Surprise: Bidenflation Ate Up Worker’s Raises

Glad to see the media is finally catching on

Workers got bigger raises this year, but inflation has gobbled them up

John Bjorklund’s savings account is shrinking. Alex Bonifaz worries about skyrocketing heating oil costs. Rose White is delaying replacing the leaky roof on her house.

All three work for the Boston nonprofit 2Life Communities, where nearly everyone got raises in April — some at higher rates than normal. But soaring inflation has eroded those increases, wiping them away completely in some cases, as it has for workers across the country.

Prices have gone up 8.3 percent on average over the past year, according to the Consumer Price Index, and for some essential items it’s far higher — eggs are up nearly 40 percent, for instance — putting an especially large burden on lower-income workers. The inability to get ahead is further fueling worker frustration at a time when people are quitting their jobs at record rates. (snip)

Bjorklund, who also plays guitar in a rock band, got a 4.2 percent raise in April — more than he normally gets, but less than others received.

“I’m not complaining,” he said. “When they’re saying inflation is like a 7 or 8 percent increase, the 4 percent raise really doesn’t amount to a lot of money. But I’m grateful to have it.”

Most won’t be getting an 8%+ raise, but, even if they did, it wouldn’t account for the food and other goods they buy the most which have skyrocketed.

White, 47, has been spending $50-$100 more a week on groceries for her family of four, including a daughter, 12, and son, 14, who play sports and often have friends over to eat. “The volume of food is incredible,” said White, who has been making more trips to Costco — and buying less meat — and recently started growing vegetables to help combat high prices. She also worries about her children’s college fund and soaring electricity costs, and is seriously considering investing in solar panels.

When White and her husband get raises, they usually put the increase into their retirement savings. But White didn’t do that with her 2.5 percent bump this year for “cash flow reasons.”

If you can’t afford to buy meat as much, you can’t afford solar panels. Such is life in the Bidenconomy. Especially when it’s hurting the working class and low end of the middle class the most.

Teach most people who get solar panels pay nothing out of pocket. Haven’t you checked out what Duke Power is offering in your state? Of course that is not offered to 100% of homeowners. People who chose to live in condos or other socialized living conditions like HOAs may not be allowed. But that was there choice.
Americans may just have to toughen up and endure a 4% reduction in their real wages. On a 52000 dollar yearly wage that would drop their wage from 1000 dollars to 960 dollars, losing 6 dollars per day. If 15% of your budget goes to food that would mean 1$ less food per day.
The Gulf Arabs and Russians set the global oil price(they are restricting their excess production) and both have publicly stated that they will cut back production even more. Both are friends of Trump. Both would hope that the GOP does well in the midterms. These are the foreign allies of Trump and the GOP. With friends like that, who needs enemies ? It is possible that “skyrocketing” will no longer suffice to describe fossil fuel energy prices, we may need to use “warp drive”

A gallon of milk at Kroger is $2.49.

It’s just so nice of the Hirsute One to tell us that, we’ve got to suck it up and learn to be poorer.

It’s transparent when conservatives feign concern for the poor, the sick, the disabled, victims of natural disasters, fertilized eggs or the victims of Black-on-Black crime.

With connies, it’s always about political advantage, power and authoritarianism (nice fascism).

Why do China, Russian and the Saudis work overtime elect Republicans? Do you think they believe MAGAts strengthen America and a strong America is in THEIR national interests? LMFAO!

They are working with King MAGAt for 2024!

5 dowd’s for you! After all we’ve learned about the democommies making money off China, Russia, Ukraine and SA why would you even go there about repubs? That’s just calling attention to your party’s treason. Especially Hunter’s and pedo joe’s. Your self unawareness is astounding. But it does make you both silly and funny.

When Trump was pres Russian didn’t invade anyone, the N. Koreans stopped shooting missiles all over, the Saudis were our friends and trading partners and the Chinks cut their tariffs and opened up talks. You commies have some sort of problem with an America not at war, having supply problems, low inflation, high stock market etcetera?

Why do democommies love the deaths of Americans so much? From unborn American babies to unarmed female American patriots who DARE to enter the capitol? We know Pelousey makes tons off war and medicine as do almost every other democommie so I guess that’s why you love war so much.

Relax, go out and have one of you Mengele’s murder some babies. You’ll feel better.

You can start saying good-bye to emperor pedo and his perverted band of cabinet members come Jan. Bye-bye fags and weirdos.

      MAGA to the pedo fag.

    Dear Hairy:

“Teach most people who get solar panels pay nothing out of pocket.”

Duke Power is either getting money from the Feds or using its own funds. In the former, all of us are paying for them. In the latter all Duke customers and share holders are.

TANSTAFL – There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.

    A 4% reduction is $2080. That’s $40.00 a week. You can’t do math.

Food prices have jumped. My personal bill, and I purchase for 3, has increased around 25%, or about $2000. per year. That’s around $38.00 a week. If I hold the increase constant and reduce food purchases by $38.00 that’s $5.43 less food per day.

Gasoline has gone from $2.00 to $3.50. That’s a 42% increase. If the family combined driving is 25000 miles per year at 22 mpg, that’s 1136 gallons per year for an increased annual cost of $1704 dollars. What gets reduced to make up the increase. Food? Clothing? Entertainment? Medical care? Dentist visits? Education?

Utility prices are increasing 30%. My monthly average is $350.00. It is now $455.
Hairy, I’m lucky. I can absorb these increases. The widow lady down the street can’t. She has to decide if she can afford food or her med copays. Yes, Hairy. Medicare doesn’t cover everything.

The first oil shutdown by OPEC was in 1973. Nixon was president followed by Ford. OPEC is Republican’s friends? Nonsense. OPEC acts in its own interests. SA may have, probably did, kill a journalist. That’s shameful. Should we have went to war? No. Should Biden ran his silly mouth? No. Should SA retaliate? No. But it has. We are now facing price increases based on supply reductions.

Should we respond by pushing for more US production? Yes. But Biden won’t because he want’s high prices to make EV’s more competitive on the backs of the poor and middle class.

    Shame on you. Shame. Shame.

    No New Wars
    2.00 per gallon gasoline
    Plenty of groceries to purchase
    Low inflation
    Tough on Crime policy
    Closed Borders
    Border Walls being constructed

It was so trying living under GOP rule. I am glad Biden took over so we can have:

    Out of control INFLATION.
    4.00-7.60 a gallon gasoline
    a collapsing house market
Rising interest rates making the purchase of anything way more expensive
    CRIME RAMPANT
    Cities and Subways NOT SAFE
WIDE OPEN BORDERS LETTING CRIMINALS INTO THE COUNTRY WHO THEN GO ON TO KILL, RAPE or assault American Citizens.
Teaching our children they are pieces of shit in our schools
A war with Russia staring down Nuclear war
    Half-empty grocery stores
    Gasoline lines to buy gas

I mean hey. How lucky are we that you Don’T fuk with a Biden? We are so lucky to have Democrats in control.

VOTE REPUBLICAN IF YOU WANT YOUR COUNTRY BACK!!!!!!!!!

Looks like the non-election stealers are gettin ready to not steal another one. Reported by Colorado Public Radio. Not exactly the bastion of Trumpism as dowd would hope.

The lying begins so dowd quickly shifts into denial mode demanding “proof”.
