Study Highlights That People Blaming Syrian Civil War On ‘Climate Change’ Are Full Of Mule Fritters

Seriously, everyone except members of the Cult of Climastrology (especially those who have Big Government and taxes to push) knew this. Weather happens. Droughts happen. The climate is always changing. And war happens.

Climate-Related Drought Didn’t Cause Syrian War, Study Finds

Climate change in the form of sustained drought is not to blame for the bloody and prolonged conflict in Syria, according to a new study.

But drought nevertheless plays a contributing role in creating the conditions for conflict – and a database of 1,800 riots over a cycle of 21 years delivers the evidence to support that hypothesis, according to a second study.

The idea that climate change, with consequential drought and famine in its wake, can drive conflict and topple kingdoms, empires and civilisations is not a new one: climate change has been identified as a factor in the fall of the ancient Assyrian empire and the fall of the Mayan civilisation, and the recent drought in the eastern Mediterranean has been identified as the worst in 900 years.

Interestingly, the first two mentioned were from the on-set of Holocene cool periods. Regardless, this goes to show that there is no need to assign witchcraft carbon pollution as the means

Not so, say the scholars in Political Geography. They argue that though the drought was severe, it was not necessarily caused by man-made climate change driven by profligate combustion of fossil fuels, and that although drought contributed to migration to the cities, this would have involved not 1.5 million people but no more than 60,000 families. Economic liberalisation in any case may have been the more important factor, they say.

“Our paper finds that there is no sound evidence that global climate change was a factor in sparking the Syrian civil war. Indeed, it is extraordinary that this claim has become so widely accepted when the scientific evidence for it is so thin,” said Jan Selby, who directs the Centre for Conflict and Security Research at Sussex University in the UK.

In fact, Ms. Shelby goes on to say (from the “not to blame” link above)

“Global climate change is a very real challenge, and will undoubtedly have significant conflict and security consequences, but there is no good evidence that this is what was going on in this case. It is vital that experts, commentators and policymakers resist the temptation to make exaggerated claims about the conflict implications of climate change. Overblown claims not based on rigorous science only risk fueling climate scepticism.”

So, she is a Warmist, but understands that scaremongering and simply making crap up doesn’t help.

Regardless, this doesn’t matter, facts do not matter, science doesn’t matter, reality doesn’t matter, because Warmists have their talking points, and will never abandon. Right up to the point where they each realize “wait, the bad things about Big Government and taxes and loss of freedom wasn’t supposed to happen to me.”

Math, Algebra, and Geometry Are Totally White Privilege Or Something

Do you know why these types of stories bug me? Getting beyond the typical race baiting and White Blaming, general moonbattery and Special Snowflake Syndrome, what they position is that minorities, particularly Blacks, are incapable of performing long held standards of education. Math is math. It’s cut and dry. 2+2=4. But, these people, who are often racists against their own race, are perpetuating Victimhood

(Daily Caller) A University of Illinois math professor believes that algebra and geometry perpetuate “white privilege” because Greek terms give Caucasians unearned credit for the subject.

But that isn’t the professor’s only complaint. She also believes that evaluations for math proficiency perpetuates discrimination against minority students, if they do worse than their white counterparts.

Rochelle Gutierrez argues in a newly published math education book for teachers that they must be aware of the identity politics surrounding the subject of mathematics.

“On many levels, mathematics itself operates as Whiteness,” she argues with complete sincerity, according to Campus Reform. “Who gets credit for doing and developing mathematics, who is capable in mathematics, and who is seen as part of the mathematical community is generally viewed as White.”

Gutierrez argues that subjects like algebra and geometry, which relate to arithmetic, also perpetuate racism and white privilege. She worries that “curricula emphasizing terms like Pythagorean theorem and pi perpetuate a perception that mathematics was largely developed by Greeks and other Europeans.”

See, guys? It’s the terms used! But, wait, it gets better!

Gutierrez claims that the importance of math skills in the real world also places what she calls an “unearned privilege” for those who are good at it. Because most math teachers in the United States are white, white people stand to benefit from their grasp of the subject disproportionate to members of other races.

Have you ever noticed that just when you think that the wackadoodleness with these SJWs doesn’t end, it just keeps escalating, like a verbal fight over whose sports team is better? But, based less in reality, of course. She even asks “Are we really that smart just because we do mathematics?” This is how you end up with people who can’t do basic math when you hand them a one dollar bill and a quarter to pay for $1.13.

Woman Accidentally Turns Dad Into ICE, And It’s All Your Fault

And Trump’s fault. Because it’s mean to detain and potentially deport people who are unlawfully present in the United States. It’s mean that we have laws and stuff. Don’t be misled by the headline of this piece written by Viviana Andazola Marquez as to where the Blame lies

I Accidentally Turned My Dad Into Immigration Services

This month my father and I drove to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services office in Centennial, Colo., for a routine visit. I offered to drive because my dad was too nervous and excited to take the wheel. “How long have we waited for this day?” he asked me. He had been told to come in for a final interview before he could get approved for legal permanent residency.

But the meeting turned into a nightmare. Several hours after we arrived, I found myself alone, in disbelief. My dad had been detained and was facing deportation proceedings.

Viviana describes what went down at the immigration office, ending with the detainment. We learn that her dad is an illegal alien unlawfully present since 1988, who has raised 4 anchor babies, and that he’s been a “perfect citizen” or something, and that

Regardless of his status, he has earned the right to work hard without the constant anxiety of being apprehended. His children — of whom I am the oldest — deserve that peace of mind too.

Uh huh. Her dad also wanted to follow the rules. Except for the ones about not being unlawfully present in the United States. And under an order of exclusion, and older term for deportation order. Because he had already been deported once previously. And became a wanted felon by recrossing in the U.S. illegally. Unsurprisingly, you do not learn this in the op-ed, but from the link in the 2nd paragraph of the article (as shown above).

What happened to him is not an appropriate application of the law — it is cruelty. It’s not just my dad’s story. Under President Trump, every undocumented person living in the United States is a target, a deportation priority. This is a grave national security mistake. As this administration creates more distrust and fear in our communities, it is not encouraging people to be honest with law enforcement agents. Undocumented people want to cooperate with the law, but there is no path for them to do so without jeopardy of detainment or removal.

So many families like mine are threatened by a deeply flawed immigration system in the United States, which is basically enforced in an ad hoc manner. If upholding the law is important, pulling families apart is no way to do it.

See? It’s all your fault. And Trump’s. Because people who break our laws and enter our country, even after being told “no” and being previously deported, are super awesome or something. It’s totally cruel that the law should be applied to law breakers. Viviana is “majoring in ethnicity, race and migration”: anyone want to be that she’s an SJW would wants people arrested for mean speech? Or the other stuff that SJWs rail against? If “undocumented people want to cooperate with the law”, well, then they should self deport.

From the aforementioned link to the Denver Post

In a statement, ICE confirmed that Andazola Morales was arrested at the USCIS office Oct. 12. “Mr. Andazola was previously deported from the United States in March 1997,” ICE spokesman Gregory Palmore said via email. “His previous removal order has been reinstated, and he remains in ICE custody pending his removal from the United States.”

Pretty clear cut. Unlawfully present after being previously deported. They are not allowed to apply for legal status. Again, Viviana forgot to mention this in her op-ed.

Viviana said her father’s detention is creating a hardship for the family, but she worries about its larger implications.

“I think that it creates a distress, not just for my dad, but for the immigrant community who are trying to do right by the law,” she said. “For agents like ICE and USCIS to be bringing people in under the pretense that they are going to be able to do right by the law, and instead detaining them — it sends an awful message.”

See? It was America’s fault then, especially immigration officials, rather than her dad’s fault for intentionally violating U.S. law and sovereignty. Do we blame the convenience store when a person is arrested for shop-lifting? Personally, I’m tired of the boo-hoo sob stories that blame everyone but the person who committed the crime, and now has to pay the penalty.

Furor Erupts Over EPA Pulling ‘Climate Change’ Employees From Conference Or Something

This state of affairs has many in the media with Cult of Climastrology leans to become apoplectic. Slate, Washington Post, Engadget, and The Hill are just a few. And here’s the USA Today

Furor erupts over EPA decision to pull climate scientists from panel discussion

The Environmental Protection Agency is drawing heat for pulling its scientists from a panel discussion Monday in Rhode Island as part of a conference spotlighting the effects of climate change on the Narragansett Bay.

The withdrawal of the two scientists as well as an agency consultant has sparked fresh criticism about EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt’s skepticism toward the broad scientific community’s conclusion that human-caused global warming is a proven fact and a growing concern.

The conference where the scientists were scheduled to speak is coinciding with the release of a report showing the threats of climate change to Narragansett Bay, the 196- square-mile estuary whose watershed encompasses 1,705 square miles with more than 100 towns and cities that are home to nearly 2 million people.

Guess what? Hillary lost. Trump won. These employees do not set policy at the EPA. If they do not like it, they are welcome to resign and go work for an organization that wants to do this. There’s no reason the taxpayers should foot the bill for these employees to take fossil fueled trips (and possibly hotels and surely company paid for meals) to discuss the climate scam. Priorities can change at companies, and this applies to government agencies, as well.

Most Countries Who Love The Paris Climate Agreement Aren’t Actually Implementing It

It was extremely easy for nations to join the “landmark”, “historic” Paris Climate Agreement. Most of the requirements were actually set up to be voluntary. But, it was heralded as mega super awesome and was going to Save The Planet. Much like the Kyoto Protocol, though, it turns out that most signatories are actually doing anything

(Breitbart) Following President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord, a number of other nations have quietly begun ignoring the Paris energy goals, according to a new report out of Canada.

According to Lawrence Solomon of Energy Probe, a Toronto-based environmental organization, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is one of the only signers of the Paris agreement who is actually abiding by the exacting demands of the accord.

Meanwhile, Solomon notes in an essay in Friday’s Financial Post, “most signatories are ignoring, if not altogether abandoning Paris commitments, undoubtedly because voters in large part put no stock in scary global warming scenarios.”

“Trudeau now stands almost alone in sincere support of Paris,” Solomon writes. “The populist backlash — a revulsion at top-down governments laden with jet-setting politicians landing in posh places to preach restraint to the masses — has swept America with Trump’s election, Great Britain with Brexit, much of Europe, and Australia.”

“In the process, global warming enthusiasts are being swept out,” he writes.

Who’s surprised? Doing Something about Hotcoldwetdry sounds great on paper, but, as soon as citizens have to start actually ponying up their own money, as soon as it starts raising their cost of living, as soon as it starts restricting their own lifestyles and liberty, well, that’s where it all hits the fan. The Queensland 2012 elections were the bellwether, where the ruling Labor party, which pushed ‘climate change’ laws, lost so many seats that they were not even an officially recognized party in the legislature. Really, ‘climate change’ hasn’t done well at the ballot box.

And missing targets shouldn’t be any surprise. Almost no Kyoto Protocol signatories met theirs. And, Germany, which is one of the loudest voices on Hotcoldwetdry, is going to miss their 2020 Paris agreement targets. And, as the Breitbart article points out, Australia rejected the Clean Energy Target, which was their plan to comply with the non-binding Paris agreement. Furthermore, the Australian elections last week saw two parties with no interest in pursuing ‘climate change’ scam policies (which weren’t even discussed in the leadup to the election) swept into power.

Cult of Climastrology stuff sounds great on paper. Have fun, Canada.

Bummer: Michigan Apple Growers Are Super Concerned Over Crackdown On Illegals

This WZZM article, which looks to have originated in the Detroit Free Press by Susan Selazky, does everything possible to minimize the notion that the apples are being picked by many, many illegal aliens, attempting to make it seem as if they are lawful

Michigan apple growers could lose millions without migrant workers

….

This month, the Trump administration released its immigration plans, reiterating the plan to build a wall on the border with Mexico, and to slash federal funding to cities that declare themselves “sanctuaries” for immigrants. Trump has said that any solution to the issue of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), the children of undocumented immigrants, must be linked to funding for a border wall along Mexico.

These moves have caused uncertainty and fear among immigration populations.

Earlier this season Steffens said he scrambled to get workers for his 300 acres. “This year we had zero extra people,” he said. “We had a few new people from blueberries, but there are zero people just showing up.”

Perhaps they shouldn’t be relying on illegal aliens to do the work? More than enough temporary work permits are being handed out. If no one is showing up, it’s most likely because they do not have a work permit.

Michigan ranks fifth in the nation for registered migrant and seasonal farm workers, according to the Michigan Apple Committee (MAC). If the U.S. adopts “enforcement-only immigration reform,” it could result in a 61% decline in fruit production because of fewer workers, MAC reports citing data from the Partnership for a New American Economy.

That really sounds like they are relying on illegals, does it not? BTW, there are more than enough Americans on government assistance who do not work and are capable of working. They’d be perfect.

Now, the article started out with the usual Human Drama, featuring Juan Carlos and his partner Adela Hernandez, and how they do a super awesome job picking apples

For more than 18 years Carlos and Hernandez, who live most of the year in Florida, have helped insure successful crops at Steffens Orchard. But this year they are working under a cloud. While both say they have the proper documentation to work, they are still afraid.

Through a translator, Juan Carlos said, “with the new president it’s getting harder to travel.” Carlos said he is worried about “driver’s licenses (renewal) and being stopped by the police and being deported.”

Temporary work visas/migrant work visas do not last 18 years. How does one have “proper documentation” for this? And they’ve been here for 18 years, and still need a translator? What’s the over/under that both are, in fact, unlawfully present?

Steffens agrees that immigration reform is needed, but he is in favor of changes that don’t hurt U.S. businesses, the economy or people that want to work.

“There’s a population that is stuck. They’re not criminals, they are contributing to our economy, they want to follow the law but are unable to,” he said “They can’t see their families, they can’t travel, but yet are working. But they’re stuck in a system. It’s a shame.”

If they can’t travel to visit their families, that’s because it would be difficult for them to return to the U.S. since they were not authorized to be in the U.S. in the first place. If they want to follow the law, well, they had their chance. The article tries this with another person while tip-toeing around the fact that the person has to be unlawfully present.

To fill his need, Brett Anderson of AB Orchards in Sparta is using the H-2A visa program for the second year. This season he’s got about 20 workers.

“It’s more expensive,” said Anderson, “but the security and ability that we will get our crop harvested on time outweighs the cost.”

Anderson estimates it costs an additional 25%-30% to use H-2A workers. He goes through a contractor who does the necessary paperwork, sets up the number of workers, and arranges for their transportation to and from Mexico.

“It’s a legal, efficient and reliable way to get people,” he said.

So, there is an actual program to do this legally. Huh.

Crazy: UK Government Wants UN Treaty To Replace “Pregnant Women” With “Pregnant People” To Support The Gender Confused

Having solved all their problems, like Jihadis stabbing and running people over in the streets of London, and Muslim and Asian immigrants “grooming” kids to be sexual playthings, the UK government has turned its attention elsewhere

(Fox News) The UK government objected to the term “pregnant woman” in a United Nations treaty, claiming the term “excludes” transgender people who give birth and should be replaced with “pregnant people,” reports said Sunday.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) voiced their opposition to the term in a statement regarding the UN’s International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights that asserts a “pregnant woman” must be protected and not subjected to the death penalty, The Sunday Times reported.

In a proposed amendment, the government said the term “pregnant woman” should be substituted with “pregnant people” because otherwise it may “exclude transgender people who have given birth.”

“We requested that the UN human rights committee made it clear that the same right [to life for pregnant women] extends to pregnant transgender people,” the FCO said in a statement.

If they have a uterus, Fallopian tubes, and two XX chromosomes, they’re female. It matters zero if they  “identify” as male. They’re a woman. Period. Someone with XY chromosomes is not female, and cannot have a baby. Oh, and we’re supposed to listen to these nutters on science issues like with climate change.

But, hey, fortunately, the story gets even wackier!

The proposal sparked fury among prominent feminists, who called the suggestion insulting. “This isn’t inclusion. This is making women unmentionable,” feminist Sarah Ditum told the Times.

“Having a female body and knowing what that means for reproduction doesn’t make you ‘exclusionary’. Forcing us to decorously scrub out any reference to our sex on pain of being called bigots is an insult.”

Feminists are usually right out front in their support of the gender confused, right up to the point where women become marginalized in favor of people with mental illness. And, regardless of the wackiness that comes from the 3rd Wave Feminists, they’re rather correct in this case (though, a little over the top, but, then, perhaps that’s what it takes to get idiots in government to take notice): this does marginalize actual, real biological women in a push for political correctness.
