GOP To Hold 30-33 Governor Seats?

The UK Mail points out some interesting information

Republicans are in position to extend their recent gains among governors as they compete for seats they haven’t won in a quarter-century.

Of the 11 states with gubernatorial elections in November, eight are now led by Democrats, and each of the most competitive races is a GOP pickup opportunity.

The numbers suggests that Republicans soon will claim 30 to 33 governorships after holding just 22 a few years ago – an advantage not reflected in the divided Congress or competitive presidential race.

That could be pretty big in pushing a Republican agenda at the State level, and let’s not forget that some states with Democrat governors, such as North Carolina, refused to participate in the lawsuits against Obamacare. And can block implementation of Obamacare. And can block far left liberals in when they control the state legislatures.

Remember, 2010 wasn’t just about the GOP’s historic reclaiming of the US House: the GOP did pretty damned well on a state level.

We sure did. And also in the numbers gained in legislative seats. I think the GOP at the state level is the largest it’s been since the 1920s. Of course, to retain those gains, they’ll have to produce results.

Some states also gained a republican led Legislature for first times either in history or in a very long time. OK was one of them. Amazing enough, Oklahoma is typically a conservative Democrat state that votes Republican nationally. But, moves over last few years, with how Dems are placing their fortunes on Socialism, have shifted voting patterns towards more Republicans. Now, the R’s better hold to conservatism or else!!!

One thing that has definitely benefited from all these Republicans gaining office across the country… Concealed Carry Permits being allowed across the nation.

In Oklahoma, beginning on Nov 1, we will begin to allow OPEN CARRY permits.

  3. Yes, they definitely will have to produce results. In NC, the GOP general assembly has been rather disappointing, though, they have had to deal with Bev Perdue’s vetoes.

The GOP is going to have to focus on fiscal sanity, and that means control of Governors mansions.
