The Rumble On Long Island Brought The Fire Between Trump And Hillary

I’ll admit, I did not see the whole thing. I was switching back and forth between football and the rumble after the first 30 minutes. How’d it go?

(Fox News) Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, in a fiery opening debate where seemingly nothing was off limits, clashed sharply Monday night as the Republican nominee worked to cast his rival as a career politician unable to bring change – and the Democratic nominee fought to tag Trump as an empty suit “hiding” something from the American public.

Entering their first encounter after a solid week of intense preparation, Clinton seemed ready for several of Trump’s taunts on stage at Hofstra University.

When Trump, discussing how he’d been “all over” the country talking to inner-city communities, said, “You decided to stay home, and that’s okay” – Clinton had a swift retort.

“I think Donald just criticized me for preparing for this debate. And yes, I did,” Clinton said. “And you know what else I prepared for? I prepared to be president, and I think that’s a good thing.”

Later in the debate, Trump summed up his counter-argument in a few words: “Hillary has experience, but it’s bad experience.”

And that’s about how it went for the entire time. Trump attempted his interrupting schtick a lot, which is apparently sexxxxxist, because, you know, a strong woman like Hillary needs protection from the big bad man.

Memo to Donald: it didn’t get Hillary off her game, so, leave it alone next time. And write a few things down. You missed a few glorious opportunities. You got this one (via Twitchy)

but you should have also mentioned her transcripts for speeches to Wall Street. He missed a few golden opportunities

That was during a discussion of cyber terrorism and security. Donald wiffed on that one.

Lester Holt was somewhat of a disgrace. He was interrupting Trump, attempting to fact check, and asking questions of Trump that he wouldn’t ask of Hillary. Holt brought up birtherism during a discussion on race, then complained about Trump answering the question because they were talking about race. Yet, he failed to ask Hillary almost anything about her scandals. Holt go in a pissing match with Trump, which ended up with the “let her release her emails”, and Holt said “well, I’ll let her answer that.” He did briefly ask her about her emails, but didn’t press her on it.

For the most part, Holt allowed Clinton free reign while attempting to press Trump. He played lots of gotcha with Trump. As the transcript shows.

The snap polls, and I mean snap, if they’re being published barely an hour after the debate ended, gave Hillary the nod as the winner. Me, I’d call it a draw. Trump survived, he didn’t make an utter fool of himself, he held his own, and he got a few shots in. I love the line about “She’s been doing this for 30 years.” He mentioned that many, many times. What Hillary needed was a kill shot. She did not get one.

Obviously, most of the fact checkers are fact checking….Trump. Perhaps they should fact check themselves.

Trump did well enough to make sure many people will reserve their votes for at least a couple more weeks, wanting to see what happens next, and what will happen during the next debate, which comes up on Sunday, October 9th. Which features the Giants vs Green Bay, so, it might lose a few viewers.

Yesterday morning, The Don’s boss, Kellyanne Conway, called him The Babe Ruth of Debaters. The Babe was 0 for 4, with 4 strikeouts looking, and dropped a can of corn fly ball.

All The Don needed to do was stand up straight, look concerned, answer questions thoughtfully, repeat his zingers and not get riled when Secretary Clinton punched him. He couldn’t do it. After an hour of screeching, hissing, grimacing, sniffling and blurting out “WRONG”, the crowd laughed when he said his temperament was good. Halfway through Low-Energy Don (LED) looked like a punched-out old man. The look on Melania’s face as they walked out said it all. If your own wife looks shell-shocked you probably didn’t do so well. The Don had an awful, awful night.

He interrupted Secretary Clinton 51 times, she interrupted him 17 times.

The snap poll showed, like you, that white viewers thought it was a draw. TV pundits, Blacks, young people and women thought Secretary Clinton trounced him this time.

The Don bragged about bullwhipping the first Negro President until he gave up his birth certificate.

History shows that first debates don’t mean much, though. Obama sleepwalked through his first debate and served two terms. LED can make a comeback.

His best approach, almost certainly from the odious Roger Ailes, was that Secretary Clinton has had thirty years to fix things. Do you think The Don leaves Ailes alone with Melania, Tiffany and Ivanka, LOL?

Trump was trounced….He looked downright shitty. I laughed at him.

READ MY LIPS….THE RCP AVERAGES are all that matters……..

THE RCP AVERAGES ARE NEARLY ALL BLUE….meaning Hillary just has to sleep walk to election day.

The press simply finds presidential elections as a huge ratings bonanza and so they pretend to keep the races tight by even saying the race is tight when in fact its gonna be a runaway.

My prediction……..Hillary 323. Trump 214. Trump loses NC, Florida but takes Ohio….Not nearly enough.

  3. john says:

Teach please post those polls that showed Trump “close” to Clinton in the post debate polls
CNN showed Clinton winning 62% to 27%

  4. Liam Thomas says:

However Trump has a chance to pull this out…..He wins the normal GOP states….then wins Florida which he is up, NC which he is up, Ohio, which he is up, Iowa which he is up, Colorado which he is barely up and Nevada which he is barely ahead.

In other words….Trumpster needs to put the ground game into motion in those states….The GOP needs to get out the ground game in those states and he has a shot at winning this thing….

Without a ground game…..trump gets steamrolled…and most likely loses florida, NC, Colorado and Nevada which pummels him.

  5. john says:

Women polled heavily for Clinton. I think they did NOT like the way he kept interrupting her and trying to talk louder then when she was supposed to be giving her answers

CNN…CLINTON NEWS NETWORK HAS HER TROUNCING TRUMP….hardly a surprise.

Pat Caddell, the Democratic pollster and Fox News Insider, told Breitbart News that poll respondents said Clinton performed better at the debate; 48 percent said Clinton did a better job, compared to 43 percent, who said Trump did the better job.

“However, 95 percent of the people we contacted told us they were not going to change their vote based on the debate,” Caddell said.

Fox news has it tighter….rah, rah for the right…hardly a surprise.

    The dailyKOS….far left org…..has Hillary Crushing Trump….hardly a surprise.

A more reliable NON PARTISAN POLL………..PPP’s post debate survey, sponsored by VoteVets Action Fund, finds that voters nationally think Hillary Clinton defeated Donald Trump in the debate, 51/40.

No doubt Hillary won….the problem for Hillary is that no one cares….there is like 5 percent undecideds now…and of those 5 percent….they probably just wont vote.

  7. o0Nighthawk0o says:

Funny that every poll I have seen has Trump winning the debate except for, of course, CNN.

Also the fact that #TrumpWon is trending number one on Twitter along with the many more pro Trump tweets than anti Trump tweets tells me that most do think that Trump won.

But, as I told my wife last night after the debates, this is just the first and most will not remember, or care, what was said last night come election day. The last debate will have the biggest impact on the election.

  8. Jeffery says:

A single demographic thought The Don won the debate. White men. White women, Black women, in fact all women, thought he lost. Black men thought he lost. His family thought he lost. His slumped shoulders, droopy eyes and lack of coherent sentences indicated that he though he lost. But over 50% of white men thought he won.

Chris Christy said if you want someone who understands issues, prepares for debates and talks in complete sentences, you should vote for Hillary. If you want a guy who speaks what’s on his mind vote Trump.

  9. Jeffery says:

This AM TheDon’s spokesweasels are praising him for not talking about Bill Clinton’s inamoratas! Talk about a low bar. Talk about the soft bigotry of low expectations!

TheDon is to be praised for only dipping his toe in the gutter and not immersing himself.

    How presidential.

  10. Jeffery says:

TheDon, a proven serial philanderer, threatens to bring up that Bill Clinton had affairs?

    Classy guy, TheDon.

His base (lesser educated macho white guys) love him but he might not be helping himself with women in general.

  11. Jeffery says:

    Hey dave,

It looked as if Secretary Clinton was able to hide her chronic neurological condition for a full 90 minutes while under extreme pressure.

On the other hand it looked as if TheDon caught whatever she had, what with his constant sniffling, spastic head and hand movements and obvious deep fatigue. What do you think? Parkinson’s or ALS?

  12. Liam Thomas says:

    @Jeffery

You are obsessing right now….Your making me afraid that your mental health has become unstable….I fear we might be reading about you in the news in the next few weeks if you keep this up.

Every time I log on here its Jeffery posting 45 posts the rest of America 5 posts.

We get it. Your unhinged that Trump could actually be the next PREZ….we understand your a racist who cannot fathom the idea of a BILLIONAIRE being prez. We get it that its okay for Bill Clinton to Pork 13 year olds but when the Donald does it…..Its the crime of the century.

We get it Jeffery. Chill out dude or we are sure to be reading about you next. Ill be telling my wife yep I knew that guy….you could see him coming unglued online.

  13. john says:

Predictwise which uses a polls betting and future market based prediction model has Clinton up 5% after the debate

  14. david71r4 says:

Things I noted about Hillary. She wears an appliance of some kind. I suspect it helps her walk as she must make an effort to move forward. She has distinct issues with her eyes when exposed to light. Excess blinking and eye movement, not normal and reflects neuro issue.

  15. Jeffery says:

    Laim,

Thanks for your concern. I do agree that TheDon would be frightening as president.
