Four-year-old Francis Gaskin, who lives with his family in Houston, has a favorite episode of his favorite new Netflix cartoon: When the Amazon rainforest canopy dries up from too much heat, the manic howler monkeys must move into the lower realms of the forest, creating havoc among the other rainforest residents. “They had to find a new home,” Francis explained during a video interview.
“I noticed something else,” the preschooler added. “The frogs were going to lay their eggs in the water, but there was no water in the stream because there was zero rain.”
“Sometimes the Earth warms up,” he said.
Francis’ favorite show is “Octonauts: Above and Beyond,” the recent spinoff of a long-running BBC program, and one of the first television shows directed at very young children to explicitly address climate change. The program attempts to strike a delicate balance: gently showing 3- and 4-year-olds that their world is already changing, without frightening them with the consequences.
Climate scientists say its depictions are largely accurate, with one striking omission. The program says nothing about why the Earth is heating up: the burning of oil, gas and coal.
If that’s the case, then why are Warmists using so much of it themselves?
“Nobody really knows yet at what age kids can understand climate change,” said Gary Evans, an environmental and developmental psychologist at Cornell University who is conducting a study of children in kindergarten through third grade to find out what they know about climate change and how it makes them feel. “Anyone who tells you that they know the best way to talk to young kids about climate change is doing so without the guidance of data.”
Why worry about that, since the whole thing is missing data?
Climate scientists say that needs to change. Children born within the last decade, sometimes known as “Generation Alpha,” will be the first to live their entire lives on a planet that has been irrevocably altered by human-caused global warming.

The program also shows preschoolers how climate change could affect their own lives. In one episode, the Octonauts experience a shortage of their essential beverage, hot cocoa, because heat is making the cocoa plants wither. The team sings, “Changing climate makes the temperature high, and in the heat the trees are thirsty and dry.”
So, they’ll be soft-peddling climate doom, and it make them emotional messes at a younger age. This is child abuse. Climate cultists do not care.

Prior to the early 60s, global warming DID track with average solar irradiance (but,correlation does not imply causation!), but since 1960, as average solar irradiance has decreased the Earth continues to warm.

There is debate within the scientific community how much solar activity can, or does affect Earth’s climate. There is research which shows evidence that Earth’s climate is sensitive to very weak changes in the Sun’s energy output over time frames of 10s and 100s of years.
Times of maximum sunspot activity are associated with a very slight increase in the energy output from the sun. Ultraviolet radiation increases dramatically during high sunspot activity, which can have a large effect on the Earth’s atmosphere.!!!
SO we are having very few sunspots ATM which means that there is little Ultraviolet radiation occuring right now that would D R A M A T I C A L L Y increase Earth’s atmosphere.
Yet the AGW NAZIS try to say that during this time of LITTLE to NO SUNSPOT ACTIVITY these events are being driven by sunspot activity.
One interesting aspect of solar cycles is that the sun went through a period of near zero sunspot activity from about 1645 to 1715. This period of sunspot minima is called the Maunder Minimum. The “Little Ice Age” occurred over parts of Earth during the Maunder Minimum.
ZERO sunspots equaled little effect on the CLIMATE. Which led to a little ice age.
Right now as DOWD suggests the solar irradiance has decreased and yet the AGW NAZIS continue to blame all weather on AGW. Yet how can this be so if in the words of the AGW people there should be little impact on the weather right now given the sunspot cycle.

Solar irradiance decreased over the past 60 years and yet the Earth continues to warm as predicted by theory.
Greenhouse gas is not the only factor determining the mean global surface temperature year to year or month to month. Volcanic aerosols and ash block incoming radiation. El Ninos release heat from the oceans to the atmosphere. La Ninas do the opposite. Solar irradiance has a small impact. Ice sheets reflect light, open ocean absorbs light.
Scientists still debate the cause(s) of the Little Ice Age. The Earth had been slowly but steadily cooling about 0.5 degrees C over the last 6000 years or so. One hypothesis is that 4 massive volcanic eruptions around 1300 AD triggered a cooling event that exacerbated the already cooling Earth causing increase winter growth of ice sheets and glaciers. The global drop in temperature was only about 0.4C, but the Northern Hemisphere seems to have been severely affected.
