Obama To Take Long Fossil Fueled Trip To Complain About ‘Climate Change’

No worries. He’ll make sure you reduce your carbon footprint

Do they have a golf course on Midway? There used to be, but, access to the island is heavily restricted, and mostly it’s scientists and educators who get permits.

(Reuters) When President Barack Obama sets out this week to meet world leaders in China and Laos during his final presidential trip to Asia, he will make an unusual stop along the way.

With time running out for more action on climate change during his time in office, Obama will drop in to Midway Atoll, a far-flung and largely uninhabited coral reef that is a refuge for sharks, albatrosses and endangered turtles and seals.

The photo-rich stop is aimed at both raising awareness about the threat posed by climate change, and showcasing Obama’s decision to protect a larger part of the ocean around Hawaii.

Wait, I thought he didn’t like doing photo-ops?

But the trip to the middle of the Pacific Ocean will also highlight the high stakes of climate change just before Obama meets world leaders in China.

“I think it’s going to be an amazing sequence, and one that really matters,” said Doug McCauley, a conservation biologist from University of California, Santa Barbara.

An amazing sequence. A fossil fueled helicopter trip over to Andrews AFB. Get on Air Force 1 for a long FF trip, accompanied by a backup jumbo jet and several FF fighter jets. All the FF automobiles in large convoys when he gets to each stop. The opulence of the food served and the energy used.

Any progress on climate issues could be a rare bright spot in a trip otherwise dominated by concerns about the international economy, anti-globalization sentiments and global security problems.

In other words, the rest of the trip will be a disaster as he gets boned on the international stage by China.

“Nobody should ever be disappointed with this president on climate change,” said (former EPA head Carol) Browner, who led the White House climate push in Obama’s first term.

Right. No one should ever be disappointed in Obama dictating how Other People act on ‘climate change’ while he has one of the largest carbon footprints in the world.

Gee Teach it must really bug you that regardless of Obama’s travel his policies have had a net REDUCTION in our country’s carbon footprint. That shows how when everyone does a little (thanks Teach for using those CFLs!) is much more effective than having any one person reduce their own carbon pollution

  2. Hoagie says:

His policies have reduced nothing but GDP and employment. Any reduction in our “carbon footprint” is the result of the efforts from before Obama ever wasted his first trillion American tax dollars or exploited the mentally challenged among us to get elected.

Are you really dumb enough to believe he makes a regulation and Voila! carbon recedes? You leftists really do believe in unicorns don’t you?

Hoagie our total power plant emissions have now fallen to pre 1995 levels.
During that time the GNP has more than doubled.
The economy ? Hoagie MOST Americans think that Obama is doing a good job.

Of course “mileage may vary” sorry if things aren’t going well for you.
Even on the economy Obama has positive polling numbers http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/president_obama_job_approval_economy-2820.html
I guess it must be that GOP “base” that isn’t working

President Obama has never worried about leading by example.

Browned is right about one thing,
    Obie never disappoints.

What does the GNP have to do with power plant emissions? Stop being silly.

I’ve told you before, I don’t care about polls or what MOST Americans think. Neither should you. You should care about what works and what is right. What MOST Americans think is often neither of those.

Obama will always have positive numbers because people know that if they actually say what a liar and fraud the man is, leftists like you will call them “raaaaacist”.

Besides, the media, leftism’s “front line” doesn’t put out these facts, you got to go scour them up on your own.

U.S. carbon emissions have declined at an impressive rate given the absence of any cohesive federal climate change policy.

Pay very close attention to this next sentence located at YALE Climate connection website.

A close examination of energy use in different sectors suggests that the transition from coal to natural gas for electricity generation has probably been the single largest contributor to the decline, but a combination of many other factors accounts for the majority of reductions. These include people driving less and flying less, using less electricity (particularly for industrial activities), driving more fuel-efficient cars, and a large increase in the use of wind power for electricity. Some of those factors also stem from the economic slowdown, but all combined, these factors have produced a dramatic and largely unexpected decline in U.S. CO2 emissions.

So while it is true that the USA has seen a decline in Co2 emissions the reasons are really clear.

    1. There is no coherent policy in place.
    2. Obama has purposely maintained a sluggish economy knowing that a poor performing economy will reduce the carbon footprint.

    3. Real Unemployment is 9.7 percent…Gallup has it posted everyday on their front page.

    4. GNP has only increased by 1-2 percent per year ever since Obama has been in place.

    5. Anytime you slow the economy you slow the productive output of the nation.

Good Job leftist….Im sure there are millions of 50 year olds working at McDonalds holding their breath that we dont see a 15.00 per hour minimum wage because that of course means they will work 1/2 what they are working now and still make the equivalent of 7.50 per hour.

But keep on being excited there John…after all you have a ton of plans for MY MONEY don’t you.

  8. Jeffery says:

    2. Obama has purposely maintained a sluggish economy knowing that a poor performing economy will reduce the carbon footprint.

Evidence? Of course not. Say, how does a President purposely maintain a sluggish economy?

We can have full employment any time we wish. The inflation rate is about zero. The interest rates about zero. It was absolute political malpractice by Congress and the President to allow this to go on as long as it has. Our infrastructure is crumbling – our youth are unemployed – our adults underemployed – and DC has fiddled.

97% of economists agree that borrowing a few trillion dollars at 0% to put our youth to work, fix our roads, upgrade our internet infrastructure, upgrade our poor schools, and put Americans to work was the proper response. Do the conservatives and libertarians agree?

John-Clap your hands for fracking, which happened in spite of Obama, not because of him.

  10. Liam Thomas says:

One only has to look at the participation rate Mr. Tycoon. Its the lowest in decades….that means people are not working…..

Where are they? Why that would be on SSDI and VA disability….the rolls there have swelled……Why is it so easy to get SSDI?

College enrollment is way up…..I wonder why the left took over student loans? Why that would be to insure that ANY UNEMPLOYED AMERICAN COULD GET all the free money they wanted to go to college and LEAVE THE WORK FORCE…..

Lots of evidence mr. Pharma Man…..Lots of evidence.

  11. Jeffery says:

    Lame man,

So no evidence that the President is purposely maintaining a sluggish economy. Got it.

If you forgot what you typed I copied it over:

Obama has purposely maintained a sluggish economy knowing that a poor performing economy will reduce the carbon footprint.

I asked for evidence that the President was purposely maintaining a sluggish economy and you change the subject. Nice try.

Your other “evidence” clumsily argues that the sluggish economy is caused by too few workers available rather than a shortage of jobs. Do you have evidence to support that reasoning? Of course not. Really good evidence of a worker shortage would be a significant increase in wages to coax others into the workforce. Has that happened?
