NYC Climate March A Rousing Success Of Leftism, Hypocricy, And Trash

Sunday was a big day for Warmists

(Politico) Al Gore, Leonardo DiCaprio and U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon joined a larger-than-expected throng of activists, scientists, students and elected officials who took to New York City’s streets Sunday for a massive march meant to sound the alarm about climate change.

Organizers initially estimated that the march had drawn 310,000 people, then raised that estimate to nearly 400,000 — far exceeding their projections of 100,000 attendees and making the procession through midtown Manhattan by far the largest climate-related protest in history. New York police did not offer their own crowd count.

Good for them. A tiny fraction of the world’s population took lots of fossil fueled trips to complain about the use of fossil fuels. Hooray!

“It shows we have power,” said Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune. “It’s a diverse coalition. It’s broad and it’s growing in strength and it’s growing in diversity. And it’s increasingly impatient at the rate of progress.”

I’m not sure what he means: they’ve won. There’s been no statistically significant warming in almost 18 years. Isn’t that what Warmists want? No?

Of course, there was also a contingent of typical liberal wackos, ones from Code Pink, 9/11 Truthers, Israel haters, PETA, and others. And, of course, all the radicals, Communists, Socialists, etc

(The Blaze) Tens-of-thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of New York City Sunday to demand political leaders take action on climate change.

While the protest remained peaceful, much of the “People’s Climate March” appeared to be made up of fringe elements of the political left.

Dozens of signs denouncing capitalism were spotted at the demonstration, often held by self-proclaimed socialists.

“Capitalism is destroying the planet,” a sticker on one woman’s shirt read, “We need revolution, nothing less.”

The Blaze’s Oliver Darcy seems somewhat surprised by their attendance, however, these far left groups were official partners of the march. Via The Global Warming Policy Foundation

It was the usual post-communist leftie march. That is, it was a petit-bourgeois re-enactment of meaningless ritual that passes for serious politics among those too inexperienced, too emotionally excited or too poorly read and too unpracticed at self-reflection or political analysis to know or perhaps care how futile and tired the conventional march has become. Crazed grouplets of anti-capitalist movements trying to fan the embers of Marxism back to life, gender and transgender groups with their own spin on climate, earnest eco-warriors, publicity-seeking hucksters, adrenalin junkies, college kids wanting a taste of the venerable tradition of public protest, and, as always, a great many people who don’t think that burning marijuana adds to the world’s CO2 load, marched down Manhattan’s streets. –Walter Russell Mead, The American Interest, 21 September 2014.

By the end of the week, most of the Warmists will be back to their typical big carbon footprint lives and this whole thing will have been forgotten. Nothing will change. Especially when it comes to world temperatures increasing in a statistically significant manner.

Right-wingers seem to like making the point that 400,000 protesters leave more trash than 400 Social Security protecting Teabaggers. Duh.

Of course, this complaint is unrelated to CO2-caused global warming, which is continuing.

Of course, Jeffery dismisses that fact that instead of using recyclable products which would have allegedly cut down on the CO2 emissions from plants and power plants to make the trash that was left, the warmists really showed they didn’t act on their beliefs.

And of course, the fact of the matter is that more vehicles will be used to clean up this mess, adding to the CO2 which Jeffery claims is destroying the planet.

It is amazing how leftists and warmists act in a way that is totally opposite of what they say they believe and at the same time, demand actions from others on what they will not do.

The woman with the pink hair summates the whole. You can look in her eyes and see that no one is at home. This is what modern liberalism is all about. But looking at the gathering, it is beyond clear that the agenda is not about the climate but about changing to a Marxist system, not that those systems help with the environment or ever helped the less fortunate.

  4. Jeffery says:

    dave,

You’re quite a doctor if you can make a diagnosis from that picture! Most people have to type a few words before it’s obvious to me that “no one is home.”

I’m a capitalist pig myself, although I choose to live very simply. As you know, I believe global warming is the greatest known long-term challenge human civilization faces. (I leave out unknowns like alien invasions, giant asteroid strikes, supervolcano eruptions, global nuclear war or the Sun suddenly going out.) Certainly, some who believe as I do also note that unfettered capitalism (e.g., ignoring negative externalities) can lead to catastrophe. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Capitalism is not some force of nature that humans cannot control but is an economic system that amorally generates winners and losers. We can fix it without destroying it.

The Marxists, like the neocons, have a history of failure and we should stop listening to them.

    Jeff,
Actually I can tell you what is wrong with a glance. That is what happens after 40 years. I also know bull crap when I hear it and the climate junk is certainly that. Add to it this issue with changing the economy and you have summated the ideals of the very stupid among us. But lets start with you. If you feel so about capitalism, then get rid of your corporations, give your money to the government, get rid of your car and the energy in your house, and donate your patents. Then you will get our attention.

  6. Jeffery says:

    dave,

I get enough attention from you, thank you. Do you expect me to believe that you’ll replicate my efforts in energy conservation? That’s great! I live in a small (1200 sq ft), energy efficient house. You probably pay more for hookers than I spend on utilities! And I’ve lived here over 30 years, too. In addition, I pay a premium to my electric utility for electricity from renewable sources. We have single stream recycling here too, so we have little rubbish. I compost everything we can and use it for gardening. Have we given up all fossil fuel use? Of course not. Can we do more? Of course. Does my having an electric clothes dryer invalidate the Theory of AGW? Hardly. \

I love capitalism! But we need to control it, not let it control us, is all. People should come before companies. Bros before Co’s!!

Conservatives insist that liberals be the only ones to change. You want me to relinquish all my earthly goods so that you won’t have to. How fair is that? You and Mr. Teach insist that liberals give up all energy use so that you won’t have to. How fair is that? You want me to pay more in taxes so that you won’t have to.

I know conservatives hate the idea of us all being on this Earth together, but we are, and the big problems will need us to cooperate. The Earth will continue to warm regardless of how loudly you stamp your feet in protest. We can take responsible actions now or make life more difficult for future generations.

People who know, know there isn’t enough “you can give up” to meet the demands of the future population growth. The mother of all resource austerity is coming as China and India come on-line with their own 1st world demands of energy, food and goods. You’re all just tools being kept busy while you puppet masters make as much money to keep them in the lifestyle they’ve been accustomed to. You will be asked to scrimp, save and sacrifice as they jet around the whole asking you to. You think you have a choice? A say? No my friends, you’re all fodder for the elites…just puppets…just sheep being led to slaughter, cheering and holding signs…you don’t matter. One day, you may even be food…
