TB Friday Featuring The Surrender Monkey: Nance Sets The Stage

Happy Friday to all! It’s that time of the week again! Do you have an interesting post you want to share with everyone? The official Surrender Monkey of the Democratic Party says to do what the Lefties don’t, since they all have the same talking points: link it!

Nance Pelosi was out there on Thursday setting the stage for the Democrats to completely refute/ignore any good news that General Petreaus may report

Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after news organizations reported that the Bush Administration will seek to limit involvement by General David H. Petraeus in the September progress report on the war in Iraq:

"For a long time the Administration has hidden behind the name of General David Petraeus, saying the September report will be his. We all knew this would be the President’s report. It is now clear that the White House will seek to limit involvement by General Petraeus in reporting to the Congress and to the American people next month.

This jibes with the Nutroots meme from yesterday that Petraeus is not going to actually write his own report. As far as his reporting to Congress, woops! Seems as if the General will. Sawwry, Nance!

"We must remember that the purpose of the surge was to create a secure environment in which political change could occur. Whether or not some limited military success has occurred, it is clear that the Iraqi leaders have failed to make political progress."

"The question for September is: ‘Why should our troops risk their lives in a civil war when the Iraqi government refuses to take the political steps necessary to end the sectarian violence?’ We must have a candid assessment of the ongoing situation in Iraq and it is increasingly unclear whether the September report will provide that."

Talk about setting the bar in place. She has already determined that it has only been limited success, and now puts the burden on their being political progress. Kinda funny that she would complain about the Iraqi government being on break, going back, seeing the constituents, getting ready for another round of lawmaking in what is essentially a new country, when our own Congress is on recess (using a school yard word seems to fit, considering the way Democrats act, eh?). If memory serves, Nancy is the leader of one branch of Congress.

Anyhow, from what I read, she has basically stated that absolutely nothing General Petraeus says will be believed by her, and, in fact, will be dismissed out of hand.

I think that limited most accurately describes the military success there. Surely it could not be described as being a total success. They still haven’t totalled up that last horrific bombing but most agree that it was the worst of the entire war.

  4. I’d agree that it is not a total success, but it is certainly a step in the right direction, John, so we can eventually leave with a win. I am hoping we can starting getting out next year.

  5. Glad you liked it, c.a. I think I have to make that monkey a running theme 🙂
