Once Upon A Time, ‘Climate Change’ Makes Summer 5 Times More Likely

Oh, sorry, I meant “scientists say”

Current heatwave across US south made five times more likely by climate crisis

The record heatwave roiling parts of Texas, Louisiana and Mexico was made at least five times more likely due to human-caused climate change, scientists have found, marking the latest in a series of recent extreme “heat dome” events that have scorched various parts of the world.

A stubborn ridge of high pressure has settled over Mexico and a broad swath of the southern US over the past three weeks, pushing the heat index, a combination of temperature and humidity, to above 48C (120F) in some places.

The heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and oceans by the burning of fossil fuels made the extreme heatwave at least five times more likely, according to a recent analysis by Climate Central, a climate science non-profit. The punishing heat, which is forecast to linger further throughout the week in Texas, is creating “stressful conditions for millions of people”, according to Andrew Pershing, vice-president for science at Climate Central.

Speaking to the Guardian on Monday, Andrew Dessler, a climate scientist at Texas A&M University said the university’s campus at College Station has had a string of days above 37C (100F), when it usually doesn’t hit such peaks until August. “It’s depressing to think we’re not even in July and we are getting this sort of heat,” he said. “When it’s this hot you are a prisoner in your own house, you are a prisoner to air conditioning.”

Well, obviously, prior to fossil fueled vehicles and CO2 going above 350ppm the weather was utterly and entirely stable, and things never changed. Forecasting was easy, because weather was consistent. Right? There were certainly no times like heat of the 1930’s or cooling of the late 40’s thru late 70’s. We all know that no matter what happens, the climate cult will be there to involved itself.

it is absolutely incredible that people believe the total BS these folks spew. That by giving them money and your rights they can CONTROL THE WEATHER!!! which is total BULLLL!!

  2. MrLiberty says:

And how much is HAARP and other US-funded Geoengineering projects/stations around the globe contributing to what we are seeing? Because we can ALL see with our own eyes at least SOME of what is being done to our world and our skies.

Malaria cases in Florida, Texas are first US spread in 20 years, CDC warns

    CNN

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is warning doctors and public health officials about a handful of locally acquired cases of malaria. There hasn’t been a case of malaria caught locally in the US in 20 years.

Typically, if Americans get sick with malaria they’ve caught it while traveling overseas in areas where malaria is more common.

Low hundreds predicted in MO Thurs Fri as Texas heatdome spreads.

Pretty sure it has nothing to do with the millions of illegals flooding into the country.

We have the mosquito predominantly responsible for malaria. The disease was endemic here until the 50s and since has only rarely occurred. But the fearless leader let in tens of million wet backs with unknown health history. And that is all the mosquito needs to cause an epidemic far worse than the COVID. And this time for sure it can be treated by HCM, I will take bets that they withhold the drug.

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

NEW YORK (AP) — The United States has seen five cases of malaria spread by mosquitos in the last two months — the first time there’s been local spread in 20 years.

There were four cases detected in Florida and one in Texas.

About 2,000 U.S. cases of malaria are diagnosed each year — the vast majority in travelers coming from countries where malaria commonly spreads.

The report noted Plasmodium vivax a less pathogenic strain of malaria in the 5 patients. The Anopheles quadrimaculatus mosquito is abundant in the U.S. and can transmit malaria and West Nile Virus.

There are a number of effective treatments for malaria, including chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine (HCQ).

The heat waves of the 30s were regional not global
Globally we are almost 1c hotter than in the 30s

The heat waves of the 30s were regional not global

They still are. We are not seeing a global heatwave.

Globally we are almost 1c hotter than in the 30s

WOW! Are you stating a scientific fact that “we” are not even one degree warmer 100% of the time than “we” were almost 100 years ago? STOP THE WORLD ITS ARMAGEDDON!

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

A 1C (1.8F) increase in mean global surface temperature is significant. BTW, mean is the same as average. So of course we are seeing a warming Earth.

It’s not Armageddon yet, but likely will be. Your kids and grandkids are unlikely to thank you.

      John,
I don’t think people are debating climate change as it has been occurring for 20,000 years. So what is your point and concern? Are you still on the bad old carbon doing things? Grow up.

  5. Jl says:

Funny-“5 times more likely…”. “I’m 5 times more likely to go to this store than that store”. Doesn’t mean I will, doesn’t mean I won’t. In other words, it’s still an unknown

    Dear H:

“Globally we are almost 1c hotter than in the 30s”

    And you have proof???

    Let’s see it.

  8. BLSinSC says:

WOW – only 1% HIGHER??? But how many heat sensors were in PARKING LOTS 100 years ago?? Hmmm – might be a FACTOR!!

  9. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Youse guys don’t need to worry. The worst of global warming will occur after you’re dead, so your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will have to deal with it.

You’ve won! Live it up!! Fight the power!

    • drowningpuppies says:

Like there’s anything humans can do about it.

J-you shouldn’t worry, either. There’s no proof of warming causing a “crisis”.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

      Jilly One Note!!

You’ve won the battle. Just relax. You’ll be dead. Don’t worry, be happy.
