Dems Want To Stop Cuts To Climate (scam) Funding

These would be the same Democrats who refuse to give up their own use of fossil fuels and take the train instead of flights, right?

Democrats eye changes to climate spending clawbacks

Democratic senators are plotting ways to reduce or eliminate proposed cuts to international clean energy and climate programs in the White House’s rescissions package ahead of crucial Senate votes this week.

The eleventh-hour push to narrow the scope of the energy and environment clawbacks comes as the chamber prepares to finalize and then pass the Trump administration’s first set of formal funding repeals focused on public broadcasting and foreign aid.

The effort to strike the cuts may not succeed amid growing Republican momentum behind the package and some White House concessions to GOP lawmakers.

But it could give Democrats yet another platform from which to bash the GOP for pursuing policies that they say will threaten energy security, raise electricity prices and further erode the United States’ reputation as a global leader in the fight against climate change.

No one believes this but Politico. Solar and wind are not reducing energy prices, and are also making energy less reliable. But, the government money is a great way to hook up campaign donors to Democrats.

The legislation needs only a simple majority to pass, and it must get the president’s signature by midnight Friday in order to rescind the funds in question.

The legislation, championed by Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought, would target the United States’ fiscal 2025 contributions to multilateral environmental efforts such as the Montreal Protocol and the Clean Technology Fund.

It would repeal $496 million in already appropriated funds for international disaster and humanitarian aid. And it would claw back millions more approved dollars for economic assistance and foreign aid programs that often address environmental issues abroad.

It’s all scam money, which ends up in the pockets of Dem friendly NGOs and companies, and does little to help the people it is reportedly meant to help.

“How many people went to the polls and told politicians to spend $7.4 million of their hard-earned money on teaching foreign countries about ‘environmental racism’? No one,” Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) quipped on the Senate floor, referring to a program the administration says the bill will target.

It all adds up. And most goes into someone’s pocket. None of this is authorized by the Constitution as specific spending priority.

DHS Sends “Uniquely Barbaric” Illegals To African Nation of Eswatini

Yeah, I had to look up where it was as well. Oh, and spellcheck doesn’t even recognize the name, even though it was changed in 2018

U.S. sends deportees convicted of violent crimes to small African country of Eswatini

The Trump administration on Tuesday said it deported a group of men convicted of violent crimes to the small African country of Eswatini, in its latest expansion of deportations to far-flung places that are not deportees’ home countries.

Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said the deportees hailed from Cuba, Jamaica, Laos, Vietnam and Yemen, and had been convicted of serious crimes in the U.S. The men’s criminal records included convictions for murder, homicide and child rape, McLaughlin added.

The deported men, McLaughlin said, are “so uniquely barbaric that their home countries refused to take them back.”

It’s unclear what will immediately happen to the men sent to Eswatini, a landlocked country in southern Africa that was formerly known as Swaziland. The tiny nation is slightly bigger in size than Connecticut, has around 1.2 million residents and is ruled by a king.

Does anyone really care? I don’t. Do you? They’re out of the U.S. We don’t want them here. Maybe next time we can drop them on an uninhabited island in Indonesia. No one buy the hardcore illegal supporting Democrats are going to miss them or even think about them, but, those same hardcores wouldn’t want them in their own neighborhoods. Will these horrible people be locked up or just released and left to their own devices? Maybe they will be fed to the small number of gangs.

‘My dad isn’t a criminal’: Facing charges, scared detainees choose fast-track deportation

In a cold courtroom in downtown, Isabela Hurtado sat in a wooden pew. It had been over a month since she last saw her father.

On May 29, she watched him get ready for work at a construction site near the capital city’s CollegeTown. When she next saw him, on July 2, he was in an orange jumpsuit, shackled by the hands and ankles, waiting to see a federal judge.

“All I wanted to do in that moment was cry, but I had to contain myself,” Hurtado, 19, said.

She looked at her dad, Juan Hurtado Solano, seated next to his public defender. He turned around and smiled. Minutes later, he pleaded guilty to illegally reentering the United States, a federal crime with a potential punishment of up to two years in prison and $250,000 fine.

The law says re-entry after being deported is a felony. So, yes, daddy is a criminal

Amid President Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration, more people are being charged for illegal reentry into the United States. And many of those defendants are pleading guilty and agreeing not to challenge their case or removal because of fears of getting stuck in the immigration system, spending more time in detention or being deported to a country that is not their own.

So they choose fast-track and self-deportation. Unfortunately, they will surely try to re-enter again. We should drop them on an uninhabited island off the coast of Alaska with a knife and tent for punishment.

“My dad isn’t a criminal,” Hurtado said. “My dad is literally a person who works every day, goes home, takes care of family, and that’s that.”

The law says he is a criminal. There are lots of parents who work hard, take care of their families, and are criminals. No one one writes puff pieces when they go to jail. Only if they’re illegals do they get this treatment.

Your Fault: ‘Climate Change’ Making Winter Storms Worse Or Something

Oh, lawdy, here we go again

Winter nor’easters have steadily grown more severe and will worsen with climate change, Penn researchers find

Winter nor’easters have steadily grown more severe over the last eight decades, and they will become even worse if climate change is not dealt with, according to a new study co-authored by a University of Pennsylvania professor.

The research, published Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences,  looked at 85 years of nor’easter data and found that over this period, the destructive potential of maximum wind speeds increased by 20%, and snowfall has risen about 10%.

But, what happened to

Huh

“The average nor’easter, we find, won’t necessarily be any stronger, but the strongest ones will,” said Dr. Michael Mann, study co-author and director of the Penn Center for Science, Sustainability, and the Media.

Huh what?

“Because the Arctic is warming faster than the rest of the planet, that actually leads to fewer overall storms. But those storms that do make it out feed on that extra moisture. There’s more precipitation, and that provides more energy to these storms, and they can intensify more.”

And as climate change worsens, these storms will intensify.

“It also drives home the importance of moving away from our reliance on fossil fuels toward clean energy,” said Mann, “because it is leading to these devastating extreme weather events.

Sigh.

Trump Threatens Serious Penalties On Russia And Those Who Deal With Them

The Credentialed Media doesn’t know what to think of this. When Trump goes in on sanctions he goes all in, but, they hate Trump, so, they want to figure a way to portray this as not good

Trump threatens ‘very significant’ Russia sanctions, bashes ‘all talk’ Putin

President Donald Trump upped pressure on Russia to “stop the killing” in Ukraine within 50 days, warning Tuesday that his threatened economic penalties against Moscow and its trading partners would be devastating.

Trump said yesterday he would impose secondary tariffs of up to 100 percent on countries that still trade with Russia in an effort to force the Kremlin to the negotiating table with Ukraine, giving Moscow until early September to respond.

A bill by Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut that has 85 Senate co-sponsors would authorize the president to impose secondary tariffs of at least 500 percent on imported goods from countries such as China, Brazil and India.

“They are very biting. They are very significant. And they are going to be very bad for the countries involved,” Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

But

Russia rejects Trump’s demand for a Ukraine war ceasefire in 50 days as unacceptable

Russia has rejected President Trump’s “ultimatum” for Moscow to sign a ceasefire deal to end the war in Ukraine within 50 days on Tuesday as “unacceptable,” calling for continued negotiations and insisting that the invasion ordered by President Vladimir Putin would continue until its goals are achieved.

Russia is trying to slow walk this so they can take even more Ukrainian territory.

Green Caterwauling: NASA To Blow Off Publishing “Major” Climate (scam) Report

Do we really need it? Per Cult of Climastrology dogma doom would be cancelled if each Believer stopped using fossil fuels and made their lives carbon neutral

Trump administration says it won’t publish major climate change reports on NASA website as promised

The Trump administration on Monday took another step to make it harder to find major, legally mandated scientific assessments of how climate change is endangering the nation and its people.

Earlier this month, the official government websites that hosted the authoritative, peer-reviewed national climate assessments went dark. Such sites tell state and local governments and the public what to expect in their backyards from a warming world and how best to adapt to it. At the time, the White House said NASA would house the reports to comply with a 1990 law that requires the reports, which the space agency said it planned to do.

But on Monday, NASA announced that it aborted those plans.

“The USGCRP (the government agency that oversees and used to host the report) met its statutory requirements by presenting its reports to Congress. NASA has no legal obligations to host globalchange.gov’s data,” NASA Press Secretary Bethany Stevens said in an email. That means no data from the assessment or the government science office that coordinated the work will be on NASA, she said.

Sad trombones. What is done with that assessment? More fearmongering and more requests for government money to do more research to uphold cult principles.

And you know who cares? Virtually no one except those whose prestige and money depends on it. The average American couldn’t care less.

Indigenous Australians lose climate change case against government

An Australian federal court ruled Tuesday that Indigenous residents of the Torres Strait Islands are not owed environmental protections from the nation’s government.

Justice Michael Wigney said in his dismissal that “changes wrought by the escalating impacts of global warming and climate change in the Torres Strait have had, and continue to have, a devastating impact on the traditional way of life of Torres Strait Islanders.”

However, he concluded that the case brought by island community elders Pabai Pabai and Paul Kabai “failed because the law in Australia as it currently stands provides no real or effective avenue through which the applicants were able to pursue their claims.”

Wigney further explained that current common Australian law is not written in a way that the plaintiffs could seek relief in regard to what they considered a failure of the federal government.

Wow, a judge who actually looks at the law as written by the duly elected legislative branch. I guess the islanders aren’t going to get their free money.

Supreme Court Rules Trump Admin Can, In Fact, Fire Education Department Employees

Vox thinks this is the most important decision from the Court so far. They must be upset that the government won’t be funding so many Democrat party supporters. And how so much money won’t be flowing between elected Dems and Dem supporters

The Supreme Court just handed Trump his biggest victory of his second term

The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that the Trump administration may fire more than half of the Department of Education’s workforce — mass terminations that, in Education Secretary Linda McMahon’s words, are “the first step on the road to a total shutdown” of the entire department.

The Court’s decision in McMahon v. New York, was handed down on the Court’s “shadow docket,” a mix of emergency motions and other expedited matters that the justices often decide without full briefing or oral argument. As is often the case in shadow docket decisions, none of the Republican justices explained their decision. Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote a dissent, which was joined by both of her fellow Democratic justices.

Most liberal outlets point out that there is really no explanation without mentioning it being the shadow docket. Sotomayor wrote a silly, unhinged, long dissent.

Technically, the Court’s decision in McMahon is temporary — it permits the Trump administration to fire most of the Education Department’s workers while this lawsuit is still pending in federal court. But it is far from clear how the Education Department could unwind a decision to fire more than half of its over 4,000 employees.

The McMahon decision is particularly unnerving because it suggests that President Donald Trump is allowed to “impound” federal spending — unilaterally refusing to spend money or to continue federal programs that are mandated by an act of Congress. While McMahon does not explicitly authorize impoundment, it allows the Trump administration to fire so many federal workers, in so many key roles, that the practical effect is to cancel entire federal programs.

He could simply send the money to State education departments for their use, rather than running it through the politicized federal ED.

(NBC News) “The United States Supreme Court has handed a Major Victory to Parents and Students across the Country, by declaring the Trump Administration may proceed on returning the functions of the Department of Education BACK TO THE STATES,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Now, with this GREAT Supreme Court Decision, our Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon, may begin this very important process.”

Really, he cannot shut it down without Congress eliminating it, but, hey, they could whittle it down to 10 employees. It would still be technically open, just, utterly ineffective.

(WRAL) North Carolina is joining other states in a federal lawsuit against the Trump administration over more than $165 million in frozen education funds intended for nearly all of the state’s school systems and charter schools and several nonprofit groups.

The administration has canceled billions of dollars in federal education grants nationwide since February. Several states have sued, but North Carolina had not yet done so when it comes to education funds.

North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson, who announced the state’s role in the lawsuit Monday, said the cuts could result in the elimination of about 1,000 North Carolina education jobs.

Are those jobs necessary? Who are the nonprofit groups? Is the money treated as a slush fund for Democrat supporters and elected officials?

A White House spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. The federal Office of Management and Budget has previously cited issues with the way at least some grants were spent as the reason for the delay, while the office reviews the entire funding programs.

“This is an ongoing programmatic review of education funding,” the office previously said in a statement. “Initial findings show that many of these grant programs have been grossly misused to subsidize a radical leftwing agenda” that helps unauthorized immigrant students, among other things.

Reviewing the funding, digging into where the money is going, is not something Democrats want.

State Department Says Adios To Remain Climate Hysterics

Well, now they can go work in the private sector

The State Department fires remaining employees who worked on climate change

The State Department on Friday fired the remaining staff working in the office responsible for international climate policy, including annual U.N. negotiations related to climate treaties, according to three people familiar with the matter.

Most of the staff in the Office of Global Change had left voluntarily after President Donald Trump took office and moved rapidly to pull the United States out of international climate talks. Nearly a dozen people who remained on staff were fired Friday, and the office will be shuttered as part of the wider downsizing of the department, the people familiar with the firings said. (snip)

Firing the staff of the Office of Global Change, many of whom worked under both Democratic and Republicans administrations, leaves the State Department without employees who are knowledgeable about global climate negotiations, said Alden Meyer, a senior associate specializing in climate diplomacy at the think tank E3G.

“Without the office in place, there’s not a focal point for the organization of U.S. climate diplomacy, but that seems to be the point, right? To not have the U.S. engaging in climate diplomacy seems to be the policy goal of the administration,” Meyer said.

It’s a real shame that there will no longer be fancy-pants, Ivy League Elites working to take your money and spread it around the world for absolutely no return. No longer be negotiating deals that force Americans to change their lives.

Bummer: ICE Plans To Hold Illegals Without Bond Till Their Day In Court

They can all avoid this by self-deporting

ICE declares millions of undocumented immigrants ineligible for bond hearings

The Trump administration has declared that immigrants who arrived in the United States illegally are no longer eligible for a bond hearing as they fight deportation proceedings in court, according to documents reviewed by The Washington Post.

In a July 8 memo, Todd M. Lyons, acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, told officers that such immigrants should be detained “for the duration of their removal proceedings,” which can take months or years. Lawyers say the policy will apply to millions of immigrants who crossed the U.S.-Mexico border over the past few decades, including under Biden.

In the past, immigrants residing in the U.S. interior generally have been allowed to request a bond hearing before an immigration judge. But Lyons wrote that the Trump administration’s departments of Homeland Security and Justice had “revisited its legal position on detention and release authorities” and determined that such immigrants “may not be released from ICE custody.” In rare exceptions immigrants may be released on parole, but that decision will be up to an immigration officer, not a judge, he wrote.

The provision is based on a section of immigration law that says unauthorized immigrants “shall be detained” after their arrest, but that has historically applied to those who recently crossed the border and not longtime residents.

Doesn’t matter: they are here illegally. The law states they can be held. We’ve seen what happens when they are let go on bond/own recognizance: they disappear for years/decades.

Since the memos were issued last week, the American Immigration Lawyers Association said members had reported that immigrants were being denied bond hearings in more than a dozen immigration courts across the United States, including in New York, Virginia, Oregon, North Carolina, Ohio and Georgia. The Department of Justice oversees the immigration courts.

All they have to say is “I want to leave the U.S.” and they will escorted out of a detention facility and put on a plane or across the border. It’s that easy. And it is a whole lot easier to run deportation hearings when all illegal alien is right there. This also entices illegals to just leave and avoid the whole thing.

In its 2024 annual report, however, ICE said it detains immigrants only “when necessary” and that the vast majority of the 7.6 million people then on its docket were released pending immigration proceedings. Keeping them detained while their case is adjudicated has not been logistically possible, and advocates have raised concern for migrants’ health and welfare in civil immigration detention.

That was 2024. As we were told, elections have consequences.
