Proud Boys leader Joe Biggs was sentenced to 17 years today after being convicted of seditious conspiracy, obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to prevent an officer from discharging any duties, obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder, destruction of government property and aiding and abetting. Prosecutors had asked for 33 years.
Said Biggs: “I know that I have to be punished and I understand,” but added “please give me the chance, I beg you, to take my daughter to school and pick her up.”
“I know that I messed up that day, but I am not a terrorist,” he said through tears. Biggs said that he was “seduced” by the mob and “just moved forward.
“I wanted to see what would happen,” he said. “My curiosity got the best of me and I’m going to have to live with that for the rest of my life.”

One hopes that the next President, a Republican inaugurated on January 20, 2025, will pardon each and every defendant convicted of anything in the Capitol kerfuffle.

Ford pardoned Nixon. H.W. Bush pardoned the Iran-Contra gang. Trump pardoned Manafort, Roger Stone, Bannon, Joe Arpaia, Dinesh D’Souza, Bernie Kerik, Michael Flynn, Ivanka’s daddy in law,

So why didn’t President Trump pardon the insurrectionists? He had the unrestricted power to do so. Healing the nation is the last thing Donnie Trump has in mind. Following the Vietnam conflict, President Carter issued a blanket pardon for violators of the Selective Service Act.
You guys are boogaloos, and this will not be forgotten. America will continue to pursue those that attempt to overturn elections and overthrow the government. That should come as no surprise.
Of course, Mr Biggs had to issue some statement in a plea for leniency, but I sincerely hope that these men say, publicly, when they are finally released, that tyhey meant every bit of their actions and only wish that they had succeeded.
There is little doubt that the seditionists thought they could overthrow the United States government. After all, their Messiah-like leader, Donnie Trump, told them so.

Leniency?? If Biggs was a true believer why wouldn’t he be brave like Oath Keeper, Elmer Rhodes, who said the only crime he is guilty of was “opposing those who are destroying our country” and that others imprisoned for their role in Jan. 6 have been “grossly overcharged.”
Juries have convicted several of the tactical leaders of seditious conspiracy, a serious charge. Besides being ready to ditch any form of democracy, the seditious right is ready to deep six trials by jury. Just let the “dear leader for life” decide the crime, the guilt, the sentence.

I watch makers shoot each other in the street everyday and they don’t get sentenced to that amount of time in prison. Again, you might have missed this. After President Trump clearly lost the 2020 election, President Trump was desperate to stay in office, fearing what prosecutors might charge him with if he lost the election, which he did. Trump conspired with his lawyers, advisors and many red state legislators to block the certification of the EC vote. He was indicted for this conspiracy. I know, I know, how stupid was the whole Big Lie, but Trump was desperate.
His final attempt was to delay or even stop the Constitutional Congressional certification of the vote by the United States Vice President. Do you really believe/feel that it was a coincidence that President Trump sent thousands of angry protesters to the US Capitol at exactly the time the vote certification was taking place? Really? Really? His indicted lawyer, Sid Powell, was putting together a challenge for the SCROTUS to review at that time as well.
Being gullible is not an excuse in court. Almost all the Jan 6 rioters who pleaded guilty or were convicted received light sentences. The leaders of the Oath Keepers, Proud Boys, Dead Rabbits and Five Points Gang who should have known better received longer sentences.
Donald Trump exhibited extreme hate for America. So did many of his followers.
