Romney Releases Health Care Plan

Why is it that Republicans running for President are coming out with detailed health care plans, something that is low on the priority list, yet, Democrats, who have made it a primary issue, are still only talking in generalities? Perhaps they will pull a Kerry, and promise to tell us their plans after they are elected?

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney yesterday proposed a state-by-state approach to health care, saying the plan he enacted as governor was right for Massachusetts but not necessarily for the rest of the country.

Mr. Romney, who served one term as Massachusetts governor, said the federal government should free states up to experiment and try to achieve broader health care coverage, but he rejected imposing Massachusetts-style mandates on the rest of the country.

"A one-size-fits-all national health care system is bound to fail. It ignores the sharp difference between states and it relies on Washington bureaucracy to manage," Mr. Romney said. "I don’t want the people who ran the Katrina cleanup to manage our health care system."

Two excellent points. What fits people in the superfund state of New Jersey will not fit a state like Montana. And why would we want government, which tends to be slow, unresponsive, overbearing, and frequently incompetent, to be in charge of our health?

He delivered a slideshow presentation to the Florida Medical Association yesterday laying out his plan, which would pressure states to expand coverage and increase affordability by dropping regulations and mandates, redirect federal funding away from free emergency treatment and toward helping low-income buyers purchase their own insurance, and impose malpractice caps to try to contain costs.

Freedom and choice. Those are good things to have. Treat the symptoms of high health care costs, rather then patch them over, as Hillary, Obama, and Edwards want to do. I wonder when they will actually outline their plans which we are supposed to believe are "not socialist?"

Remember, Rudy came out with a 12 Point Plan back a month or so ago, which the left wingers had major hissy fits about. Why? They do not want to really give better health care to Americans; they want to institute a system that allows them to control Americans and American businesses to an even greater extent.

Now, I have had an earache for about 5 days. Not much of one, but it was making my jaw hurt. Initially, I just figured it was wax buildup from being in the pool. Cleaned my ear out, and it got worse. So, yesterday, I just showed up at an emergency care place (didn’t want to wait till Saturday morning, or even late Friday, to see either my doctor or an ear specialist), saw a P.A., got some medicine, and now it can get better. With socialized medicine, how many days might I have had to wait? We hear the horror stories. Personally, I am quite happy that this pain will go away shortly.

Anyhow, if you want to view Romney’s full plans, head on over to his official website.

"Mitt Romney’s cure is worse than the disease," Edwards said in a statement. "Not surprisingly, he’s unwilling to take on the big insurance and drug companies. As a result, it will make a dysfunctional health care system even worse."

Perhaps Mitt should go after the lawyers that use bogus lawsuits which include psychic channeling, causing health care prices to go through the roof from enormous payouts, eh? If Edwards had an ounce of honesty in him, he would understand that going after the companies will not alleviate the symptoms.

Edwards, who claims to have the only health care plan that would cover all the estimated 47 million uninsured Americans, slapped Romney for not proposing all the major features of the Massachusetts plan for national health care reform.

"If universal health care was good enough for Massachusetts, why isn’t it good enough for the rest of the country?"

Edwards proved he neither read nor comprehended the plan, which acknowledges that different States have different issues. Not many in Florida are worried about getting trampled by a moose like in Mass.

I wonder how deep Silky’s plan is?………..Didn’t take very long to read that, eh?
