    Maybe she should be fired.
    And yes, she is black.

DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston announced on Friday that she is recusing her office from the prosecution of these Antifa goons. WSB-TV reports that Boston released a statement that she will “withdraw her office from the prosecution of all current cases related to the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center.”

Despite appearances. Disney is not going broke any time soon. They may not meet expectations on a movie or two, but overall, they are going to make a profit on everything.

Uber conservative Texas Republican gets an intern intoxicated and rapes* her, then has her buy emergency contraception. What a horrible hypocrite. It sounds as if he may have been the victim!!

Bryan Slaton, 45, resigned on Monday while facing mounting calls from the state’s Republican party and conservative groups to step down. A state house investigation last week determined that he supplied alcohol to the intern and another young staffer, had sex with the intern after she had become intoxicated, and later showed her a threatening email while saying everything would be fine if she kept quiet about the encounter.

But the intern, who one complainant described as “naive”, agreed to Slaton’s request to visit his apartment. The other women went with her, and the lawmaker served them alcohol, according to the report.

One of the young women drank enough to vomit, and the others were intoxicated enough to become dizzy and experience “split vision”, investigators said.

Two of them eventually left but the intern stayed, according to investigators. She told her friends Slaton drove her home the next morning, stopping at a drugstore so she could obtain emergency contraception.

Slaton at one point proposed to penalize the use of emergency contraception, including what is known as the Plan B pill. Besides his proposed ban on children attending drag shows, he also drew attention for seeking a vote on whether Texas should secede from the US.

    What’s the matter with nuSCOTUS?

Supreme Court Upholds State Courts’ Power to Prevent Gerrymanders

In a 6-3 ruling, the justices affirmed the power of state courts to review state laws governing federal elections — a decision that rejects a once-fringe legal theory pushed by Republicans.

(Thomas, Alito and Gorsuch in dissent)

A particularly robust reading of the theory — which the court turned aside — would have empowered state legislatures to make decisions on all aspects of elections, from congressional lines to how people register to vote and cast a ballot, without any opportunity for challengers to contest those decisions in state courts under state laws or constitutions. Opponents of the theory argued that it could have led to unchecked partisan gerrymandering, and laws that would make it harder for people to vote.

Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the court’s opinion, joined by the three liberal justices, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson, along with two conservatives, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett. Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch dissented.

In doing so, the nation’s top court maintained the power of state courts to review election laws under state constitutions, while urging federal courts to “not abandon their own duty to exercise judicial review.”

Conservative legal activists backed by some GOP operatives had urged the high court to broaden the power of state legislatures, often under Republican control in recent years. A Supreme Court decision adopting the theory would have upended congressional elections — and potentially the presidential election — heading into 2024.

But, but, but… shouldn’t Republican legislatures be able to determine who will be President?

  7. CarolAnn says:

First you state: “Uber conservative Texas Republican gets an intern intoxicated and rapes* her,” then you note that:
” it took place in Texas where it may not be a crime to have sex with an intoxicated girl.” So was it rape or not?

Then you use a (crime) as a political cudgel as if his politics somehow had something to do with the crime, then you allude to it not being a crime. Are you off your meds again because if you want to compare “uber conservative” rapists to “uber leftist” rapists YOU WILL LOSE? And if you think that a persons politics determines if he’s a rapist I suggest you go fuck yourself.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Whatever it was, all his other Republicans wanted him gone. Just like Bill Clinton having sex with an intern, it’s improper in TX too.

It turns out that in Texas it depends on how drunk the girl was when Slaton penetrated her. One thing for sure, if Slaton had impregnated her she wouldn’t be able to get an abortion, which is why Slaton had her take “emergency contraception” the next morning.

You do realize that your compatriots here list the sexual peccadillos of Dems, gays and trans people all the time. But clearly Republicans also get into trouble. For example, Don Trump.

Regardless, sexual assaults or using your position to coerce colleagues into sex are wrong.

Have a good day and go fuck yourself.

But there is a second IRS whistleblower whose testimony was also released last week. This whistleblower, who is anonymous, was the lead case agent for the Hunter Biden investigation. As such, he had a detailed, hands-on knowledge of the evidence in the case.
