The storm, which froze nuclear facilities, coal and gas power stations, and wind turbines, offers a cautionary tale of how extreme weather can paralyze critical energy facilities and throw vast swaths of country into chaos. Across the U.S., experts says, states like Texas are largely unprepared for a range of climate emergencies, from Arctic-like cold in warmer regions to widespread flooding, droughts, wildfires and other symptoms of a rapidly heating planet.
“This is a large-scale emergency,” said Julie McNamara, a senior energy analyst at the Union of Concerned Scientists. “We’re seeing the consequences of insufficiently considering climate impact on the grid. At the same time as grid operators underestimated potential for peak demand … they also insufficiently estimated potential for outages.”
You know what can really help? Relying mostly on solar panels covered in snow and wind turbines frozen solid. Yes, yes, there were plenty of problems with natural gas freezing up. A lot because of so many above ground lines not able to take the cold and freezing ice, blowing out transformers, knocking down poles and lines, substations going down. But, yes, this is a cult which is blaming rare winter storms on ‘climate change’.
Funny-the Federal government is sending fossil fuel generators to Texas to help with “global warming caused freezing weatherâ€. Does China Joe know they’re not sending windmills and solar panels?
When I was a boy living on a very rural, pre-electric utility farm with a windmill and out door privy, we were largely impervious to the weather except for ice storms which would cause cattle to slip and fall, sometimes breaking bones. Cattle would need to be kept in a barn until the ice melted-challenging, but probably no more than what people are experiencing now due to failed utilities, especially in densely populated urban environments.
It would not faze the Amish.

Had an argument the other day with a climate believer. I told him that the Earth is nothing more than a great recycler. We cant hurt it. But we got on the subject of water. AMD I said something that blew his mind and still cant believe…I told him that God has not made any new water on this planet, since day one. Which he hasnt,btw.

What is true is that while water can be both created and destroyed by chemical processes, the total on Earth stays approximately the same. Although water is relatively stable it takes part as both a product and reactant in many catalyzed reactions.
If you really want to freak out someone, tell them that the atoms that make up everyone and everything are all some 14 BILLION years old! The calcium atom in your shinbone was in a glass of milk last week, in a cow 2 weeks earlier, a month earlier in a pasture plant, even earlier part of an underground rock that was partially dissolved by rainwater and ended up in the soil. 14 billion years ago, perhaps a 100,000 years after the big bang, the calcium atom in your shinbone formed when protons, neutrons and electrons combined just right! Perhaps it was part of the initial accretion of Earth, or came from an asteroid. It was probably part of snail shell at some time. It was likely limestone at one time.
