NIH Ends Future Funding to Study the Health Effects of Climate Change

The National Institutes of Health will no longer be funding work on the health effects of climate change, according to internal records reviewed by ProPublica.

The guidance, which was distributed to several staffers last week, comes on the back of multiple new directives to cut off NIH funding to grants that are focused on subjects that are viewed as conflicting with the Trump administration’s priorities, such as gender identity, LGBTQ+ issues, vaccine hesitancy, and diversity, equity and inclusion.

It shouldn’t be funding or studying any of that stuff. If private researchers want to do it, go for it. This shouldn’t be something the taxpayers are funding, and government employees should be looking at real issues, not political ones.

While it’s unclear whether the climate guidance will impact active grants and lead to funding terminations, the directive appears to halt opportunities for future funding of studies or academic programs focused on the health effects of climate change.

“This is an administration where industry voices rule and prevail,” said Dr. Lisa Patel, executive director of The Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health, a coalition of medical professionals that raises awareness about the health effects of climate change. “This is an agenda item for the fossil fuel industry, and this administration is doing what the fossil fuel industry wants.”

She called the new guidance “catastrophic” and said it would have a “devastating” impact on much-needed research.

I don’t see that many Warmists giving up their own use of petroleum, and, they can ask private companies for funding. They rely on Los Federales way too much, because it’s easy money for which there is little to no oversight.

Ukraine-Russia war latest: European troops deployed to Ukraine will ‘respond’ if attacked by Moscow, Macron warns

European troops deployed to Ukraine would respond to a Russian attack, French president Emmanuel Macron warned.

After a meeting in Paris, France, between Mr Macron and Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, he said European troops would fight Putin’s troops if attacked by them after any ceasefire agreement.

“If there was again a generalised aggression against Ukrainian soil, these armies would be under attack and then it’s our usual framework of engagement,” he said.

It comes after senior Zelensky aide ZIgor Zhovkva said British troops must be ready to fight Vladimir Putin’s forces to defend Ukraine.

Mr Zhovkva said European soldiers should be prepared to fight Russia and defend Ukraine if deployed to the country after any ceasefire agreement.

So, wait, they’re now talking about a ceasefire? Isn’t that what Trump wanted? Of course, just a few hours earlier Reuters reported

Europe’s talks on Ukraine security shift from sending troops

European efforts to create security arrangements for Ukraine are shifting from sending troops to other alternatives as they face political and logistical constraints, and the prospect of Russia and the United States opposing their plans, officials said.

France, which has been working closely with Britain to come up with options, will host 30 leaders and delegations from around 30 countries on Thursday, part of what has become a “coalition of the willing” to try and flesh out some ideas.

But while London and Paris have been working for weeks on a plan to send thousands of troops to Ukraine to help safeguard a future ceasefire, diplomats say there is growing acceptance that sending such a force is not the likeliest outcome.

“They are taking a step back from ground troops and trying to re-dimension what they were doing to something that could be more sensible,” said one European diplomat.

Here’s a reality: Russia has nuclear weapons. France and the UK do have some, 290 and 225 respectively, mostly as deterrents to Russia. Five other NATO nations host US nuclear weapons. These same people tell us Putin is nuts. Is that who you want to push? For Ukraine? Do you want to risk a large scale war involving NATO nations and Russia, and the potential for nuclear escalation? Oh, and let’s not forget how many European NATO nations get fossil fuels from Russia. Germany, France, Italy, and several others gets energy from Russia, mostly natural gas. How’s that going to go?

Of course, putting any “peacekeeping” troops in Ukraine is way ahead of the curve, since the EU hasn’t been quite on the same page as Trump in trying to get a ceasefire to start with.

Angus King of Maine and Gabbard, in which King grilled her about the 2025 Annual Threat Assessment by the US intelligence community, which made no mention of climate change for the first time in 11 years.

“I’ve been on this committee now for—this is my 13th year,” said King. “Every single one of these reports that we have had has mentioned global climate change as a significant national security threat except this one. Has something happened? Has global climate change been solved? Why is that not in this report, and who made the decision that it should not be in the report, when it’s been in every one of the 11 prior reports?”

In her response, Gabbard implied that climate change was no longer considered a direct threat to US national security. “I can’t speak to the decisions made previously, but this annual threat assessment has been focused very directly on the threats that we deem most critical to the United States and our national security,” she said. “Obviously, we’re aware of occurrences within the environment and how they may impact operations, but we’re focused on the direct threats to Americans’ safety, well-being, and security.”

King pressed her again, asking about the connection between climate change and “mass migration, famine, dislocation, political violence.” He specifically mentioned the 2019 annual threat assessment under the first Trump administration, which included a section on “Environment and Climate Change.” (snip)

Again, Gabbard responded, “For the intelligence community being aware of the environment that we’re operating in is a given. What I focused this annual threat assessment on and the IC focused this threat assessment on are the most extreme and critical direct threats to our national security.”

She should have asked him if he has stopped using fossil fuels in his own life and made his life carbon neutral. ‘Climate change’ is not a threat. Natural global warming is not a threat. It’s a condition to factor in. But, there are real issues, like Iran, Islamic terrorism, Russia, China, and North Korea. There’s illegal aliens from dangerous countries sneaking into the U.S. A slight increase in global temperatures in 175 years is not a big deal.

The ending is a hoot

“The omission of climate change ignores the hundreds of American lives lost and nearly $200 billion in damage from climate-fueled disasters in 2024, the warmest year in human history,” said Rod Schoonover, co-founder of the Ecosecurity Council and former Director of Environment and Natural Resources at the National Intelligence Council. “By trading objective reality for ideology, the intelligence community leadership is deliberately handicapping its ability to comprehensively analyze the very security landscape it’s tasked with understanding.”

European Media Turning On Giorgia Meloni Over Ukraine Support

Anyone who isn’t 100% down with supporting Ukraine will see themselves turned on. They best be flying Ukraine flags, have them in their profile, and make the appropriate responses as we are slowly led into WWIII

Europe has a Meloni problem

She was feted as the “Queen of Europe”, the pragmatic nationalist leader dragging Brussels to the Right on migration while acting as the EU’s bridge to Donald Trump’s White House.

But Giorgia Meloni’s crown has started to slip as Mr Trump’s Ukraine policy forces her to pick sides between the Americans and Europeans.

Until recently a staunch supporter of Ukraine, Ms Meloni has become a thorn in the side of European leaders, dragging her feet as they push for a massive rearmament to deter Russian aggression.

Last week, the Italian premier branded Franco-British plans for a European peacekeeping force in Ukraine “risky, complex and ineffective”.

Isn’t it? Putting NATO member troops in Ukraine, even as a supposed “peacekeeping” force, isn’t exactly safe. It would be rather provocative.

Ahead of a fresh summit of the “coalition of the willing” in Paris on Thursday one European diplomat said: “So far, she’s managed to straddle the fence a bit, but that’s increasingly becoming more difficult.”

“As the rest of Europe considers this an issue of existential importance, she risks placing herself squarely outside of the European mainstream,” the envoy warned.

Ms Meloni’s challenge is to preserve her status as a major EU power broker, while keeping an increasingly Moscow-friendly White House onside.

Oh, Lord, they’re doing this Putin-Trump thing again. I’d say they never learn, but, they just really do not care. Anyhow, she does still support arming Ukraine but without decimating Italy’s economy. She said so at CPAC. But, she’s not willing to put send her soldiers into Ukraine and she’s not for expanding EU support through military members in Ukraine. She’s not necessarily down with Trump’s peace plane, hence, she is not sufficiently pious to the Cause. The Cause which has no actual plan

She is a ruthless and canny negotiator.

“She has this pink pencil case, she gets it out and it makes everyone think she’s like a little girl at school,” a Brussels source told The Telegraph.

“And then,” the insider added, making a gesture across his throat, “she kills them”.

She is not to be played with, and she won’t take kindly to the media coming after her for not trying to drag Europe into WWIII. And she’ll stop being an ally. Yes, it would be great if Russia would get out of the small portion of Ukraine it has taken, but, is that going to happen? If so, how? Do we just keep feeding money and arms in a hope that Russian doesn’t widen the war?

Not mentioned in the article is that she is also a big supporter of Israel and Jews, not Palestinians and Hamas, and the Corporate Media doesn’t like that.

Supreme Court Declines To Heart Yout Climate (scam) Case

US Supreme Court will not hear novel youth-led climate change case

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rejected a bid by 21 young people to revive a novel lawsuit claiming the U.S. government’s energy policies violate their rights to be protected from climate change.

The justices denied a request by the youth activists to hear their appeal of a decision by the San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals directing a federal judge in Oregon to dismiss the case after holding they lacked legal standing to sue.

The decision marks the end of Juliana v. United States, one of the longest-running climate change cases that youth activists have filed nationwide and one that the plaintiffs’ lawyers say helped sparked a broader youth-led movement for climate rights.

“The Supreme Court’s decision today is not the end of the road and the impact of Juliana cannot be measured by the finality of this case alone,” Julia Olson, a lawyer for the plaintiffs at Our Children’s Trust, said in a statement.

Our Children’s Trust and its youth clients have filed a series of lawsuits accusing state and federal governments of exacerbating climate change by adopting policies that encourage or allow the extraction and burning of fossil fuels in violation of their rights.

Completely astroturfed cases driven by adult climate cultists using children as brainwashed props. And, they will file more and more. Most cults leave other people alone.

Bummer: DHS Stops Processing Green Card Processing Temporarily

DHS suspends green card processing for refugees, asylees

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said it is pausing review of green card applications for some refugees and asylees, leaving in limbo those who came to the U.S. after fleeing unrest.

The directive from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) would impact refugees already approved to come to the United States, as well as those who were granted asylum after petitioning for the protection in immigration court.

While both groups are thoroughly vetted, DHS said it would press pause on those seeking to become lawful permanent residents for “additional screening.”

“To better identify fraud, public safety or national security concerns, USCIS is placing a temporary pause on finalizing certain Adjustment of Status applications pending the completion of additional screening and vetting,” DHS said in a statement, pointing to two different executive orders by Trump.

One of the orders referenced calls for the administration to “vet and screen to the maximum degree possible all aliens who intend to be admitted, enter, or are already inside the United States, particularly those aliens coming from regions or nations with identified security risks.”

Why do we need to take in every sad sack fleeing supposed strife, who so often end up being mooches on the US taxpayer, who take but don’t give, oh, and many who are gang members and Islamists?

Judge blocks immigration officials from arresting Columbia student

A federal judge has ordered immigration authorities to halt, for now, their efforts to detain a Columbia University student who claims she is being targeted for her involvement in pro-Palestinian protests.

Manhattan-based U.S. District Judge Naomi Buchwald issued a temporary restraining order Tuesday at the request of lawyers for Yunseo Chung, 21, a Columbia junior who was born in Korea and holds a green card after coming to the U.S. as a child.

These judges just keep ruling in favor of people wishing death on Jews and Americans.

CNN Is Very Concerned Over Trump Looking To Cut FEMA

To be clear, Trump is not trying to eliminate FEMA. He couldn’t if he wanted to, it was created by Congress. He is trying to seriously cut it back, though

As Trump works to cut FEMA, data shows there was a major disaster declaration every four days in 2024

Deanne Criswell has spent years sounding the alarm about busier disaster seasons. Just days before the former chief of the Federal Emergency Management Agency stepped down at the end of the Biden administration, Criswell was directing the federal response to the deadly and destructive wildfires in Los Angeles.

“We’re seeing hurricane season last longer, we’re seeing spring severe weather season get more significant and we’re seeing the fire season go year-round now,” Criswell told CNN at the time. The agency is “more engaged in wildfire response than we ever have been before.”

It’s not just FEMA’s perception that threats are increasing — there were 90 declarations of “major disasters” in 2024.

Declaring disasters quickly is not the same as actually having them. Why? Because governors are quick to declare disaster in order to get that sweet, sweet federal money, and presidents are happy to follow along in order to look good and spread their benevolent money around to help with re-election.

Researchers also found that 41% of the US population lived in a county where a major disaster or emergency was declared — about 137 million people.

“Our analysis of FEMA data shows the agency has been responding to a growing number of climate-driven disasters over the past few decades. This is in line with what scientists warned us would happen,” said Sejal Patel, senior climate finance researcher at IIED, in a statement to CNN.

Again, the problem is that FEMA is way too involved and way too bossy. That is not their purpose. They’re also way to politicized and incompetent. Remember the failure of all those FEMA trailers after Hurricane Katrina? How many were left unused? And the rest with things like formaldehyde? They’ve failed other times, including in Western NC.

It comes as the Trump administration plans for deep staff cuts at FEMA.

“As global temperatures continue to rise, all levels of government will have no choice but to help people adapt to the realities of climate change,” Patel said, adding political leaders should be focusing on how to adapt and build resilience against climate change threats, including solutions like stronger building codes, early warning systems, reenvisioning the homeowners insurance industry and infrastructure like flood barriers.

Sigh. And that’s one of the ways they have been politicized.

The US president can declare a major disaster or emergency for any natural event, such as hurricanes, storms, tornados and landslides, when they determine an event is severe enough to surpass the ability of state and local government to respond. It provides access to federal funding for emergency needs and permanent repairs.

But, they are making that declaration for just about everything. Was a federal one necessary for the Malibu fires? No. But, FEMA would be helpful in coordinating resources coming from outside of California to help. That’s what FEMA does: coordinate. Not take control. Or determine who gets help due to politics, like when FEMA officials were telling helpers to skip Trump supporting houses.

Let FEMA do what it was meant to do, not be in full control. It’s literally about “we’re here to help” not “step back, we’re in charge.” A lot of disasters have little need of federal disaster declarations: we didn’t get them after a big tornado 40 years ago. Now we get one after everything. How much are they helping? The Maui homes have barely been seen any rebuilding. Not much is going on in Malibu. It took Trump surging resources the Army Corps Of Engineers into Western NC. Take a scalpel to FEMA, let it go back to doing the base job.

As vandals damage Tesla cars, set fire to charging stations and protesters set up shop at dealerships, local Tesla owners feel on edge getting behind the wheel of their vehicles.

Across the country, we’ve seen cars and charging stations set on fire, and hundreds of protests outside of showrooms across the country – including in our area.

Jese Martinez says someone shot his driver-side window as he drove his Tesla Model S late Sunday in Zebulon.

“I look to my left and see all the glass shattered,” he told WRAL News outside his home. (snip)

WRAL News previously spoke with a Tesla owner from southern Wake County who found the word ‘Nazi’ etched in his car

He said he is unfairly targeted, considering he purchased his car back in 2019.

“Driving around previously I’ve had folks roll coals on me or give me the middle finger or cut me off aggressively on purpose,” Jeremy told WRAL.

That seems a bit more than “backlash”, and using backlash is more akin to blaming a woman for wearing a short skirt. And WRAL and Deborah Ross both blasted the limited violence on J6. Now? Not a peep in decrying this targeted violence. Ross’s district encompasses most of Raleigh, but, only a tiny bit of Zebulon. Still, not a peep.
