“Trump’s election threatens human rights around the world” Or Something

Yes, the Washington Post Editorial Board is having a snit fit

EGYPTIAN STRONGMAN Abdel Fatah al-Sissi claimed he was the first foreign leader to call President-elect Donald Trump with congratulations. He had good reason: In meetings with the two presidential contenders in New York in September, Mr. Sissi was chided by Hillary Clinton about his abominable human rights record, while Mr. Trump issued him a free pass, calling him “a fantastic guy.” “Egypt hopes the presidency of Donald Trump will inject new life in Egyptian-American relations,” said a jaunty statement from Mr. Sissi’s office Wednesday.

If Mr. Trump follows the course he set in the presidential campaign, there will be many more such statements — and a rush to repression in countries around the world. At least since President Wilson carried his Fourteen Points to the 1919 Versailles conference, the United States has been the world’s foremost promoter of human rights and democracy. Mr. Trump appears ready to walk away from that role.

Got that? Human rights are doomed, and we know this even before Trump takes office. It’s going to be a fun 4-8 years of apoplexy from lefties.

Anyhow, the WPEB notes that Obama has been sorta lukewarm on this whole human rights thing. They fail to mention how he opened up with Cuba without pushing human rights. How he blew off Iran jailing dissidents and Americans in order to push the Iran deal. How he and Hillary backed the Muslim Brotherhood candidate in Egypt. Backed Assad in Syria. Blew off human rights in China in favor of climate change. The list goes on and on.

Trump Could Be Facing A Lawsuit As President On ‘Climate Change’

This thing has been winding its way through the courts for awhile now, but, hooray, it’s now on Trump, as we learn from one of CNN’s primary climahysterics, John D Sutter

Kids are taking the feds — and possibly Trump — to court over climate change

President-elect Donald Trump is likely to find himself the subject of a federal court case next year. The subject: climate change. And the plaintiffs: 21 children who want to ensure they have the right to a livable atmosphere.

Good grief. Livable atmosphere. These people are nuts.

The kids and their attorneys from Our Children’s Trust initially filed this case against the Obama administration. But Our Children’s Trust chief legal counsel, Julia Olson, told me on Thursday that Trump will automatically become a named defendant when he assumes the presidency on January 20.

What they really want to do is settle the suit prior to Trump being inaugurated, as they understand that Trump will most likely kill off most climate change initiatives.

The climate kids she represents will argue their constitutional rights to liberty and property are being violated by climate change, which threatens to submerge coastal cities, exacerbate drought and bring on mass extinction.

The interesting part here is that Trump might be better on developing energy alternatives than Obama. Trump will surely want projects that work, that crest low cost energy, that are cost effective, etc., as opposed to Obama, who wanted projects that hooked up his campaign donors.

Democrats Riot, Vandalize Post Election

I’m not sure Democrats understand the concept of the “high road”

(Fox News) Police in Portland, Ore. declared that a once peaceful protest was a riot after demonstrators were seen attacking drivers and committing acts of vandalism during their march against Donald Trump’s election Thursday night.

Portland police said at least 29 people were arrested in the riot and that more information would be given on the charges Friday morning.

According to KPTV, one driver had her windshield smashed and someone painted “Capitalism kills” on a nearby convenience store. Police declared the protest a riot at around 8:30 pm. A riot is a Class C felony in Oregon.

There were plenty of other cities, ones primarily run by Democrats, which have seen violence since Wednesday, and the “protests” do not seem to be letting up.

(WTVD) Reports of anti-Trump and even Nazi graffiti have emerged after tens of thousands of demonstrators in cities across the country took to the streets Wednesday night to protest President-elect Donald Trump‘s unexpected victory.

On Wednesday morning, just hours after Trump was declared the 45th president of the United States, the emblem of the Nazi Party was found spray-painted on the glass window of a building in South Philadelphia. The graffiti also included the words “Seig Heil 2016” as well as the word “Trump” with the T replaced by another swastika, according to the Philadelphia Police Department. (Snip)

In Virginia, hundreds of protesters shut down several streets in Richmond, where several Civil War and Confederate monuments were defaced with graffiti. The words “Your Vote Was a Hate Crime” were spray-painted on the Jefferson Davis monument and the Matthew Fontaine Maury statue, while the words “F— Trump, F— KKK” were found on the Robert E. Lee monument, according to local ABC affiliate WRIC. Donald Trump disavowed David Duke‘s support of his candidacy earlier this year, and last week, his campaign issued a statement that he “denounces hate in any form” while also disavowing support by a major Ku Klux Klan newspaper.

And there’s plenty more of this nationwide, as well.

Of course, the concept of the high road was being perpetuated when Democrats thought they were going to win easily. When that didn’t happen, Dems reverted back to their default state: violence, outrage, vandalism, etc. Telling employees who are Trump supporters to resign (and walking it back to avoid lawsuits). At least one of the “hate crimes” committed by a supposed Trump supporter against a Muslim has been proven to be a hoax.

With the weekend coming, we should expect this behavior to continue.

Goracle Offers To Work With Trump On Hotcoldwetdry

Say, whatever became of that whole “So Gore is going to stump for Hillary” thing? I guess, after all the negotiations, they weren’t paying him enough. No we get this

(Washington Post) Former vice president and longtime environmental activist Al Gore campaigned hard against Donald Trump, saying his election “would take us toward a climate catastrophe.”

But now that Trump will soon be occupying the Oval Office, Gore is extending an olive branch, saying in an online posting this week that he will do everything he can to work with the incoming administration to ensure that the United States remains a leader in combating the harmful effects of global warming.

“President-elect Trump said he wanted to be a president for all Americans,” Gore wrote on the website of the Climate Reality Project, the advocacy group he founded with a mission of helping accelerate the shift from dirty fossil fuels to renewable energy. “In that spirit, I hope that he will work with the overwhelming majority of us who believe that the climate crisis is the greatest threat we face as a nation.”

Good luck with that, Al! No one really cares, and Trump will (hopefully) put a stake in the heart of climate change policy as dictated by Government. Now, if So really cared, he’d drop the AGW schtick and work on real environmental issues. He won’t. More money in AGW.

Surprise: Republicans Now Own ‘Climate Change’

Conservatives elected Trump; now they own climate change

Anyone who voted for Trump shares the responsibility for the climate damages resulting from his presidency

I’m good with that. How about you?

The one thing that isn’t transient is the impact this will have on climate change. It is now virtually certain the world will not meet any of its climate targets. If Trump (and the Republican-controlled Congress) stand by their pledges, we will see a major rollback of the tremendous progress that has been made on reducing emissions. A Trump presidency will likely set us back at least a decade, perhaps longer. And that is a decade we can’t afford.

The world will blow past the 2C (3.6F) target set in Paris. This means it will be difficult to avoid the worst consequences of climate change.

If there were only some measures that Warmists could take in their own lives. Can anyone think what they might be?

The election also affects how we should talk about climate change. In the US, and in many other countries, opposing steps to cut carbon pollution has become a litmus test for conservative politicians. So, in this sense, conservatives now own climate change. I can just imagine the slogans, “Climate change, brought to you by your neighborhood conservatives.”

Well, now, that’s a cute rhetorical flourish in making other people responsible for something they don’t believe in.

Conservatives own climate change.

Conservatives own the consequences of climate change.

They own the increased droughts, more severe storms, sea level rise, and floods.

They own the heat waves, the loss of habitat and the shifting climate zones.

They own the climate refugees, the resulting political strive, and climate conflicts.

They own it all.

And when all the prognostications fail to materialize, will Warmists own their failure?

NY Times: Donald Trump’s Victory Was Built on Stupid White Voters Or Something

When Republicans lose an election, the become introspective  (mostly) to determine what they did wrong and how they can do better. When Democrats lose, most introspection goes out the window in favor of Blamestorming

A Victory Built on a Unique Coalition of White Voters

And it extended through the suburbs of Cleveland and Minneapolis, of Manchester, N.H., and the sprawl north of Tampa, Fla., where middle-class white voters chose Mr. Trump over Hillary Clinton.

One of the biggest upsets in American political history was built on a coalition of white voters unlike that of any other previous Republican candidate, according to election results and interviews with voters and demographic experts

Which is obviously a problem for the lily white writers at the NY Times. How dare white people vote in their best interests!!!!

Mr. Trump’s coalition comprised not just staunchly conservative Republicans in the South and West. They were joined by millions of voters in the onetime heartlands of 20th-century liberal populism — the Upper and Lower Midwest — where white Americans without a college degree voted decisively to reject the more diverse, educated and cosmopolitan Democratic Party of the 21st century, making Republicans the country’s dominant political party at every level of government.

In other words, they’re calling them all stupid. You can feel the sneering condescension, can you not?

But Mr. Trump also won over millions of voters who had once flocked to President Obama’s promise of hope and change, and who on Tuesday saw in Mr. Trump their best chance to dampen the most painful blows of globalization and trade, to fight special interests, and to be heard and protected. Twelve percent of Mr. Trump’s supporters approved of Mr. Obama, according to the exit polls.

Those people saw no hope and change. Obama’s America is one of stagnation, low wage jobs, division at all levels, a government that attacks it’s citizens while hooking up Iran, etc and so forth. Back in February, Peggy Noonan wrote about the Protected vs The Unprotected

But I keep thinking of how Donald Trump got to be the very likely Republican nominee. There are many answers and reasons, but my thoughts keep revolving around the idea of protection. It is a theme that has been something of a preoccupation in this space over the years, but I think I am seeing it now grow into an overall political dynamic throughout the West.

There are the protected and the unprotected. The protected make public policy. The unprotected live in it. The unprotected are starting to push back, powerfully.

The protected are the accomplished, the secure, the successful—those who have power or access to it. They are protected from much of the roughness of the world. More to the point, they are protected from the world they have created. Again, they make public policy and have for some time.

Go back and read it again. Seems rather right on the mark. People voting for what they perceive as the guy who will protect them. Why do you think the drain the swamp call resonated with so many?

Of course, the Dems will not accept why they failed. They will simply blamestorm.

Warmists Seem A Bit Unhinged Over The “Trump Effect” On Climate Change

I’m hoping to move away from lots of daily Trump posts, but, I doubt that will happen anytime soon, not when so many Leftists are providing such great material. Like

‘Trump effect’ will test global momentum on climate change

Donald Trump’s presidential victory throws into doubt America’s policy stance on the major global issue of climate change – and does so at a pivotal moment, just as nations from around the world are trying to solidify and build on a landmark accord to slash carbon emissions nation by nation.

Mr. Trump has called climate change a hoax and said he would “cancel” the Paris climate agreement reached by nearly 200 nations last year. That agreement, the details of which negotiators are now discussing at a UN conference in Marrakech, legally requires that countries monitor and report their progress on emissions of heat-trapping gases. But it doesn’t bind them to actually meet their pledged targets for reducing emissions.

Now, with the Paris agreement newly in force as of last week, it’s not clear if Trump will actually pull America out of the deal. But he can certainly withdraw US leadership on climate action – with repercussions for both US carbon emissions and international momentum on the issue.

“It is going to be difficult if the federal government pulls out of the game for the states, the cities and the businesses to do it on their own,” Alden Meyer, director of strategy and policy with the Union of Concerned Scientists, said at a press conference in Marrakech. “It is an ambitious target especially, when you’re trying to do it without the support of the Congress.”

First, I hope he keeps his word about removing the U.S. from Paris. Second, it was set up to explicitly avoid Congressional participation. You know, the duly elected Legislative branch.

Then we have, along the same lines

Trump win the ‘most miserable U.S. election result’ for fighting climate change, scientists say

Environmental activists were devastated by the election result, with May Boeve, leader of the 350.org environmental group, calling it a “disaster.”

“Trump will try and slam the brakes on climate action, which means we need to throw all of our weight on the accelerator,” Boeve said. “In the United States, the climate movement will put everything on the line to protect the progress we’ve made and continue to push for bold action.”

Let’s hope he does slam those brakes on.

Of course they do. They could see their power, prestige, and money dry up.
