Bidenconomy: Halloween Candy And Ice Cream Prices Spike 13%

Well, you know, candy is bad for the planet because obesity is bad for ‘climate change’, and being overweight puts a strain on the health system, but, of course, that’s body shaming

Inflation Causes Halloween Candy Prices to Soar 13.1 Percent

Handing out Halloween treats is going to be trickier this year.

The cost of candy and chewing gum soared 13.1 percent compared with a year earlier in September, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics — the highest increase ever recorded.

The surge in candy prices is being driven by rising costs of ingredients, such as sugar and flour. Sugar is 17 percent higher than last year, and flour increased even more, to 24 percent higher. Cakes, cupcakes, and cookies are also up by 16 percent.

According to Bloomberg, a drought in the northern states affecting beet-sugar crops has contributed to the increase in production costs for sugar this year.

Supply chain woes from the pandemic and Ukraine were also noted to be contributing to a shortage of essential ingredients for chocolate, such as cocoa, which recently prompted the CEO of Hershey to announce that company is anticipating a candy shortage this year.

In fairness, it’s not all Biden’s fault. It goes back to China screwing around with coronaviruses, but, Biden has done little to help alleviate the price spikes. Nor have Democrats. Most of them just don’t care.

I’ve mentioned it sometime in the past that a carton of Blue Bell ice cream used to be $5.99 at my Walmart, and now it’s $7.99. Breyers has gone up, as has Turkey Hill.

“It’s the economy, stupid!” — William J Clinton.

The Democrats are running on everything that is of lesser importance and timeliness to the American people: January 6th, global warming climate change emergency, Donald Trump, transgender rights, Donald Trump, abortion, Donald Trump, renewed COVID claims, and Donald Trump. The Republicans, who need to pick up only five seats to retake control of the House of Representatives, are campaigning on the things important to the American people today: the economy and inflation.

The “October surprise” came from Vladimir Putin and Mohammed bin Salman, with the OPEC+ production cut and — though not that well noted in the US — someone’s attack shutting down the Nordstream natural gas pipeline.

    Then there’s this:

Yup, November 8th is shaping up as at least the first step in regaining our independence!

  2. LOL! Even Mr Biden’s bosses handlers recognize that “It’s the economy, stupid!

    They aren’t fooling anyone.

    McDonald’s prices are up 50%.
Turkey prices are high enough that the local Arbies has removed it from the menu.

But Trump did it, se we should all stop complaining. Democrat to be named later will fix it.

Happy J is making more baseless assertions day! Which could be any day. Tell us, how are women being oppressed? And freedom and independence is under attack…how? Do you mean like totally left-leaning tech companies censoring speech?

      Jill,

You’ll have to ask Mr Dana who dredged up an old comment.

Is it oppressive to force a 10 year old girl, raped and impregnated by her uncle Rodney, out of state for an abortion?

And what business is it of yours how another woman decides to control her reproductive capacity?

How about a woman in her 26th week who finds that her fetus is anencephalic? Or a woman at 30 weeks with dead fetus?

I’d love to join your search as you attempt to find a”right” to abortion in the Constitution. Shall we organize a search party? Last I looked, abortions were still legal in most places. By leaving it to the states, the procedure to make it legal or illegal rests more in the hands of the people and their elected representatives instead of 5 judges. That does sound like extreme oppression, though…

      Jill,

Do you mean tech companies like Truth Social (tRump), parler (Ye), Gab (Torba) and twitter (Musk)? How will conservatives and MAGAts ever get heard, LOL?
