Pakistani’s Angered Over Potential Drone Attack Expansion

Yesterday we found out about the Obamateur administration not able to keep potential plans to expand covert operations in Pakistan secret, and, surprise surprise!, Pakistani’s are a wee bit upset

Pakistan reacted with anger yesterday to an American proposal to expand its drone missile strikes inside the country against Taliban and al-Qaida targets.

Pakistani politicians and officials described the idea of extending military operations into the vast, south-west province of Baluchistan as provocative and counterproductive, and warned of a severe backlash if the US went ahead.

I’m all for this expansion, and I suspect most others on the Right are, as well. We certainly approve of a continuation, and even an expansion of our attacks on Islamic extremists, but, Obama needs to learn what “loose lips sink ships” means. You’d think this “super smart” President would have noticed the way his side tried to sink everything Bush did to fight the war on terrorism. And have a clue that if you leak covert operations, that country is going to get ticked off.

Sources in the US administration confirmed that the White House has received recommendations from the military about an escalation in the use of the CIA’s unmanned drones to launch missile attacks. At present, attacks are confined to the tribal areas in the north-west of the country.

The recommendation calls for a renewed focus on targets in the economically backward province which has provided a stronghold for the Afghan Taliban and a sanctuary for al-Qaida elements. A source cautioned that Obama has not made a decision and could decide any military gains from expansion into Baluchistan may be outweighed by the public backlash, putting at risk the Pakistan government.

Well, if the Obamateur admin would learn to keep their mouths shut, they really wouldn’t have to worry about a public backlash. Thank goodness these people weren’t in charge of any other wars. We’d probably still be British subjects or speaking German.

Here is a little theory for you, and mind you it is only a theory…

Obama, while he spouted off in the campaign that he thought Afghanistan is where we needed to be and not Iraq, is still a liberal. As such, they loathe the military and everything for which it stands. So by pulling this “security breach” by coming out and exposing the US’s covert plans/operations in Pakistan, he enrages the Pakistanis. What is the result? The Pakistanis essentially turn from ally to enemy in the “conflict on terror” (War on terror is no longer acceptable right?). It is his “out in the whole thing. He gets to pull our forces out and abandon the Afghans and Pakistanis and say essentially “they don’t want us there, so we’re coming home”. Or is that giving them too much credit?
