COP29 climate talks urged to find $1 trillion a year for poorer countries

Countries at the COP29 summit tried to make progress on how to raise up to $1 trillion in climate finance for the world’s most vulnerable, as political tensions overshadowed the talks and Argentina on Thursday pulled its delegation from Baku.

The success of this year’s U.N. climate summit hinges on whether countries can agree on a new finance target for richer countries, development lenders and the private sector to deliver each year. Developing countries need at least $1 trillion annually by the end of the decade to cope with climate change, economists told the U.N. talks.

Many countries have said that money is essential to their setting ambitious climate goals ahead of next year’s COP30 in Brazil.

But reaching a deal could be tough at this year’s summit, where the mood has been soured by public disagreements and pessimism about shifts in global politics.

All we need is 1 billion Warmists to pony up $1000 each and we are at a trillion. Certainly we can find that many in the first world who could do that, right? Heck, that number could be reduced if the Elites drop a million or more out of their own money, right? It really does give you an idea on how much money the climate cult wants from Other People, because these rich bigwigs at COP29 do not seems willing to give their own money.

Crazy Democrat Causes 800 In Utah To Lose Power

Just another in a long line of Kamala voters and Trump Derangers

(ABC4) A woman is now receiving treatment after she damaged power equipment and climbed a substation transformer in Salt Lake City Wednesday morning during what police say was a mental health episode.

The incident, which took place near Gladiola Street and Decade Drive, led to authorities cutting power to more than 800 homes to prevent the woman from being electrocuted. According to the Salt Lake City Police Department, the alleged trespasser was taken into custody and transported to the hospital. (snip)

[Bystander] said he saw a woman standing on top of the substation transformer “screaming obscenities” at the police as they tried to coax her to come down. He also noticed what looked like a smashed circuit box and a pipe nearby. That’s when four or five more police cars pulled up to the scene.

Kent said he heard the woman yelling about how the world was no longer safe for her or future children and negotiators attempting to convince her to come down from the power structure. As the situation unfurled over the next 20 to 30 minutes, Kent said a large crowd of people gathered near the substation.

Sounds very much like a Kamala voter, eh? This is the language of the wackos yammering about Trump destroying America. In fairness, she could be a climate cult member, but, then, most of them are Kamala voters, too.

Kent said when she stepped onto the rim of a cherry picker an officer shot a less lethal weapon, such as a stun gun or rubber gun, which was followed by a “yelp.”

So, no, she didn’t drop a kid off at the pool near the end, it was probably a bean bag. They popped her a second time.

Salt Lake City police told ABC4 they are working to get the person involved the resources they need. They did not provide any identifying characteristics about the alleged trespasser.

Well, jail would be one option. Can one be cured of Trump Derangement Syndrome? Especially when the media, politicians, and social media will be replete with it for the next 4 years?

PRC Climate (scam) Rule To Ban Diesel Motorhome Sales In 6 States

RV Sales To Be Banned Across Six States As California Climate Rules Take Effect

Diesel motorhome sales are set to be halted in several states at the start of next year due to a new climate rule from California being enacted, according to RVtravel.

Motorhome sales are being prevented in California, Washington, Oregon, New York, Massachusetts and New Jersey if the vehicles do not meet certain emission requirements based on regulations from the California Air Resources Board (CARB), according to RVtravel. CARB amended its Advanced Clean Truck regulations on Oct. 24, which require all vehicles over 8,500 pounds to produce zero emissions.

These states all link together, so, since the People’s Republik Of California essentially banned the sale of diesel motorhomes unless they sell enough other compliant vehicles to comply with the arcane rules, the other states do the same. But, hey, don’t think you can just buy one in another state

(RV Travel) DeMartini is quick to point out that California residents who think they can do an end-run around the new California motorhome rule should think twice. Leave the state, buy the motorhome of your choice, and bring it back to California—hit a brick wall. California residents will NOT be allowed to register their rig if it doesn’t meet the ACT regulations. The same may be true in the other five states. DeMartini said dealers in Washington state are working to get an exemption for RVs under Washington’s law, but it remains to be seen whether that will happen.

Got all that? An un-elected board of bureaucrats in California decided they do not like diesel motorhomes, hence, people in 6 states won’t be able to buy or register them. Companies which make them will lose money, dealers which sell them will lose money, and US citizens who want them won’t be able to buy them.

Eva Longoria Moves Out Of The U.S. Or Something

Actress Eva Longoria admitted that she and her family have fled the “dystopian” United States — leaving the homelessness and high taxes of California for a brighter life in Mexico and Spain.

“I had my whole adult life here,” Longoria told Marie Claire. “But even before [the pandemic], it was changing. The vibe was different. And then COVID happened, and it pushed it over the edge. Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to s–t on California — it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now.”

While Los Angeles is seemingly no longer her speed, the 49-year-old “Desperate Housewives” star also cited the most recent presidential election as a reason she was confident in her decision to leave.

“The shocking part is not that he won,” she said of former President Donald Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris. “It’s that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office.”

“If he keeps his promises, it’s going to be a scary place,” she said, recalling how depressed she felt following Trump’s 2016 win.

Longoria, who spent the summer volunteering to rally voters for Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, expressed her disillusionment with the US election process.

Well, it’s cute an all, but, she doesn’t spend that much time in Los Angeles to start with. She already owns a house in Mexico and one in Spain. That’s where she was living most of the time already. So, she really isn’t doing much more than yapping.

“I get to escape and go somewhere,” she said. “Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”

Oh, please, bleating from an elitist celeb. Does she know that Spain has what are called “non-criminal hate speech” laws, where people can get in trouble for mean tweets? Anyway, pretty much no other celebs have “left”.

climate cowEfforts to slow climate change and mitigate its impact, particularly on the poor, are being thwarted by selfishness, the Vatican secretary of state told world leaders at the COP29 climate conference.

Representing Pope Francis at the conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, Cardinal Pietro Parolin told the leaders that their Nov. 11-22 gathering was taking place at a time of “growing disillusionment with multilateral institutions and dangerous tendencies to build walls.”

But, he said, “selfishness — individual, national and of power groups — feeds a climate of mistrust and division that does not respond to the needs of an interdependent world in which we should act and live as members of one family inhabiting the same interconnected global village.”

Ignoring or denying the problem will not make the problem go away, the cardinal said. “Indifference is an accomplice to injustice.”

I’m sure he got a rousing round of applause from all the individuals, nations, and power groups who took long fossil fueled trips to the petrofuel nation of Azerbaijan in an attempt to take the money and liberty of people around the world.

Democrats Lose It Over Trump Picks For Agency Heads

Trump’s Gaetz pick as AG triggers audible gasp among some congressional Republicans

Reaction among Republicans on Capitol Hill to President-elect Donald Trump’s choice of Matt Gaetz to be his attorney general on Wednesday ranged from shock to support.

Several House Republicans meeting behind closed doors said there was an audible gasp in the room when they heard Trump had picked Gaetz.

Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins was among those who said they were shocked, appearing to refer to Trump’s demand that his nominees be done with recess appointments — without Senate confirmation.

“This shows why the advice and consent process is so important, and I’m sure that there will be a lot of questions raised at his hearing,” Collins told reporters. “Obviously, the president has the right to nominate whomever he wishes, but I’m certain that there will be a lot of questions.”

Alaska GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who voted to find Trump guilty at his second impeachment trial during his first term, said “I don’t think this is a serious nomination for the attorney general.”

“We need to have a serious attorney general and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to consider somebody that is serious,” she said. “This one was not on my bingo card.”

Anyone surprised by those two? Obviously, Democrats lost their every loving you know what over this.

There has obviously been a freakout over all. Marco Rubio as Secretary Of State seems safe, as does John Ratcliffe for CIA Director, but, Army veteran Pete Hegseth as Secretary Of Defense? Kristi Noem as Director Of Homeland Security? Lee Zeldin as head of the EPA? Most of these people, so far, are not meant to be administrators: they are meant to be bomb throwers. People who will shake things up, bring the hammer down on waste, fraud, malfeasance, on people who are working on their own agenda rather than doing the best for the citizens of the United States. People who do not want to be public servants, but, Lords. I can’t wait for Trump’s pick of FBI director. This is what Trump was elected for.

I upgraded to WordPress 6.7 this morning, and it left some old files that caused a big problem, to the point I had to reach out to Dreamhost technical support, because I never would have found it. They’re really fantastic. Should be fixed.

Is everyone seeing the normal theme now, or something that looks weird, which is the WP Twenty Twenty-Four theme which I have done nothing to, and is more of a business type theme?

It Looks Like Trump’s “Department Of Government Efficiency” Is Going To Happen

It won’t be an official department, unless the GOP run House and Senate decide to make it so, and, they really, really, really, really, really should trot out legislation to create it, because it would be delicious to see Senate Democrats filibustering it, for refusing to vote on voting for it (the whole 60 votes cloture thing). Maybe they could simply replace the Department of Education, which doesn’t seem to do much but make education worse

Trump Appoints Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy To Lead New Department Of Government Efficiency

President-elect Donald Trump announced Tuesday that Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will together establish a new Department of Government Efficiency in his second administration.

Musk and Ramaswamy have been appointed to “slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures and restructure Federal Agencies,” Trump’s statement reads. The former president added that the government department led by Musk and Ramaswamy will partner with the White House Office of Management and Budget in an effort “to drive large scale structural reform.”

“I look forward to Elon and Vivek making changes to the Federal Bureaucracy with an eye on efficiency and, at the same time, making life better for all Americans. Importantly, we will drive out the massive waste and fraud which exists throughout our annual $6.5 Trillion Dollars of Government Spending,” Trump’s statement reads.

“This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in Government waste, which is a lot of people!” Musk said in a statement included in Trump’s press release.

But, now, they have to figure out a way to make this work and to enforce their recommendations. To have the ability to have federal employees/contractors working for them to find the waste and fraud. To do something about the fraud. The devil is in the details. Especially since they will find so much waste and fraud within the federal system that there is no joke to be found.

(UK Independent) Trump’s announcement has characterized the department as an advisory board that will “provide guidance outside of government.”

Musk and Ramaswamy’s work will conclude “no later than July 4, 2026,” the announcement added – 18 months after Trump takes office.

Now we wait and see. Will this end up being more like Rand Paul’s “Festivus” report on waste, same as a few other Republicans have done? Or something with teeth to do something about the continued waste and fraud?
