scourge.

Well, first off, one must recognize that to the Islamists (you can call them radical Muslims, extreme Muslims, etc) this is a religious war/movement. Here’s the mastermind

https://twitter.com/JoanOfArgghh/status/666216155581825024

He’s holding a Koran and the ISIS flag. The flag itself says “There is no god but Allah. Mohammad is the messenger of Allah” at the top, and the round circle states “Mohammed is the messenger of God”.

Second, one must acknowledge that no one really knows who these people are. Would the NY Times allow someone totally unknown to wander around the newsrooms, or, better yet, the executive suits?

NY Times: Paris Attacks Should Harden World’s Resolve Against ISIS

In the wake of the Paris attacks, the NY Times Editorial Board jumps in to the fray, as should be expected

Terror In Paris

On Saturday morning, after an evening of incomprehensible barbarism against a free and civilized society by armed terrorists, President François Hollande of France declared the attacks an act of war. More than 125 people were slaughtered in multiple venues in Paris — in a concert hall, at several restaurants, near a sports stadium, on the street. Mr. Hollande declared a nationwide state of emergency, imposed checks at all of France’s borders, and called in the army to protect the city.

The Islamic State terrorist group has claimed responsibility, and vowed that this was “only the beginning of the storm” to punish France for its airstrikes against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq.

The rest is mostly a review of what happened, and what a few leaders have said, leading up to the last line

This attack will harden the resolve of the French against the savagery of the Islamic State, as it must the world’s.

But, will it? So far, the brutality of ISIS has only briefly outraged Leftist news outlets like the NY Times and Left leaning politicians and political wonks. How many have been beheaded by ISIS? How many historic sites have been destroyed? How many women have they raped and killed (a mass grave of Yazidi women was just found in Iraq, in an area that was controlled previously by ISIS). How long did that outrage last, and transform into the resolve to destroy ISIS?

Why is it that, suddenly, we need resolve against ISIS when Paris was attacked? Why did the other atrocities not register?

How can there be resolve when outlets like the NY Times cannot even note what ISIS stands for and who they are? The closest they come is in using the name Islamic State, but, to them, it is seemingly just a name. Is it just ISIS the NY Times is considering, or will they acknowledge the overall threat to western society from hardcore Islamists, including those who are not the fighters, but use our own laws and societal mores against the West?

How do we fight them when Democrats want to let them in the United States? At the Democrat debate, all three presidential candidates (Clinton, Sanders, and O’Malley) said we should still let all the Syrian “refugees” (who are primarily young men, the prime recruits for not just ISIS, but radical Islam), into the country. They can’t even say “radical Islam”, much less point a finger at who Islam has long become radicalized, and has an agenda. Bernie Sanders claimed that ‘climate change’ was still the greatest national security threat, and, within a few days, politicians and other Warmists will put Paris behind them and bleat the same.

I’ve never understood why seemingly the majority of those who lean to the left politically refuse to acknowledge the danger from the Islamist movement. Certainly, there are some on the right who blame all of Islam. They are just as wrong as those on the Left who want to excuse all of Islam, calling any condemnation of the radicals “Islamophobia”. There is a big problem in Islam which has been around for a long, long time. No, it is not all. But there are more than enough who use parts of the Koran to foment violence, and are looking for a worldwide Caliphate, along with the aforementioned who use non-violent means to undermine Western society and move it to their brand of hardcore Islam.

Why can’t we call it Islamic, or Islamist, terrorism? They want a fight, and they will get it whether we respond or not. We need to acknowledge the problem to solve it. But, hey, by the time the climate change COP21 starts in a few weeks, this deadly attack will all have been forgotten. Till the next time.

Good News: Only 27% Of Democrats Want Climate Skeptics Prosecuted

An interesting poll from Rasmussen

Global warming advocates are calling for the prosecution of groups who disagree with them, and New York State has taken it a step further by investigating Exxon Mobil for refusing to play ball with the popular scientific theory.

But 68% of Likely U.S. Voters oppose the government investigating and prosecuting scientists and others including major corporations who question global warming. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 17% favor such prosecutions. Fifteen percent (15%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Just over one-in-four Democrats (27%), however, favor prosecuting those who don’t agree with global warming. Only 11% of Republicans and 12% of voters not affiliated with either major party agree.

They all their little Fascist on. Anyway, 24% say the debate is over, with 63% saying it’s not. 13% are unsure, so, we can say that they believe the debate is not over, as well.

Among voters who believe scientists have made up their minds about global warming, one-in-four (24%) favor prosecuting those who question that theory, but 64% are opposed.

Unhinged.

Among voters who Strongly Approve of the job President Obama is doing, 29% favor prosecuting those who disagree with global warming. Eighty-one percent (81%) of those who Strongly Disapprove of the president’s job performance oppose such prosecutions.

Interestingly, these same people care as little as Obama does in regards to reducing their own carbon footprints, and walking the talk. But, then, that’s because this is about politics, and shutting down anyone that disagrees with them.

Kerry: Paris Climate Agreement Will Totally Be Binding!

Do not expect the Islamist attacks in Paris to stop the upcoming Conference On The Parties working vacation, which looks to increase government control over people, private entities, and economies, along with increased taxation solve the future doom from climate change. But, no worries, because the agreement will totally be sent to the US Senate for ratification. Oh, wait, it won’t

(Daily Caller) Secretary of State John Kerry walked back remarks that a future United Nations global warming treaty would not be legally binding. Now Kerry says a climate treaty would, in fact, be legally binding and not require Senate approval.

“Our position has not changed: the U.S. is pressing for an agreement that contains provisions both legally binding and non-legally binding,” the State Department told Politico regarding Kerry’s Thursday remarks.

Kerry told The Financial Times Thursday that a U.N. treaty to reduce global carbon dioxide emissions is “definitively not going to be a treaty.” At the same time, European officials were arguing the treaty would be legally binding — contradicting Kerry.

“The FT interview with Secretary Kerry may have been read to suggest that the U.S. supports a completely non-binding approach,” the State Department spokesperson said. “That is not the case and that is not Secretary Kerry’s position.”

Obama and Kerry are desperate to come up with some way to make any COP21 agreement legally binding without going through the Legislative branch, as required by the Constitution. They’re avoiding the word “treaty” at all costs. Every other country, especially the 3rd world nations who want all that sweet, sweet “climate cash”, want the targets and such to be legally binding.

What Obama plans is to make a U.N. treaty only politically binding, meaning countries are essentially making voluntary pledges to cut emissions. Somehow, the president also wants these commitments to be enforceable on an international level as well.

The other countries are calling this a treaty, a legally enforceable document. Of course, for all the hype and economy killing measures, not to mention the reduction of liberty and increases in the cost of living, what will we get?

This article investigates the temperature reduction impact of major climate policy proposals implemented by 2030, using the standard MAGICC climate model. Even optimistically assuming that promised emission cuts are maintained throughout the century, the impacts are generally small. The impact of the US Clean Power Plan (USCPP) is a reduction in temperature rise by 0.013°C by 2100. The full US promise for the COP21 climate conference in Paris, its so-called Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) will reduce temperature rise by 0.031°C. The EU 20-20 policy has an impact of 0.026°C, the EU INDC 0.053°C, and China INDC 0.048°C. All climate policies by the US, China, the EU and the rest of the world, implemented from the early 2000s to 2030 and sustained through the century will likely reduce global temperature rise about 0.17°C in 2100(emphasis added). These impact estimates are robust to different calibrations of climate sensitivity, carbon cycling and different climate scenarios. Current climate policy promises will do little to stabilize the climate and their impact will be undetectable for many decades.

This is not about science, it’s not about “healing the planet”. It’s about political ideology and redistributing wealth, while restricting freedom and controlling people and economies.

Paris Attacks: Syrian Passport Found On Homicide Bomber, ISIS Responsible

By now you will surely have heard of the Islamic jihadi attacks in Paris Friday, something which several news outlets were praying would not be associated with the Islamist movement. Switching between MSNBC and CNN, they were desperate to avoid mentioning anything having to do with Islam. Guess what was found (well, you should know from the headline)

(Associated Press)Two French police officials say a Syrian passport was found on the body of one of the suicide bombers who targeted France’s national soccer stadium.

French President Francois Hollande said the Islamic State group orchestrated the attacks, and IS claimed responsibility.

The identities and nationalities of the attackers have not been released. At least 127 people were killed and about 200 wounded in the attacks.

The police officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to be publicly named.

Perhaps Mr. Obama, and all the other Democrats who are pushing to bring in tons of Syrian “refugees”, which seem to be mostly young men, and very few women and children and the aged, to rethink that idea. Sadly, they won’t.

BTW, perhaps someone at the Miami Herald, which is one of the outlets running the AP timeline, could explain why in the heck they’d put the article in the entertainment/celebrities section.

Unsurprisingly, the leftist media are already looking to include “Islamophobia”

A community leader from Paris’ working-class suburbs says he fears a “tsunami of hatred” may await Muslims and residents of poor neighborhoods following the deadly terror attacks.

Nadir Kahia of the Banlieue Plus community association says its members are shocked and feel a sense of solidarity “but we know … some Muslims and poor neighborhoods” will be subjected to hate speech.

Kahia also called Saturday for unity of French people and efforts to calm tensions in a text message to The Associated Press.

Many governments throughout Europe have offered condolences and statements of support, many saying that this evil must be defeated. Many of them, including Italy, Czech Republic, and Spain have seriously heightened their security. And well they should, as these Syrian “refugees” are scattered throughout those nations, as well as other European nations.

(Fox News) Eight ISIS terrorists wielding AK-47s and wearing suicide belts carried out coordinated attacks at six sites around Paris Friday night, killing at least 127 people and wounding at least 180 others, France’s president said Saturday.

Speaking after an emergency security meeting to plan his government’s response, Francois Hollande declared three days of national mourning and raised France’s security to its highest level. He described Friday’s attacks, which produced the worst bloodshed in Paris since World War II, as an “act of war.” Hollande said ISIS was “a terrorist army … a jihadist army, against France, against the values that we defend everywhere in the world, against what we are: A free country that means something to the whole planet.”

Hollande also vowed that France “will be merciless toward the barbarians of Islamic State group” and promised his government would “act by all means anywhere, inside or outside the country.” France is already bombing ISIS targets in Syria and Iraq as part of the U.S.-led coalition, and has troops fighting extremists in Africa.

ISIS claimed responsibility an hour after Holland’s statement, so, it’s probably safe to assume that Hollande had some sort of intelligence that showed ISIS was responsible.

Let’s rethink this whole “bringing tens of thousands of Syrian refugees into the United States” idea. And certainly not accelerate it.
