California Town Bans New Gas Stations Because Of Climate Apocalypse

Of course, what about all the existing gas stations in Petaluma? Because I see a whole bunch of them

Could California city Petaluma’s gas station ban start a new trend?

All eyes are on Petaluma, Calif., a city of approximately 60,000 that voted in February to ban the construction of new gas stations as part of the fight against climate change.

Petaluma City Council voted unanimously to enact the ban as the city aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030, The Press Democrat reported.

“The goal here is to move away from fossil fuels, and to make it as easy as possible to do that,” council member D’Lynda Fischer said according to The Press Democrat. “Right now, we have existing fossil fuel stations, and what we want them to do is add (electric vehicle) chargers and create another source of fueling people can use.”

Why doesn’t the city council spend their own money to do that? Will the city give up on using fossil fuels for their own fleet? When the city has a whole bunch of gas stations now, how does blocking any new ones help except as climavirtue signaling?

Many Petaluma residents got behind the ban after a Safeway supermarket with a gas station was planned near a school and residential neighborhoods, according to The Press Democrat. The gas station at Safeway can move forward despite the ban.

A group called STAND.earth supported the push to ban new gas stations as part of its SAFE Cities initiative, Axios reported.

I’m assuming those residents have given up their own fossil fueled vehicles? Oh, and Stand.earth seems to be a Canadian group, so, why don’t they mind their own business? Anyhow, since the median income in Petaluma is $41k, I’m guessing most won’t be buying electric vehicles, which tend to start in the upper $30k’s. I’d be more impressed if they attempted to ban the existing gas stations.

These People have been drinking too much booze and smoking too much weed and snorting too much dope, either that or they escapees from an Insane Asylum!
Why do San Franciscans listen to them ,and vote for them, or do the Democrats do as elsewhere steal the elections?
if the media had any ethics they would quit promoting them, featuring them and giving them favorable coverage.

20 years ago the median household income in Petaluma was 71000$
The cheapest Tesla now starts at LESS thsnvthe average pricevof a new car sold in the USA
After 5years the total cost of owning a Tesla mod 3 is less than a new Toyota Corolla due to fuel and maintenance costs being lower

    • Est1950 says:

You are absolutely correct about the cost of a Tesla and the fact that doing the math a Tesla turns out to be cheaper in the long run to own and operate.

      Kudo’s to you Hairy.

      Riddle me this.

Why did Elon Musk only sell 500,000 units last year?

Riddle me this. Why is the electric charging stations using only 3 different plugs when there are four plugs in play among all the electric cars?

Riddle me this Hairy. Where are you going to get the electricity to charge 250,000,000 electric cars? And…And…And… run the world, power industry, keep the lights on in every store in the world and heat and cool everyones home????

Riddle me this Hairy. Lets not forget the electric trucks delivering goods across the nation. To charge 12 auto’s at once it takes a minimum of 30 minutes for a 90 percent charge using 240 volts and over 2.5 hours up to overnight for a full charge.

Riddle me this Hairy do you not know anything about batteries. IF you do NOT fully charge a battery it quickly reduces its shelf life if you repeatedly do not charge it to max. The typical battery pack is set to last around 11-12 years. The cost to replace is then on the order of around 7700. dollars. Okay. Not an issue for most owners.

The average length of ownership is certainly far less than 11 years….but when you start looking into the used car market then who is going to buy a used Tesla with 9 years of service and the battery pack needing 7-9 thousand dollars additional cost to replace.

Ignoring that Hairy, let us look for a moment at the number of recharging stations needed to replace the current gas stations in the USA.

That would be 40,000 charging stations. 40,000 x 12 charging heads gives you the ability to charge the 500,000k Teslas that Elon Musk Sells.

Now of course we understand that most people who buy an electric vehicle is going to do most of their charging at home. No problem. However the problem still remains….where does the electricity come from when 200 million people are charging their cars at night when the sun don’t shine and the wind dies down AND……..ATM the technology is NOT there to store trillions of watts of voltage for later use.

However with 250 million electric vehicles not even counting trucks and electric trolling motors on boats or replacing engines in ocean liners and more importantly the 31,000 container ships worldwide…..

Just how are you going to charge all this shit Hairy with windmills and solar panels if your terrorist group won’t even look at Nuclear to replace fossil fuels. I personally don’t give a care about what charges my car or heats my home as long as my car gets charged and my home gets heated.

Oh and by the way. How you going to defend yourself against Russia and China and Iran and North Korea when you don’t have anymore Tanks and fighter jets and bombers cause you can’t even move those things with electric batteries?

AGW is a terror group. Designed to genocide the planet.

That’s good, John-now if they’re so good there should be no mandates requiring people to buy them, correct? But yet there are.

      • Kye says:

Hairy, masks are to Red China Flu what the rhythm method is to birth control. They both let the problem in and people who use either are only kidding themselves.

The best way to stop a disease is to quarantine those who have it, not those who don’t . So far they’ve been quarantining the wrong people therefore stopping heard immunity and thinking masks work is BS. Of course the Democommie governors have been busy committing genocide to beat the Orange Plague but that’s okay. They. Murdered. Tens of Thousands! Where is The Elwoods concern? What happened to his well advertised compassion? How come he sees no “cruelty” when it’s Dems killing the elderly to win an election? Because he, like the phony plague is all bullshit.

We have the flu every season. Has the remarkably unremarkable Dr. Fauci and the “non partisan CDC” EVER told people to wear masks and close businesses? Nope, NEVER. Why? Weren’t those exposed and dying of the seasonal flu worth anything? It’s because those dying of the seasonal flu couldn’t hurt Orange Man and help set up mass mail-in fake voting to defraud America in an election. That’s why!

If masks worked why now do they now say we need two?
Now they’re saying wear three. That’s plain stupid and if you’re so dumb you can’t see that then wear four masks because you’re too dumb to keep breathing.

If you can breathe through it the microbes in the air can penetrate through it. If you can’t breath air through it you can stop the microbes….and suffocate. Morons.

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Masks and social distancing reduce the transmission of the highly contagious SARS-CoV-2 virus. Their effectiveness does not depend on the virus size but rather on droplets or aerosols. Morons.

The efforts to slow the spread of Covid has eliminated influenza this year, suggesting that influenza is much less contagious than Covid. I usually have several bad colds a year, but none this year.

The Bad Orange Man was not defrauded out of his election. He just lost.

          • Est1950 says:

If Trump just lost then you should not have any problem with the new voter rules that are needed to ensure that ballot harvesting is illegal.

You should have no problem with the churches harvesting ballots by the millions when the supreme court rules that voting will return to pre-industrial times.

You should have no problem with the other side passing rules that make it much more difficult for democrats to vote in PA, MI, WI and GA…the 4 states in question all run by the GOP if the supreme court rules against Arizona.

After all Trump JUST LOST according to you. So the things the left did in 2020 should be perfectly acceptable when the right’s millionaires start putting money under the table to make sure state officials just willy nilly change voter laws for 2022 to move mailboxes a 1000 miles away or allow churches to spend Sundays filling out votes for Trump instead of Biden.

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

The hundreds of new bills proposed by GOPhers are designed to reduce voter participation. If every registered voter votes, Repubicans lose.

            Voting should be easy.

            Why do Repubicans hate democracy?

          • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Do you have credible evidence that the Democrats beat the Repubicans by cheating?

Riddle me this: Why didn’t they just cheat to give themselves overwhelming majorities in the House and Senate?

Anyone who believes that trump won is not dealing with reality.

By all means “harvest all the votes” you want, just don’t cheat.

  3. Dana says:

In other words, they just increased the profitability of the existing gas stations!

  4. Kye says:

I don’t know about that. In business the biggest fear is uncertainty and when a senile fake leader can outlaw gas with an edict, that’s uncertainty. Just raising taxes and regulations on gas causes problems. In my area gas prices have gone up 45 cents since the fake election. Wonder why?

The Junta is leading our country over the abyss and everybody is afraid to point it out.

    Why do Repubicans hate democracy?

“The hundreds”? You must have inside information. I’ve only heard of a couple.

The idea that everyone should be able to vote is the antithesis of our founding. If every registered voter who is alive, , is not insane or mentally incapable, only votes once, is over 18 and is not a felon votes Republicans will win hands down. That’s why you fukers cheat!

Voting, like owning a gun, driving and many other important actions should NOT be easy. It should require intelligence, reading ability and at least a smidgen of civil responsibility. But for now I’d settle for voting that is fair, legal and not corrupted by fraud and harvesting. When you achieve that give me a call, we’ll talk. Voter fraud which you seem to think is okay as long as it benefits your corrupt kleptocracy actually benefits no one. As you see now the abnormalities and corruption of the last “election” has half of America doubting the integrity of any future elections. That’s not good even for you The Elwood. It reeks of corruption and fascism. Prove me wrong.

  6. Jl says:

“To reduce voter participation…”. Actually, J, to reduce dead voter participation, among other things.
But interesting, coming from the group that daily reduces conservative participation on social media..Liberals can’t win arguments, so they prevent them from happening

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

      Jil,

Pennsylvania found two dead people who voted. Both for trump.

Connies prefer that Hispanics, Blacks, urbanites, Muslims, immigrants, LGBTQs, the poor not vote, so they make it more difficult.

      Connies argue by spreading lies.
