It’s Wild That Earth Day And Tax Day Are So Close Or Something

Warmiat Susan Darovic is totally stoked that Earth Day and Tax Day Are So darned close together

April 22, Earth Day, is a good time to consider our progress on slowing climate change. That it closely follows Tax Day (April 18) seems appropriate, for climate warming is an economic problem too.

Fossil fuels are very costly. For one thing, they continue to receive heavy government subsidies. For another, they are not required to pay for the results of their pollutants.

Obviously, she’s yet another brain dead Warmist who fails to understand the difference between subsidies and tax breaks/incentives. Or, she’s simply doing what so many Warmists/Progressives do: intentionally telling a whoppet. A lie.

Of course, she wanders down the path of doom for bit, before getting to her real point

We need an economic answer to this, an answer that is market-based. Put a price on fossil fuels that covers their pollution. Then watch American ingenuity pull us back from these expensive disasters.

A good plan is the carbon-fee-and-dividend plan proposed by former Secretary of State George Shultz. This plan would put a steadily rising fee on the production of fossil fuels, based on the carbon dioxide they emit, return all the proceeds equally to all the people, and safeguard our balance of trade with a tariff.

Funny how it almost always ends in one of two things, or both: taxes and governmental dominance. In this case, she’s pitching more taxation. Surprise! Why is the answer never “I’ll do my part and give up my own use of fossil fuels, doing all I can to make my life carbon neutral, and I ask my fellow believers to do the same”? No, it’s a tax, which will magically be returned to the people who have seen their cost of living skyrocket, and, double surprise, will now be even more reliant upon The Government to survive.

They’ll also be limited in mobility, as the cost of fuels will be to high to travel. Authoritarians love to keep people in place. If they control your movement, they control you.

Anyhow, happy Earth Day, where concern for real environmental issues has been supplanted with a desire for authoritarian centralized Government on Other People.

At least she didn’t trot out the notion that this is “free market” based, like others do. This would be a government imposition, a government economy.

NBA Commish: Gender Confused Using Other Biological Sex Bathroom Is “Appropriate For A Celebratory NBA Event”

The Bathroom Wars continue, and the NBA still refuses to take a stand against the Houston law against the gender confused using the bathroom of their gender identity. No mention of pulling the team from Houston. Still no mention of the NBA forcing ever other team’s venue to allow the gender confused to use the bathroom of their choice.

(Charlotte Observer) NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said Thursday that if North Carolina’s LGBT law remains unchanged, the 2017 All-Star Game would have to be moved from Charlotte.

Silver’s comments on the state’s controversial House Bill 2 came at the Associated Press Sports Editors’ commissioner meetings Thursday, according to attendees. Earlier in the day, Silver again called the law “problematic” for the league as it stands, but he said he’s confident state lawmakers will “do the right thing.”

“We’ve been, I think, crystal clear a change in the law is necessary for us to play in the kind of environment that we think is appropriate for a celebratory NBA event,” Silver said at the APSE event.

Huh. So what’s supposed to be a good family weekend event should include men entering the women’s bathroom with women and girls. That’s appropriate? In what world? Perhaps the NBA should worry more about the violence and criminal activity by their players. Perhaps they should worry more about the selfish and thugish attitudes from so many of their players, which kids emulate.

“I’m not sure what statement we would have been making by pulling the All-Star Game but saying we’re absolutely fine playing our playoff game in Charlotte,” Silver said.

“What’s most important to this league is that there be a change in the law. It’d be easy to make a statement, but I can’t cut and run here. I’m leaving my team there,” he added.

What about Houston? Realistically, what about most cities that have an NBA, which have laws against people using the bathroom of the opposite sex? What that statement shows is that this is simply a Being Brave stance for political purposes. The NBA should remember that not everyone agrees, and they could be driving away fans with this pro-gender confused stance. If they aren’t willing to say that all teams should allow this, then it is simply optics, and a fake stance.

Let’s be clear: the primary concern is not about TG folk being predators, though, certainly, some may take advantage: the concern is that people with bad intentions will take advantage of this bit of Social Justice Special Snowflakiness and harm women and children.

Trump Pledges To Changes His Hardcore Image If He’s The Candidate

Apparently, this has all been just an act

(AP) Donald Trump’s chief lieutenants told skeptical Republican leaders Thursday that the GOP front-runner has been “projecting an image” so far in the 2016 primary season and “the part that he’s been playing is now evolving” in a way that will improve his standing among general election voters.

The message, delivered behind closed doors in a private briefing, is part of the campaign’s intensifying effort to convince party leaders Trump will moderate his tone in the coming months to help deliver big electoral gains this fall, despite his contentious ways. (snip)

Trump’s newly hired senior aide, Paul Manafort, made the case to Republican National Committee members that Trump has two personalities: one in private and one onstage.

“When he’s out on the stage, when he’s talking about the kinds of things he’s talking about on the stump, he’s projecting an image that’s for that purpose,” Manafort said in a private briefing.

“You’ll start to see more depth of the person, the real person. You’ll see a real different guy,” he said.

Huh. As William Jacobson notes

I fully appreciate that support for Trump has become a cult of personality.

Nothing can sway those who refuse to see that Trump is conning them. He doesn’t respect you. He doesn’t like you. He is manipulating you to get what he wants.

It’s all a show.

And that show has been about demonizing other Republicans, those that are not supporting him. It’s been about insulting them, about going after the so-called Establishment, about trashing those who support other candidates or are just against Trump. And the show has apparently been a scripted act, duping his supporters.

Ben Shapiro

Trump isn’t trustworthy, and he never has been. Now he’s using that untrustworthiness as a selling point. That’s clever – it’s worked throughout the campaign actually, since he’s used his corrupt quasi-bribery of public officials as evidence that he knows how to work the system but can’t be bought himself. But it also demonstrates that all those who thought Trump authentic got played. Either that or those who think that Trump will fulfill promises to change now are getting played.

But, hey, when we need him to be strong this way and take on the Democratic Party and it’s candidate, who will most likely be Hillary Clinton, Donald plans to soften his image and stop the attacks? Really? One has to wonder if Trump’s anger and venom is only aimed at the GOP, the party he proports to represent. Will he go easy on Hillary? Will he ditch his new phrase “crooked Hillary”? Will the campaign be all lollipops and unicorns? Will he tank the general election for Hillary, something many conspiracy theorists have wondered about?

“Conservatives Aren’t Taking The Harriet Tubman News Well” Or Something

So, by now you’ve probably heard about Harriet Tubman replacing Andrew Jackson on the front of the $20 bill….did you know that if you miss the shift key you get 420?……quick, did you know that Jackson was on the $20 bill?…, and, according to George Soros funded Think Progress, we aren’t taking it well

Hours after the Treasury Department announced its plans to revamp a number of U.S. paper bills with depictions of African American and female civil rights icons, conservatives started criticizing the move as “politically correct” and “unnecessary.”

The Treasury’s new plan places abolitionist Harriet Tubman on the front of the $20 while relegating former President Andrew Jackson to the back. Meanwhile, the $10 bill will still feature Alexander Hamilton but include a mural of female suffragist leaders on the back of the bill. Images of Martin Luther King, Jr., Eleanor Roosevelt, and Marian Anderson will also be added to the back of the $5.

Speaking on the Today Show, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump argued against the move to replace Andrew Jackson on the front of the $20 with Harriet Tubman.

“Andrew Jackson had a great history, and I think it’s very rough when you take somebody off the bill. Andrew Jackson had a history of tremendous success for the country,” he said. “I think Harriet Tubman is fantastic. I would love to leave Andrew Jackson and see if we can maybe come up with another denomination, maybe we do the $2 bill or we do another bill.” He went on to call the change “pure political correctness.”

Now, is this a case of “not taking it well”, or simply providing counter arguments? In some cases, the first. I was listening to Trump talk about it, and I think he’s wrong about this being PC. It could also be argued that this is a case of Social Justice. But, much like with earmarks, PC and SJ is not always bad. It’s a matter of sometimes that the issues are “turned up to 11“, like from the movie Spinal Tap. Real issues that need to be addressed, but are taken to the utter far end of extreme. Kinda like buying a 700 horsepower car for a 5 mile daily commute on residential streets. Of course, I really do not expect Trump to have a deep understanding of the issue.

Likewise, Ben Carson was not having a meltdown, but making an argument against. The only other “conservative” mentioned is Greta Van Susteren, who truly did not take the news well. But, she’s not really a Conservative. Barely a Republican. Her politics are really “Scientology.”

Really, few are flipping out. Some make good cases, such as Dana, who comments here daily

(First Street Journal) But, to me, the irony is just astounding: in order to pander to political correctness, the Treasury Department is going to remove the one President, the only President, who ever paid off the national debt! John Gordon Steele noted in The Wall Street Journal, right after President Obama signed the ridiculous American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the stimulus bill we were told would keep unemployment from rising above 8%, pointed out that President Jackson paid off the debt by doing the one thing that is anathema to Republicans and Democrats alike: he cut federal spending, vetoing every spending bill that he could. President Jackson vetoed infrastructure bills; today Presidents won’t even try to cut back on appropriations for luxury items. You can find plenty of articles telling you why it was bad to pay off the debt, but, to me, paying off the debt would be a wonderful thing.

That’s not “not taking the news well”, that’s making a counter-argument. Apparently, in Liberal World, no one is allowed to make counter arguments, and by “apparently”, we know that’s exactly the way they think. From the Libertarian leaning Reason, we are provided with 4 reasons why having her on the $20 is a good idea, my favorite being

3. She believed in armed self-defense, a radical-enough concept for poor whites, let alone renegade blacks. During her Underground Railroad missions, she carried a pistol both for protection against slave-catchers and, reportedly, to keep ambivalent “passengers” in line. To this day, blacks have a strong and yet routinely overlooked belief in the Second Amendment, leading one historian to argue that “guns made the Civil Rights movement possible.” The desire of relatively powerless minorities to arm themselves can still be heard in pro-Second Amendment remarks made by rappers such as Ice-T.

Don’t tell Liberals about her carrying guns for person protection. Their heads might explode. Then there’s this

Heh!

Me? Couldn’t care less. I rarely carry cash, and when I do, I have no idea who’s on the bills.

Bummer: Americans Really Enjoying This Warmer, More Agreeable Weather

Personally, I love some good winter weather. I love watching the snow fall. Bundling up on a cold winter night with a fire going. On the flip side, I dread having to drive in slippery conditions with people from all over the country and world who think they know how to drive in this stuff, especially in a real wheel drive vehicle with a short wheel base. Standing outside bundled up freezing my buns off, getting windburn on my face. So, milder winters are nice. Not for the ‘climate change’ crowd, though, with the UK Guardian being very upset (via Watts Up With That)

US weather ‘preferable’ for most thanks to climate change; but there’s a catch

A large majority of Americans have enjoyed more pleasant weather due to global warming over the past 40 years, research has found, but there is set to be an unpleasant sting in the tail as temperatures escalate further this century.

Vast areas of the contiguous US have warmed considerably during winters without becoming unbearably hot during the summers, making the climate generally more agreeable to the public. A new study has found that 80% of the American population lives in areas where the weather has become more “preferable” since 1974.

According to the analysis by Duke University and New York University, 99% of Americans live in places where the average January temperature has increased, with just 60% in locations where the July temperature has risen. Rainfall and humidity changes have also, largely, changed by a favorable degree for many Americans.

This shift to more temperate conditions means that “virtually all Americans are now experiencing the much milder winters that they typically prefer, and these mild winters have not been offset by markedly more uncomfortable summers or other negative changes,” the paper found.

That sounds like a good thing. Human society did much better during the other Holocene warm periods than during the cool ones. Not that we can do much about it, since most of the warming is caused by nature. But, hey, doom!

But the situation is set for a radical reversal in the years ahead, the paper warns, with 88% of the US population set to experience temperature and weather trends that are extremely unfavorable by the end of the century.

If greenhouse gas emissions aren’t curbed, summer temperatures will start to rise rapidly, meaning far less comfortable living conditions for millions of Americans. The changes in the climate will also bring about cascading problems affecting ever-increasing numbers of people, including sea level inundation, drought, health problems, food insecurity and extreme weather events.

One has to wonder exactly why the summer temps haven’t been rising to match rising winter temps. Wouldn’t you think that if the temps were rising this would cut across all seasons? I’m sure the Warmists have excuses for that, as well, just like all cults generate excuses that prop up their beliefs.

Rising temperatures have so far been a “poor source of motivation” for the public to vocally demand policy responses to climate change due to this trend, the research, published in Nature, contends.

They seem rather upset that agreeable weather isn’t causing people to demand that government tax them and institute more and more controls on their lives, controls and taxes that Warmists refuse to institute in their own lives.

“Policymakers cannot rely upon Americans’ experiences with the weather to catalyze change,” Egan said. “They will have to look elsewhere to convince them that this a major problem.”

Perhaps “policymakers” should be listening to The People, rather than forcing their own narrow, cultish views on them.

And, yes, the doomsaying does continue on and on and one in the article. And continues on to the LA Times, a place known for mild, agreeable weather.

We’re Perilously Close To A Permanent Crossing Into The Global Warming Danger Zone Or Something

Another day, another hyper-alarmist, hyper-ventilating missive about Hotcoldwetdry from the Usual Suspects at the Washington Post, Chris Mooney and Brady Dennis, with a headline that rather undermines the entire case

How Earth itself has dramatically upped the stakes for the Paris climate accord

If it’s the Earth itself, doesn’t that make the case for mostly natural global warming? Anyhow, we’re all doomed, ya know

Representatives from more than 150 countries will gather at the United Nations on Friday to officially sign a global accord aimed at slashing greenhouse gas emissions and slowing climate change. But in the four months since that historic pact was negotiated in Paris, a drumbeat of grim scientific findings has underscored that staving off the worst consequences of global warming may take far more aggressive actions.

The first three months of 2016 were the warmest on record in 136 years — by large margins. The massive Greenland ice sheet has melted this spring to an extent that scientists say they’ve never seen this early. New research suggested that if high levels of emissions continue unabated, sea levels could rise by nearly twice as much as expected by the end of this century. A global coral bleaching event fueled by warm seas is turning some once-majestic reefs into ghostly underwater graveyards.

The list goes on and on.

“The strongest hurricane on record for both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere, unprecedented continuing drought in California, the warmest start to a year that we’ve ever seen, on the heels of what was the warmest full year on record for the globe,” ticked off Michael Mann, a climate researcher at Pennsylvania State University. Such developments, though driven in part by strong El Niño conditions, are a “reminder of how perilously close we are now to a permanent crossing into the global-warming danger zone,” he said. “We are at a critical juncture when it comes to preserving our climate.”

The warming is mostly driven by El Nino. But, that quote by Michael “Robust Debate/Hockey Schtick” Mann is priceless. As for preserving our climate

Regardless of one’s opinions on the degree to which climate change is occurring, regulations associated with the Paris accord will have no meaningful impact on the planet’s temperature.

Even if the government closed the doors to every businesses and CO2-emitting activity in the U.S., there would be less than two-tenths of a degree Celsius reduction in global temperatures.

Even Kerry admitted during the negotiations last December that:

“If all the industrial nations went down to zero emissions— remember what I just said, all the industrial emissions went down to zero emissions— it wouldn’t be enough, not when more than 65 percent of the world’s carbon pollution comes from the developing world.”

Of course, Mooney and Dennis argue, as do the rest of the Cult of Climastrology, that the super HISTORIC Paris accord is just a starting place, they want more done. But, not enough to advocate for all Believers to practice what they preach. They want everyone else involved by force of government. What they cannot do, though, is prove beyond a shadow of a doubt scientifically that the current warm period is mostly/solely caused by the activities of Mankind.

Target Makes Their Bathrooms Inclusive Or Something

Target is taking a Brave Stance

(Breitbart) The Target department store chain has jumped into the transgender bathroom debate by declaring that men who claim to be women may use whatever bathroom or changing room they choose.

“Inclusivity is a core belief at Target,” a new company statement reads. “It’s something we celebrate. We stand for equality and equity, and strive to make our guests and team members feel accepted, respected and welcomed in our stores and workplaces every day.”

The retailer added, “We welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity.”

“Everyone deserves to feel like they belong,” the statement concluded. “You’ll always be accepted, respected and welcomed at Target.”

Is this really about something they care about, or is it simply pandering to Leftists and the .03% who are gender confused?

“Why would you choose to allow men in the women’s restroom when every single store has a single family restroom that can easily accommodate your Transgender customers,”Sandy Bell Small wrote on Facebook. “Way to go Target for choosing to protect the .03% of the ADULT transgender population over your women, children, mothers, grandchildren, teenager population. I’m sure you will say you I longer miss us but I’m sure the $$$’s spent weekly will be felt somewhere.”

Target has been going downhill for years now, especially in the wake of their credit card data breach. They’ve been closing stores, and their Canadian adventure was a total failure. There are obviously other factors at play, but the health of the company isn’t particularly great right now, when in years past they were considered the trending place, over Walmart and Kmart. Remember when they were called “Tarjay“? When everyone said they had lost their way? Do they think this policy will help business? Pandering to a tiny minority over safety?

Here’s Caleb Howe

…But make no mistake, it is a delusion, and a perfectly silly one. It is the same liberal-minded pseudo-hippie social justice warrior philosophy casting aside barriers to entry for bathrooms that simultaneously demand written letters of consent be in the possession of any man seen standing close to a woman. The same movement that rails against “manspreading” is perfectly fine with manpeeing…. (snip)

Let me stop you. Let me stop you right there. If you are about to say to me “why can’t a trans person pee where they feel comfortable” then I ask you this: why can’t a little girl? What if a bearded guy in a trench coat claiming to identify as a woman while standing in the corner of the bathroom smiling makes a little girl uncomfortable? Why does trenchie win? Oh you think that’s absurd? It isn’t. SJWs tell us EVERY SINGLE DAY that college campuses and sporting events and even grade schools are packed to the gills with potential rapists awaiting only the means and opportunity. Well what makes Target so special? (snip)

Target can do whatever they want. They are a business. They can even do what they want with their bathrooms right here in North Carolina, despite demagoguery about our laws. But they aren’t immunized from criticism, though. And certainly you don’t have to shop there. And you shouldn’t. Maybe it will impact their business, maybe it won’t. But your children will be safer. And that’s really the only reason you need. Because Target has chosen to play social justice with the other immature, unreasonable, flower power idiots of our stupid, sick culture instead of looking out for your kids.

Will Target put up official signs in their stores highlighting the policy? Will they risk alienating consumers beyond a statement? Will this stated policy make a difference in their falling traffic and revenue for better or worse? They have the choice to do as they wish. Consumers can do as they wish.

They sure aren’t Brave enough to put this policy on their Twitter feed, Facebook, or main Target.com page. Just one tiny link from their news page. And the comments are not going well for Target.

Reason: How To Share A Bathroom With A Gender Confused Person

No one can say Reason is a liberal leaning online site, it tends to lean more libertarian and conservative, and Joshua Swain and Nick Gillespie offer an interesting, though ultra simplistic, take on sharing a bathroom with a trans person

In less than half a minute and by following four simple steps, Reason TV offers a quick and foolproof way to share a restroom with a trans person.

  • Step 1: Use the facilities.
  • Step 2: Flush the toilet.
  • Step 3: Wash your hands.
  • Step 4: Leave.

Remember: Just because all of us—male, female, straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, or trans—have an asshole doesn’t mean you have to be one.

So, that’s the Libertarian take. And, for the most part, most people will never even know if a gender confused person is in the same bathroom with you. Nor will most care.

Where it breaks down is having an adult gender confused in the bathroom with children. Also, the government forcing people and businesses to comply with their social justice idiocy. Rather than force compliance, the TG community needs to make a argument for their position that brings people to their side. What we’ve seen so far has been browbeating, getting government to pass compliance laws, shaming, hysteria, insults, etc, pretty much everything that will cause people to object. And the gender confused refuse to allow compromises. It’s their way or lawsuit time.
