Surprise: Grocery Store Shelves Are Empty Again

Hey, remember this?

Stetler and lots of other liberals were doing this while attempting to protect Biden (even though CNN contradicted Mr. Potato). It’s not getting any better

Grocery stores still have empty shelves amid supply chain disruptions, omicron and winter storms

The new year hasn’t stopped ongoing food shortages.

Shortages at grocery stores across the country have grown more acute in recent weeks as omicron continues to spread and winter storms have piled on to the supply chain struggles and labor shortages.

The shortages being reported nationwide are widespread, impacting produce and meat as well as packaged goods such as cereal.

While items are harder to find, many also cost more with rising inflation.

The consumer price index jumped 7% last year, the fastest pace since 1982, the Labor Department said Wednesday. That’s up from 6.8% annually in November, which was also a nearly four-decade high.

The Lidl I go to was decently stocked, though seemed down on milk, bread, and eggs. The Walmart near me was wiped out on milk, juice, eggs, yogurt, and lunch meat the other day.

As the world reaches the two-year mark of the COVID-19 pandemic, more items are becoming scarce because of global supply chain disruptions such as congestion at ports and shortages of truck drivers and service workers.

Part of the scarcity consumers are seeing on store shelves is due to pandemic trends that never abated – and are exacerbated by omicron. Americans are eating at home more than they used to, especially since offices and some schools remain closed.

And Biden is doing what, to help? Mostly getting in the way, implementing rules and regs that hurt.

U.S. groceries typically have 5% to 10% of their items out of stock at any given time; right now, that unavailability rate is hovering around 15%, according to Consumer Brands Association President and CEO Geoff Freeman.

So, you might not notice it as much for some things, but, take a look at the quantity. Where there might have been 10 on the shelf, you now have 5. Anyhow, the article goes through many items which are in short supply, like cream cheese, baby food, cat and dog food, chicken tenders (wasn’t a problem last night at Lidl, but, there were a lot less on the rack), toilet paper (wasn’t a problem at Lidl. Didn’t look while I was at Walmart last week), and others. But, you’re also getting into pricing

I noticed ground beef prices way up. And there are fewer sales on stuff at the grocery store (and other places). You can thank China for all this, for messing around with a coronavirus then releasing it, intentionally or unintentionally. Again, though, Biden is making things worse.

Covid? That is all just fake news Republicans hoping to make our POTUS look bad, just dirty politics
    Right back at you

  2. Elwood P. Dowd says:

“Essential” American jobs are going unfilled or are interrupted by Covid. Many “low-level” workers, clerks, cooks, servers, stockers, delivery drivers, line workers, shipping clerks etc are saying “fug it”. Think of it as a general workers’ labor strike. It looks like they really are essential!

Businesses can attract workers with higher pay and better conditions. This may mean that shareholders, execs and owners have to take accept less.

    • L.G.Brandon says:

First of all Dowd, all American jobs are “essential” especially to those who have the and their families. You leftists are the ones who consider some essential and others (read not white collar) non-essential, not we conservatives. You are the ones who shut down the small businesses and kept WalMart, Home Despot, Target and thee like open, not us. Obviously it was because closing small businesses hurt Trump supporters and closing big box stores would hurt Democrat political donors. Makes sense for you I guess if you have neither morals nor compassion for the non-billionaires who actually work for a living.

Hey, remember when the Democrat Party was the party of the “little guy” and the Republicans were the party of “the rich”? Well Dowd, Pepperidge Farm remembers and so do we.

Even the way you describe other people’s jobs: “Many “low-level” workers, clerks, cooks, servers, stockers, delivery drivers, line workers, shipping clerks etc are saying “fug it”.” belies your contempt. These are not “low-level workers” Dowd, these are average Americans earning a living and paying taxes so you haters can teach their kids they are racists. These are the people who “insurrected” at the Capitol when you stole an election and refused even to investigate the shenanigans.

The reason so many are saying “fug it” is because the Democrat philosophy is to keep mailing them checks not to work. How is that good for people or good for America? The answer is that it isn’t yet you guys keep on doing the same thing so we must believe you’re doing it deliberately to hurt us. Unless you have another answer.

Finally, Covid didn’t interrupt anything. The crappy response of shutting down businesses and causing mass unemployment did. Mandates on mask, distancing and fake vaccines touted as the be-all-end-all for the virus with zero consideration for treatment did. The constant fear porn, hysteria and panic promoted by the BS “experts”, the politicians and their accomplices in the press f’d up our economy and that of the world. And your party was in the very middle and the cause of it all. Just to get a guy you didn’t like out of office.

Let’s go Brandon, you decrepit POS.

Dowd: “Businesses can attract workers with higher pay and better conditions. This may mean that shareholders, execs and owners have to take accept less.”

You know as much about business as you know about transplanting a brain.

Employee pay is an expense to a business. “Shareholders, execs and owners” will not “take less” they just increase prices to the consumer. Or don’t they teach that at Leftist Economic School? I also love your hideous belief that it’s okay for people you don’t like (Shareholders, execs and owners.) to take a pay cut but not the employees. They don’t count, only the employees do. But you’re not a communist, nah.

With you it’s always one side against another. There’s never any attempt to find a fair solution for any problem. One size fits all.

Let’s go Brandon, you lying incestuous pig.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

      Fuck Joe Biden,

We understand your fear, hatred and bitterness as your worldview collapses around you.

It is the working class that powers the engine of America, and the working class is suffering, but not from “natural” market events, but from policies enacted by Dems and GOPhers alike. Policies on taxes, trade, labor, safety, monetary and fiscal decisions, healthcare, pensions, all benefit the wealthy – not the working class – you know, the people that do ALL the work. American workers are forced to compete with overseas workers in India and China. The wealthy do not. We pay sales tax on bread and milk but not on stock sales! Over 80% of stocks are owned by the wealthy. People who actually work for a living have taxes (income and FICA) taken out before they get paid!! The rich, with the byzantine laws protecting their “unearned” income pay later (if at all).
There’s a reason that worker pay has stalled and shareholder, exec, trust fund types and owner compensation is going through the roof.

Wouldn’t a fair solution be making the tax laws more fair for all? Wouldn’t a fair solution be to has more of the increased productivity accrue to the workers?

The GOP has forever been the party of the wealthy. They figured out that the wealthy don’t have the votes to dominate a democracy, so they make appeals to working class whites that minorities and immigrants are stealing the nation!

Don’t you think a successful economy should be able to reward hard-working citizens with a decent life?

It’s been a shock to your system to find that the workers that nuGOPhers look down on – the clerks, waiters, cooks, ditch-diggers, stockers, drivers, line workers, janitors, etc really ARE essential, and society suffers when they say “fug it”.

And in a true market economy with actual competition, companies cannot just willy-nilly raise prices unless they collude with competitors.

      • david7134 says:

Notice how Jeff admits that our problems are secondary to government, then advocates for more government intervention. Then he goes on about taxing stock transactions, yet those are already taxed. Jeff is ver stupid.

      • L.G.Brandon says:

Dowd: “And in a true market economy with actual competition, companies cannot just willy-nilly raise prices unless they collude with competitors.”

Who said anything about “willy-nilly” raising prices? We are talking about raising prices because the costs rise. That ain’t willy-nilly. That IS market economy. Where did you get your degree in Economics and business? You really should sue to get your money back.

Dowd: “Don’t you think a successful economy should be able to reward hard-working citizens with a decent life?”

No I don’t because that’s not how it works. A successful economy should be able to provide the opportunities for people to take in order to move forward not “reward” anybody for anything. Being successful and the rewards therefrom are up to the individual, how hard he works, his chosen field and even luck. But economies, successful or not are not designed to reward “citizens” only encourage them. That’s one of the moral differences between you socialists and we freedom loving American rugged individualists.

Dowd: “It’s been a shock to your system to find that the workers that nuGOPhers look down on – the clerks, waiters, cooks, ditch-diggers, stockers, drivers, line workers, janitors, etc really ARE essential, and society suffers when they say “fug it”.”

That’s not a shock to our system Dowd, you’re the one who seemed to say they weren’t “essential” not us. We always knew all workers are essential workers that’s why we know you invented the terms to once again divide Americans.

Normal people want a divorce from the mentally unstable. This relationship has reached its end. You say one thing in a comment then act like we said it in the next.

Let’s go Brandon, you friggin’ control freak.

  5. Jl says:

“Fairer tax laws..”. Speaking of income tax laws, I agree. When the top 1% pays anywhere from 35-40% of all federal income taxes and the bottom 50% pays hardly anything, that isn’t fair.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

How are the bottom 50% doing these days? Are you really suggesting we raise taxes on the bottom 50% out of some bizarre idea of fairness?? Or cut taxes on the top 1%?? Or both. Goddammit, make those poor people pay their fair share! They’re sponging of the hard working 0.1% like the trumps, Paris Hilton, Oprah, Jay-Z, Bezos, Sundar Pichai, Kathy Warden, etc?

      Give me a break, donald.

      • david7134 says:

        Jeff,
You do realize the the bottom half of earners pay either very little or no taxes, and in some cases they get money rather than have to pay. Now you will go to pay role taxes, no.

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

          Porter David,

How’s the bottom half of earners doing?

          Here’s the tax bracket table.

The median household income in the US is about $70,000/year. Median means half make more and half make less than that amount.

They pay sales taxes on just about every penny they spend. Property taxes. And yes payroll taxes, Social Security and Medicare.

There are no payroll taxes on unearned income, which is often the majority of income for the wealthy.

Why do conservatives hate the bottom half of earners so much?

          • L.G.Brandon says:

Dowd: “Why do conservatives hate the bottom half of earners so much?”

How does exempting the bottom half of earners from Democrat taxes indicate hate? You really are a psychotic.

But in case you haven’t noticed, you and your leftist buddies have nothing but hate for the upper half of earners. Why is that since as you just showed they pay most all of the income tax?

BTW, we don’t know about you but we think all income should be taxed the same. That would include everything. When all the billionaire Democrat donors about doubled their billions last year during a pandemic we didn’t hear Dowd screaming for their taxes. How does a guy go from a net worth of 90 billion to 140 billion during a pandemic without paying 70 billion in taxes? All we know is the Democrats are in power so if the rich are getting richer and not paying taxes it’s your fault. You control Congress and the WH. What can little ole us do about it?

How much did Pelosi’s net worth increase last year? How about Bill gates, George Soros, all the Hollywood celebs and all the media moguls? Biden did that.

Let’s go Brandon, you lying filthy bastard.

          • david7134 says:

Like I said Jeff, they don’t pay hardly a thing. Why don’t you pay closer attention to your business and take care of your stockholders, you really shit on them.

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

And yet the rich are getting fabulously richer and workers’ pay is flat as they struggle.

Payroll tax receipts equal the income tax paid by the top 1%.

If the local mechanic’s house appreciates in value she if forced to pay higher property taxes.

When Jeff Bezos’ Amazon stock appreciates by $100 billion in a year he doesn’t pay tax on it until he sells it.

          • david7134 says:

            Jeff,
So what? Do you really think Den politicians are going to do something? Why don’t you pay extra tax.

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

            David Porter,

It’s up to us to pressure Congress to do something.

          • drowningpuppies says:

Rimjob: There are no payroll taxes on unearned income,

Wow! Just wow! What do you think unearned income is, dipshit?

  6. CarolAnn says:

I live in southeastern NJ next to Philly in a town called Riverside. I went to two markets today in an effort to fulfill my list to no avail. There was milk but not all types. No half & half, no chocolate and no heavy cream. The cereal shelves were stripped clean. Being Jersey fruits and veggies were plentiful as were meats but ice cream was almost empty. Paper products were sparse but available. Just don’t go looking for toothpaste or cotton swabs or certain shampoos. I also spent about $12 more for the same stuff as I did last Thursday. Oh, and they had run out of plastic bags we had to use those old brown paper things.

Between two major markets I got about 80% of what I needed. Not bad for Soviet Russia I guess.

We have a president who dictates laws, rules, regulations and mandates along with a congress that arrests people for protesting and holds them in solitary for a year. A Speaker who holds show trials about a protest yet refuses to prosecute a corrupt cop who murdered an unarmed American mother. We have a supreme court who moves anemically when illegal mandates hang in the balance and national da’s and courts that refuse to prosecute actual rioters, looters and arsonists. So I guess in that light a Soviet style shopping experience is to be expected.

Oh yeah, now the medical people are handing our meds according to race. That’s cool. Ain’t nothing racist about giving meds to dark people and denying help to white people. That’s CRT for ya.

    What’s next, rationing?

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Here’s the CRT-based FDA EUA for Sotrovimab for Covid treatment.

Sotrovimab is a monoclonal antibody preparation with activity against omicron.

FOX headline: Biden administration guidance prioritizes race in administering COVID drugs

We’re aware you won’t read it so here’s the salient points:

This EUA is for the use of the unapproved product sotrovimab for the treatment of mild-to-moderate COVID-19 in adults and pediatric patients (12 years of age and older weighing at least 40 kg) with positive results of direct SARS-COV-2 viral testing, and who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19, including hospitalization or death [see Limitations of Authorized Use].

The following medical conditions or other factors may place adults and pediatric patients (12 to 17 years of age weighing at least 40 kg) at higher risk for progression to severe COVID-19:

      • Older age (for example ?65 years of age)
      • Obesity or being overweight (for example, adults with BMI >25 kg/m2
      , or if 12 to 17 years
of age, have BMI ?85th percentile for their age and gender based on CDC growth charts,
      https://www.cdc.gov/growthcharts/clinical_charts.htm)
      • Pregnancy
      • Chronic kidney disease
      • Diabetes
      • Immunosuppressive disease or immunosuppressive treatment
      • Cardiovascular disease (including congenital heart disease) or hypertension
      • Chronic lung diseases (for example, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma
[moderate-to-severe], interstitial lung disease, cystic fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension)
      • Sickle cell disease
      • Neurodevelopmental disorders (for example, cerebral palsy) or other conditions that
confer medical complexity (for example, genetic or metabolic syndromes and severe
      congenital anomalies)
      • Having a medical-related technological dependence (for example, tracheostomy,
gastrostomy, or positive pressure ventilation [not related to COVID 19])

Other medical conditions or factors (for example, race or ethnicity) may also place individual patients at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19, and authorization of sotrovimab under the EUA is not limited to the medical conditions or factors listed above.

Black Americans without other co-morbidities are at higher risk than whites without co-morbidities. It’s just a fact.

Whites are 20x more likely to develop melanomas than Blacks. If we had a sunscreen shortage wouldn’t it make sense to give it to whites first?

      • L.G.Brandon says:

Dowd: “If we had a sunscreen shortage wouldn’t it make sense to give it to whites first?”

Sunscreen is not a life saving medicine. Why does it not surprise us that you endorse handing out life saving drugs based on race? Racist gotta race I guess.

Let’s go Brandon, you filthy racist pig.

  7. L.G.Brandon says:

Dowd: “When Jeff Bezos’ Amazon stock appreciates by $100 billion in a year he doesn’t pay tax on it until he sells it.”

How exactly would you go about collecting taxes on unsold securities? Take half his stock certificates? Force him to sell? Or just charge him money he doesn’t have for profits he didn’t make from stocks he didn’t sell?

Then if you do that and the next year his stock goes back down do you give him a refund or just F’ him?

Have you thought this out at all?

Let’s go Brandon, steal more of people’s money ya shit.
