COP19 Ends With Nations Agreeing To Do Something In 2015

Much like the previous UN IPCC “climate change” working vacations in wonderful exotic/historic locations, this year’s taxpayer funded vacation, er, serious meeting over killing all humans (well, if they’re discussing carbon, must be what they want to achieve), er, conference attended by people who took long fossil fueled flights who want to stop people from taking fossil fueled flights…where was I? Oh, yes, this one ended with stupidity

(ABC Australia) Negotiators from about 195 countries have reached consensus on some of the cornerstones of an ambitious climate pact to combat global warming.

Governments agreed at talks in Poland that a new deal would consist of a patchwork of national contributions to curb emissions that could blur a 20-year-old distinction between the obligations of rich and poor nations.

They are aiming for a new global deal to be signed in Paris in 2015 to replace the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, which set targets for developed countries to cut their greenhouse gas emissions.

So, they agreed yet again to Do Something in 2015. Again, that’s what they did last year. And, I believe, the year before. Actually, I’d call this a success, since the climahypocrites aren’t messing up our lives through government regulation as they push their cultish beliefs.

Negotiators agreed that all countries should work to curb emissions from burning coal, oil and gas as soon as possible, and ideally by the first quarter of 2015.

And then they all jumped in fossil fueled vehicles to head to the airport where they took fossil fueled flights, then jumped in their fossil fueled vehicles to drive home where there’s a good chance it’s powered by coal or natural gas.

“Just in the nick of time, the negotiators in Warsaw delivered enough to keep the process moving,” said Jennifer Morgan of the World Resources Institute think tank.

Hooray! They came up with a plan to come up with a plan in 2015 which might kick in come 2020. BTW, this is an important reason to make sure a non-Warmist Republican is elected to POTUS in 2016. We certainly can’t count on any Democrat to follow Bill Clinton’s line and put our economy ahead of the Cult Of Gore.

The agreement was reached after negotiators replaced the word “commitments” for nationally-determined greenhouse gas emissions cuts, with “contributions”.

This would allow “emerging economies”, like China and India, along with “developing nations”, which never actually develop, to avoid actually Doing Something themselves.

Essentially, this was all a way of keeping the money train rolling along a far left track. The “developing nations” want to force 1st World countries to pay through the nose because of Bad Weather. And, yes, Team Obama agreed to this idiocy

Todd Stern, the US special envoy for climate change, told journalists the US wanted an agreed timeline, and that countries should aim to set national targets no later than the first quarter of 2015, which is when the US aims to have its new targets.

They did back the timetable, which, obviously, doesn’t apply to the “Carbon emissions” of Team Obama themselves. Just you citizens, who are apparently looking forward to seeing the economy further eroded.

So, they’ve agreed that they need to come up with a plan in the future….?
Great. How many millions have been spent on this? How much wasted food and energy?

And J wonders why we call them hypocrites. All it is about is keeping theft through Socialism alive.

There’s no way this succeeds. Even if they implement a carbon tax, carbon reduction, wealth transfer, will it ever stop the world from warming if it wants to warm, or cool if it wants to cool. They are not gods despite their belief to the contrary.

For goodness and our country’s sake, elect conservatives for you local to national elections. Save America – elect a conservative.

    Consider:

I was able to predict, a week ago, that today’s negotiations would last all night, yet I’m not clairvoyant. I was able to do so for a simple reason: This is what happens every year! ]

It’s been a bumpy two weeks in Warsaw. First, the coal-dependent host country held a pro-coal summit the same week as COP-19. Then, developing countries walked out. Finally, environmentalists walked out. Needless to say, agreement has been few and far between.

Nonetheless, Nature, one of the top science journals, wrote a hopeful editorial this week about the prospects for success in Warsaw. Despite the discord to date, the editorial board took solace in the low expectations that had been set for COP-19. They note that, “The goal for Warsaw this week is not an agreement, but a viable roadmap to an agreement,” and conclude, “Surely that much can be achieved.”

I do know why you call those with whom you disagree hypocrites (and other names, too). I assume its because you have no other argument to make.

Your invoking of gods is telling. Progressive scientists are likely not to believe in the existence of gods or magic, so it’s unlikely they would believe themselves gods. In any event, gods do not control the physical universe, as far as we know.

It’s interesting too that you believe the Earth “wants” to cool or “wants” to warm. There are physical explanations for why the Earth undergoes significant heating and cooling. Why is the Earth rapidly warming?

“I do know why you call those you disagree with names.. because you have no argument.” Interesting. This coming from professor Jeffery who regularly calls those he disagrees with “fossilists”, “denialists”, “skeptics”, ect. Not too self-aware, are we, Jeffery? “Your invoking of Gods is telling..” Your invoking of “progressive scientists” is even more telling, as gee, I thought it wasn’t supposed to be politicized. But thanks for making our point for us. “There are physical explanations for why he earth undergoes significant heating and cooling.” Yep, and there are physical reasons why it undergoes insignificant heating and cooling, also. But neither we nor your “progressive scientists” understand all of or how said physical reasons work. Which is why the same physical reasons that warmed and cooled it many times in the past is probably doing the same thing now. Why is the earth not warming now, as your “theory” said it would? And you’ve already tried the warming ocean diversion, so don’t use that.

  5. Jeffery says:

    jl,

The Earth IS warming now, contrary to what you’ve heard. The truth doesn’t go away so why wouldn’t I remind you that the oceans continue to warm? Even the surface temperature measurements continue to increase. The theory that atmospheric CO2 causes planets (including our Earth) to warm is not in much danger of being refuted.

Most scientists are progressive by nature. They are intelligent, dedicated, hard working, and spend long hours interpreting data and evidence. Few believe in magic, miracles, angels, demons or gods. They look for logical and physically plausible explanations for natural phenomena.

I make arguments based on evidence in addition to the fun of name-calling. Some here ONLY call names and never make an argument.
