Climate Cult Fail: Wind Farm Being Dismantled To Expand Coal Mine

Germans, and German politicians, are realizing that Wind just cannot provide them with the power they need to heat their homes this winter. Unfortunately, they have to look towards coal, which I am not a fan of, as I’ve stated numerous times. But, trying to get natural gas at this time wouldn’t work, they need power now

Wind farm in Germany is being dismantled to expand coal mine

A wind farm in Germany is being dismantled to expand the Garzweiler lignite mine. One of eight turbines installed at the location in 2001 has already been removed. Nevertheless, the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia said it would phase out coal by 2030, as did RWE, the company that owns the mine.

Wind turbines near the Garzweiler open pit mine in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, run by German energy giant RWE, is being removed to make way for more lignite exploitation. (snip)

The court in the German town of Münster ruled this year in favor of expanding the mine. Climate activists opposed to the plans called the decision cynical and hypocritical.

The court found that no alternative surface mines would meet the necessary demand for lignite. Security of supply is currently the priority while “climate protection remains one of the key challenges of our time,” RWE pointed out and declared it seeks to support both, the article adds.

Wind just cannot provide the power for the heating that’s necessary. Maybe one day. But, if the climate activists love it so much, let them put turbines up in their back yards, see if that provides the heat for the winter.

Putting sanctions against Russia, when Russia supplies most of Deutschland’s natural gas, has had some rather negative consequences.

The central latitude of Dusseldorf, the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, is 51º14′ North, the line of which, in our hemisphere, is north of every one of our contiguous 48 states, north of the northernmost point of Maine, north of 49º, which forms our straight border with Canada. People forget that much of democratic Europe is further north than the United States.

To quote Ned Stark, “Winter is coming.”

    • Professor Hale says:

They’ll be fine. Germany, despite it’s relatively northern latitude has generally mild winters. As Joe Biden says, they can just wear a sweater.

“maybe one day….” Sounds to me like Teach us getting greener by acknowledging the place that renewables will take in providing energy.
Germany currently has about 30000 wind turbines installed. Teach is reporting that 8 of these are being removed because of the unreliability of foreign fossil fuel sources.
Teach now claims to have never been a big fan of coal.
Most of Germany lies south of London.

But most of Germany lies north of the US/Canadian border.

It’s not strictly a matter of latitude, because the shape of the land vis a vis the sea makes a difference, but latitude matters.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Based on flatitude Dublin should have the climate of Edmonton, ON. Western Europe owes its success to the Gulf Stream!

  3. Jl says:

Carbon Offset Boy-why do we need wind farms? “Unreliability of ff sources”. Notice you didn’t say the unreliability of ff, just their sources-which Germany could have prevented long ago.

  4. Dana says:

In the late fall, winter, and early spring, the northwesterly winds sweep down the river valley where we live; in the warmer months, not so much. A windmill would work well here during the colder months, and solar panels well during the warmer ones. I guess that means I’d need two systems, not one, to be sparktricity independent!

    • Professor Hale says:

You could also add a hydro power station on that river and one of those pristinely expensive things NASA uses to generate electricity in space probes (converts warmth from micro radioactivity into electricity).

      Cover all the bases.

  5. H says:

Teach apparently thought that the removal of 8 of his despised wind turbines deserved more attention than the destruction of an entire muncipality that was destroyed to expand the giant open pit lignite mine.
Germany is learning a lesson to not be dependent on fossil fuels whose prices are set by Saudi Arabia and Russia.
Trump’s good friend Saudis Arabia has again threatened the USA for the audacity of selling our oil in the strategic reserve in order to moderate the global price of oil.
The global fossil fueled industry has long been a major contributor (buyer) of conservative American politicians of both parties.

    • L.G.Brandon!, L.G.Brandon! says:

Are you claiming the “entire municipality” was destroyed by expanding one mine? Every building shop and home and all the inhabitants thereof? Are we supposed to take your word for that?

Germany is learning a lesson to not be dependent on fossil fuels whose prices are set by Saudi Arabia and Russia.

Germany is learning the hard lesson that fake “renewables” cannot power modern cities and not to put their eggs in the green party’s basket. Would you prefer the people of Münster freeze to death? That’s rhetorical of course since being a communist the narrative is more important than the people to you.

And for the 100th time the price of oil is set by the market not the Saudis and Russians. Right now the Saudis and Russians are making a killing because of pedo joe’s lack of economic and energy knowledge. Just like you he is ignorant and it shows.

Trump’s good friend Saudis Arabia Again, Trump has nothing to do with what pedo joe is doing to our country. Also again, Trump shook hands with the Saudi king, Hussein bowed low as did pedo joe or have you missed the pictures. They were afraid of Trump now they laugh at the pedo and America’s weakness.

The global fossil fueled industry has long been a major contributor (buyer) of progressive American politicians of both parties. Fixed it for ya. And not only the fossil fuel industries pay off the leftists: media, teachers unions, social media, banking, finance, automobiles, trains, construction and every socialist labor union known to man. Or are pay-offs only bad when “conservatives” do it? BTW, there are no more conservatives, get with the program.

      Mega MAGA and stop lying.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Conmenter: every socialist labor union known to man

Are Police and Fire Fighter Unions also socialist? Are all unions socialist? Should we make labor unions illegal?

Conmenter: there are no more conservatives

Yes, largely. True conservatives such as Reagan, Cheney, Bush, Romney et al, are a dying breed, killed off by the nuCon cult. NuConservatives are driven by political power, overt white/male/christian nationalism, rejection of American institutions (military, media, police, elections, democracy, courts, education, truth), willful ignorance, wanton cruelty and emotional grievance. They will seize power and control by any and all means necessary.

As the nuCons systematically take control locally and nationally they will continue throttling “the other” with their jack boots on the throats of women, blacks, gays, trans, browns, Muslims, dems, libs. Once in control they will approach the Putin model asymptotically.

        • Jl says:

I know better than to ask, because there’s never any “proof”, but what “jack boots” on the throats of women, blacks, gays, ect.,ect?
          This should be hilarious….

  6. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman threatened the US: “People are depleting their emergency stocks, had depleted it, used it as a mechanism to manipulate markets while its profound purpose was to mitigate a shortage of supply. However, it is my profound duty to make it clear to the world that losing emergency stock may become painful in the months to come.”

Let’s clearly understand that the nuGOP WANTS higher gas prices, at least until Nov 2024, which is why they stay firmly in the Saudi, Russian and OPEC+ camp. In fact, they NEED higher gas prices.

Saudi Arabia is tossing DonJon a lifeline for his failing global golf empire, since the legitimate golf tours have canceled their tournaments with him. Does it strike connies as a good idea to have a US prezzy dependent on a foreign nation for his fortune? Especially a foreign country that controls the price of crude oil? Trump/bin Salman 2024!!

    • L.G.Brandon!, L.G.Brandon! says:

Sadly dowd, we do not hurt people to win elections that’s your style. And we certainly don’t want high fuel prices for any nefarious reason. You are projecting again. It is your favorite pedo who is selling off our Strategic reserve to selfishly try and win an election all his terrible policies have ruined for your party.

You think what Salman saisd was a threat? You fool. It was a WARNING. He’s telling you commies on the left that if we have a severe winter pedo joe just fuked us.

You are loosing this election because you morons are running against Trump. Thank you and please mention him in every comment. It builds up the MAGA team.

Does it strike connies as a good idea to have a US prezzy dependent on a foreign nation for his fortune? Does it strike you that Trump is not the US prezzy? Does it strike you that when you idiots say stupid shit ike that more independents move to my team? Keep talking Trump, moron.

Mega MAGA. Keep talking Trump we want the votes. WE now are close to capturing the Hispanics and by 2024 we’ll have the blacks. You can only lie to people and enslave them in poverty and lousy schools so long.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

It was a threat. The Saudis can cut production by several times our strategic reserves.

The Saudis can set the price of crude oil on a whim.

PedoDon controls the nuGOP. PedoDon controls his cultists. PedoDon is your “daddy”.

We’ll stop attacking The Fat Man when he is no longer a threat to America. I’m sure the Germans regret not stopping Adolf when they had the chance.

        • drowningpuppies says:

So, Rimjob, do you still check under your bed at night for all the Trump monsters that are lurking there?

          Bwaha! Lolgf

        • L.G.Brandon!, L.G.Brandon! says:

WE love it when the dowd does his nose dives into insanity. You sound like a freak. Keep on Trumpin asshole. We love it.

So now your back to Trump as Hitler. Another ad hom, logical fallacy and outright lie. Don’t you commies ever stop?

You’re not attacking anybody, you are doing his advertising for us. Thanks again.

          Mega MAGA you moronic maggots.

    • Jl says:

Let’s clearly understand J doesn’t know what he’s talking about. A little history lesson: In March of 2020 Trump and Republicans proposed filling the Strategic Petroleum Reserve with oil that at the time was 24 dollars a barrel. The party that wants higher fuel prices blocked him. Which of course is no surprise…

  7. James Lewis says:

Maybe we need to quit worrying about SA, Russia, et al…..

“ExxonMobil reported record-breaking net profit on Friday at $19.66 billion.

The U.S. oil major saw a boost in earnings from natural gas, as well as higher oil prices and robust fuel sales.

Exxon’s Q3 net profit of $19.66 billion compares with last quarter’s $17.9 billion.”
