Fucker should be tried for negligent homicide along with this guy.

An emergency official who defended a decision to not sound outdoor alert sirens on Maui as a ferocious fire raged has resigned.

Maui Emergency Management Agency Administrator Herman Andaya had said this week that he had no regrets about not deploying the system because he feared it could have caused people to go “mauka,” a Hawaiian term that can mean toward the mountains or inland.

      Yeah this guy…

people on Maui begged state officials to allow West Maui stream water to be diverted to fill up reservoirs for firefighting. That request went to M. Kaleo Manuel, Deputy Director of Hawaii’s Commission on Water Resource Management, and he delayed approval of that water for five hours – five hours in which the once-contained fire exploded. By the time the approval was received, workers were unable to reach the siphon release so that the water could be diverted. Now we’re learning that Manuel, an Obama Foundation Leader for the Asia Pacific Region, is a climate change activist and DEI devotee who’s said, “Like, we can share [water], but it requires true conversations about equity.”

      Pups,
I just watched a Hawaiian who has a prominent web site and he has a summary of the fire and cause. I have bad news, he is blaming the whole thing on the white man, going all the way back to the original missionary families. Damn white men cause everything.

As it happens, my father was born on Mau’i, and Mau’i has been full of Portuguese immigrants since the 1870s. Originally migrant farm workers, the Portuguese are economically and politically powerful on the island.

The left want to say that we’re all immigrants, but on both my mother’s and father’s side of the family, they were living in what is now the United States before the United States was there. In Massachusetts in 1620, my family helped create the United States, and the US did not take possession of Hawai’i until after my father’s family were already there.

Well, maybe curious about the weather.

President Biden used at least three pseudonyms during his vice presidency to send messages to his son Hunter concerning both family and official government business — including meetings with Ukrainian leaders, emails found on the first son’s abandoned laptop show.

What Republicans are saying about Donald Trump’s GA indictment:

“The Georgia I know and love would never use its laws against a white person.” — Fred B. – diner cook, GA

“Weaponizing the justice system to score political points should only be done when the targets are pregnant women or gay high school kids.” — Ron D. – presidential candidate, FL

“I’ve never met this man in my life.” — Rudy G. – lawyer, NY

“I still thought he was a really good guy after the first three indictments, but this one turned me into a Democrat.” — John P. – bus driver, AR

“And yet the Dominion voting machines are free to walk the streets.” — Kathy B. – optometrist, SC

    Well now…

A federal appeals court on Friday ordered a new sentence for a North Carolina man who pleaded guilty to a petty offense in the Capitol riot — a ruling that could impact dozens of low-level cases in the massive Jan. 6, 2021 prosecution.

The appeals court in Washington said James Little was wrongly sentenced for his conviction on a misdemeanor offense to both prison time and probation, which is court-ordered monitoring of defendants who are not behind bars.

Will the Supreme Court bail out the GOP?

    14th Amendment
    Section 3.

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

It seems Mr Trump is Constitutionally ineligible to run for President.

The Dems fervently want Mr Trump be the GOP candidate. Mainstream GOP wants ABT, Anybody But Trump. They have a much better chance with a mainstreamer like Christie. It seems the GOP is Constitutionally compelled to NOT allow Trump as their candidate! Trump would sue, of course. What a legal nightmare!!

    • Jl says:

Will the Dems show “insurrection” evidence? It seems they think “to protest peacefully and patriotically” are some kind of code words for insurrection. No doubt that meant burn it down….

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Jl: Will the Dems show “insurrection” evidence?

They can, but are they required to do so to satisfy the 14th Amendment? A qualification for president is NOT to have supported insurrection. The evidence will be presented in the two Trump Jan 6 related trials.

        The qualifications:

Be a natural-born citizen of the United States (Article 2)
Be at least 35 years old (Article 2)
Have been a resident of the United States for 14 years (Article 2)
Not to have supported insurrection or rebellion against the US (14th Amendment)
Not been impeached AND convicted ((Article 1)
Not already exceeded Constitutional term limits (22nd Amendment)

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.

At first it seems up to the GOP to decide if Mr Trump qualifies for the office. Some Constitutional scholars say yes, some say no. If the GOP disqualifies Mr Trump, he will no doubt take it to the courts, since campaigning and potentially winning are his literal “get out of jail free cards”. If the GOP doesn’t disqualify him it’s unlikely the Dems will try to get him disqualified.

Recall the brouhaha over candidate Obama being a “natural born citizen” (born in Hawaii, but father not a citizen),the mini-brouhaha over candidate McCain (born in Canal Zone). (Ignore the ignorant Trump birther bullshit over Obama).
