Good News: L.A. County Paid Out $1.3 Billion In Welfare To Illegal Aliens

To the editor: Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and County Supervisor Hilda Solis in December announced the creation of a $10-million legal aid fund to “hire lawyers to defend local immigrants without legal status.” (“A $10-million fund will help immigrants fight deportations. But should it help those with violent criminal convictions?” April 17)

My street hasn’t been swept for years. When I tried to find out why, I was told that my area is not “on the list” because there are no longer enough machines and people to drive them. Services that I continue to pay for have been stopped.

If there is enough money around to help illegal immigrants, surely there is enough to begin sweeping my dirty street again. Shouldn’t citizens come before illegal residents?

Well, sorry, Arline George, that money is going somewhere else

(Fox News) Illegal immigrant families received nearly $1.3 billion in Los Angeles County welfare money during 2015 and 2016, nearly one-​quarter of the amount spent on the county’s entire needy population, according to data obtained by Fox News.

The data was obtained from the county Department of Public Social Services — which is responsible for doling out the benefits — and gives a snapshot of the financial costs associated with sanctuary and related policies.

The sanctuary county of Los Angeles is an illegal immigration epicenter, with the largest concentration of any county ​in the nation, according to a study from the Migration Policy Institute. ​The county also allows illegal immigrant parents with children born in the United States to seek welfare and food stamp benefits.

On the bright side, it’s expected that the Los Angeles County will spend $200 million less in 2017, as fewer illegal aliens arrive and more have left, mostly due to allowing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to do their job, to enforce the laws that are on the books, unfettered by politicians and political appointees.

We keep being told that illegal aliens are a boon for our economy. Well, the illegals are getting $3 in benefits for every $1 they spend. It sure seems that they are more of a drain on taxpayer money that giving more back.

Cult Of Climastrology Decides To Tackle The Evilness Of Cats And Dogs

This isn’t actually new, Warmists have long had a bug up their bums when it comes to pets, but, like any good Warmist meme, they circle back around to it now and then

(Daily Caller) Pet dogs and cats are only making global warming worse, according to a University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) study.

The study claims the meat-based diet of many dogs and cats requires more meat than the average human diet, meaning the existence of pets is making global warming worse.

“I do think we should consider all the impacts that pets have so we can have an honest conversation about them,” Gregory Okin, a UCLA geography professor involved in the research, said in a press statement. “Pets have many benefits, but also a huge environmental impact.”

How does one have an “honest conversation” with complete nutballs, who also have problems with children, referring to them as “little carbon footprints”, much less the fact that the same people massage, spin, fake, and manufacture data?

Okin claims that dogs and cats eat a lot of meat, which releases the equivalent of about 64 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually. He says that getting rid of dogs and cats would be the environmental equivalent of removing 13.6 million cars from the road. Dogs and cats are especially environmentally unfriendly compared to other vegetarian pets.

Yeah, he is actually recommending doing away with all cats and dogs as pets. Totally nutballs.

Climate Change Wackos Ask British Royals To Stop Having Kids

(The Blaze) An environmental group wrote an open letter to Britain’s royal family last week demanding that they stop having kids.

During a recent visit to Poland by Britain’s Prince William and his wife, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, the mother of two joked about having more children.

Presented with the gift of a baby’s toy during the visit, the duchess said to her husband, “We will just have to have more babies,” according to the Telegraph.

An environmental group responded to her comment and urged the couple not to have more children.

In an open letter to William and Kate, the San Francisco-based organization Having Kids — which promotes smaller families as the solution to climate change — wrote, “We read with interest your statements about having more children.”

“We wanted to offer a few thoughts for your consideration,” the group continued. “As you know and appreciate, the example the British Royal Family sets is extremely influential. Many studies also show that public figures serve as effective role models when it comes to family planning. Your discussion of having a larger family raises compelling issues of sustainability and equity.”

Interestingly, this same group hasn’t gone after people like Al Gore and other ‘climate change’ believers who have large families. Regardless, they’re all a bunch of wackjobs. Ones who get taken seriously by the Credentialed Media.

ACLU Sues Over Governors Blocking People On Social Media

It’s come to this. The Governors of Maryland and Kentucky blocked some people on social media, those people freaked out, and the ACLU has sued (via Hot Air)

(The Hill) The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has filed lawsuits against the governors of Maryland and Kentucky, claiming they violated constituents’ First Amendment rights by blocking individuals from official social media accounts.

The organization’s Kentucky branch filed a lawsuit Monday on behalf of several constituents, while its Maryland branch filed suit on Tuesday. Both suits ask for injunctions to stop Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin (R) and Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) from blocking constituents on social media accounts.

“The highest purpose of the First Amendment is to protect the right of Americans to engage in political speech and to petition the government to address their concerns,” Deborah Jeon, who serves as the ACLU of Maryland’s legal director, said in a statement.

“As the Supreme Court ruled in June, and a federal judge in Virginia echoed just last week, social media has become a vital means for constituents to communicate with their elected officials. It violates both the First Amendment and Maryland’s own social media guidelines for government officials to block out any voices of dissent or those simply raising questions about positions taken by public officials sworn to serve.”

A spokesperson for Hogan’s office dismissed the lawsuit as “frivolous” and “a waste of taxpayer dollars.”

It’s not quite as frivolous as it seems, but, not over free speech, but as “redress of grievance.” However

“The governor’s office has a very clear social media policy, and we will continue to remove all hateful and violent content and coordinated spam attacks to foster an open and constructive dialogue,” said deputy communications director Amelia Chassé in a statement.

Does the governor’s office have the right to remove those types of comments? Redress of grievance has the qualifier “peaceably” attached. What if the comments are anything but? You do not have to put up with that in your own feeds: does the government have to put up with it? Good question.

Latest Sob Story: Brothers Deported For Telling ICE One Was Going To College

Violating federal laws by coming to the United States illegally has consequences, much like trespassing does

He went to ICE to tell agents he had gotten into college. Now he and his brother have been deported.

Two brothers from Gaithersburg were deported to their native El Salvador on Wednesday in what their attorney says was the fastest deportation process he has ever seen.

Lizandro Claros Saravia, 19, is a standout soccer player who had secured a scholarship to play college soccer in North Carolina. His brother, Diego, 22, took extra classes to graduate from Quince Orchard High School on time and “has a heart of gold,” a former teacher said.

They entered the country illegally in 2009, however, and although they initially won reprieves from deportation, their efforts to renew those stays were repeatedly denied.

The brothers have no criminal records and would not have been a priority for deportation by the Obama administration, said Matthew Bourke, a spokesman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

What the Washington Post is saying here is that we’re supposed to ignore the fact that they are here unlawfully. I’m betting writer Rachel Chason wouldn’t be so cavalier about people sneaking into her domicile and deciding to just stay. She would surely call the police and want them removed and prosecuted, even if they had “no criminal records.”

On Friday, the brothers were detained by ICE agents in Baltimore after a regular check-in. Lizandro Claros Saravia told the agents that he was planning to attend college on a scholarship, said Nick Katz, senior manager of legal services at CASA de Maryland, who is representing the pair.

“The ICE agents told me they were deporting the kids because Lizandro got into college, and that showed they intended to stay in the U.S.,” Katz said.

Bourke said that is not how ICE conducts enforcement actions.

“They were issued a final order of removal by an immigration judge in 2012. That’s why they were removed,” Bourke said. The brothers were granted a stay of removal in 2013, but subsequent applications for stays were denied.

So, a lawfully empowered judge ordered them deported, they were granted one stay, and then further stays were denied, and Team Obama violated the ruling by not deported them. Shouldn’t the Obama administrations failure to uphold the law be the story?

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) said his office had been working to secure the release of the Claros Saravia brothers and that he was “very upset” to hear about their deportation.

“Shame on President Trump for tearing apart hardworking immigrant families,” he tweeted Wednesday evening. “We should be focused on MS-13, not scholarship winners.”

So, a duly elected federal Senator is taking the side of people who have violated our laws, and was taking a spot at college that could go to a U.S. citizen. Again, I bet he wouldn’t be so cavalier if it was his home that was being invaded. Perhaps he should reconsider his oath to support and defend the Constitution and our laws.

Illegal migrants get deported. That’s true around the world. What is so shocking in the US is that people are shocked that people who are in the US illegally are made to leave.

‘Climate Change’ To Massively Increase Deaths In The Future Or Something

Today’s doomathon story, because, having given up on actual science and watching their cult lose influence, attempting to scare people is all they have left

Climate change set to increase air pollution deaths massively by 2100

Climate change is set to increase the amount of ground-level ozone and fine particle pollution we breathe, which leads to lung disease, heart conditions, and stroke. Less rain and more heat means this pollution will stay in the air for longer, creating more health problems.

Our research, published in Nature Climate Change, found that if climate change continues unabated, it will cause about 60,000 extra deaths globally each year by 2030, and 260,000 deaths annually by 2100, as a result of the impact of these changes on pollution.

So, why will this occur? Well, they state that it will change the air currents and cause stagnant air (wait, I thought it was going to increase air flow? No? Warmists are actually all over the place, calling for faster and slower winds) which will leave actual air pollution near to the ground along with more ozone. How did they arrive at this conclusion?

This is the most comprehensive study to date on the effects of climate change on global air quality and health. Researchers from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Japan and New Zealand between them used nine different global chemistry-climate models.

Most models showed an increase in likely deaths – the clearest signal yet of the harm climate change will do to air quality and human health, adding to the millions of people who die from air pollution every year.

Sigh. More models. And it looks like they completely discounted the ones that disagreed with their preconceived notions.

Using multiple models makes the results more robust than using a single model. There is some spread of results amongst the nine models used here, with a few models estimating that climate change may decrease air pollution-related deaths. This highlights that results from any study using a single model should be interpreted with caution.

Unlike the caution shown in stating that ‘climate change’ will cause all these deaths.

Abortionistas Rage At DCCC For Suggesting There Should Be No Litmus Test For Candidates

Abortion is the be all end all of the Democratic Party. It is the #1 commandment, the first thing on their list of beliefs

(Washington Examiner) The Left is not taking well to Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Ben Ray Lujan’s comments this week that the House Democratic campaign arm will not withhold funds from Democratic candidates who do not pledge full allegiance to abortion on demand without apology.

And it isn’t just the groups explicitly about abortion that are upset. Democracy for America, a left-wing group spun off long ago from Howard Dean’s unsuccessful 2004 presidential campaign, reacted with an especially strident statement that really jumps out at you. It kind of blows the doors off the nation’s consensus position on abortion — that whether you’re for it or against it being legal, it is something we recognize as not good, and we generally take sides on it based on whether we want to abolish it or tolerate as a necessary evil.

The portion of the DFA statement that I have marked in bold here is actually highlighted in yellow in the original statement via email:

“It is profoundly disturbing to hear the person tasked with helping Democrats take back the House suggest that our party can credibly talk about confronting economic inequity, while turning a blind eye to candidates who want to limit women’s right to control their own bodies. Abortion rights are inextricably tied to the fight against economic and racial inequity, full stop, and until all leaders of our party fully understand that we’re going to keep losing.

Of Course Abortion Should Be a Litmus Test for Democrats

Democrats will fund anti-choice candidates in conservative districts, Representative Ben Ray Luján, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said in an interview this week, citing the party’s need to build “a broad coalition” to win control of Congress in 2018. “There is not a litmus test for Democratic candidates,” Luján told The Hill. “As we look at candidates across the country, you need to make sure you have candidates that fit the district, that can win in these districts across America.”

Senator Bernie Sanders, independent of Vermont, expressed a similar sentiment in April, after he was criticized for supporting the anti-abortion Democrat Heath Mello in a local Nebraska race: “We have got to appreciate where people come from and do our best to fight for the pro-choice agenda,” Sanders told NPR. “But I think you just can’t exclude people who disagree with us on one issue.”

I relate to the flailing panic that is no doubt undergirding such a morally putrescent idea. Nineteen hyenas and a broken vacuum cleaner control the White House, and ice is becoming extinct. I get it. I am desperate and afraid as well. I am prepared to make leviathan compromises to pull us back from that brink. But there is no recognizable version of the Democratic Party that does not fight unequivocally against half its constituents’ being stripped of ownership of their own bodies and lives. This issue represents everything Democrats purport to stand for.

To legislatively oppose abortion is to be, at best, indifferent to the disenfranchisement, suffering and possibly even the death of women. At worst it is to revel in those things, to believe them fundamental to the natural order. Where, exactly, on that spectrum is Luján comfortable placing his party?

How did it come to this, that abortion is the only thing that really matters to the Democratic Party? That no other issue is as important? That this is what they stand for above all else?

Nothing can dissuade them from this. They will accept no restrictions in the least. I’ve gotten into debates with them on this, and, since most are also gun grabbers, I’ve said things like “OK, you give me banning all late term abortion expect where the mother’s life is truly in danger, and I’ll give you closing the so-called gun show loophole” and “you give me parental notification, with the rare exception of going to a judge in certain situations, and I’ll give you “comprehensive background checks” (which is a stand-in for the government knowing about every gun you own and the ability to easily deny permits)”. And other tit for tats. Every time I’ve been told “no.”

These are people who had utter meltdown over states, such as North Carolina, requiring abortion facilities to have the same standards as other medical facilities. Seriously, they want abortion facilities to have lower medical standards than veterinarians. That talking point, which was prevalent during that debate, is actually wrong. Vets have lots of medical standards, because it’s the law and vets love animals. Abortionistas actually want lower medical standards than tattoo parlors. Even tattoo places get inspected by the state. Abortion lovers do not even want inspections.

How did it come to this?
